If you're thinking:

I loved customizing in spore! I'm going to get this game and create a unique hero!

Then stop right there. The heroes you unlock cannot be modified. All you can do is equip a few armor and weapon pieces. It's nothing like spore. It's not bad, just make sure you check out A LOT of gameplay videos before you immerse yourself in this thinking it's going to even remotely resemble spore.

@TomGezen That's dumbing it down a bit, yes you cannot customize the body structure of your character but you can add small body parts, change size, color and look of features and limbs of your characters, as well as the shape and size and color of your equipment, it is not quite as in-depth as the original spore, but it still has plenty of features. Also, with there being over 100 creatures to obtain, I'm sure something awesome looking will be found in no-time. Wonderful game none the less.

I know I'm dumbing it down a bit in my general description but I did not state there I guess that I do enjoy it. It's pretty much pokemon-diablo with a little customization of hands, feet, and random crap you can stick on your character in 5 places!

this looks more like warcraft 3 than spore.if they are going to make another spore(related)game,it should be spore 2 and it should look like the original spore,but with better graphic,creatures with realistic appearence,movement and behavior,better creature classification,more realistic enviroment and enviroment changes,civilization stage infantry,more interesting space stage,more stages and other features,not a completely different game.

@igorpro21 It isn't really, its just that people are more used to the build things from scratch forumula of SPORE, Darkspore is the same franchise, but takes a different approach. I'd say try it if you can find a good price for it

@Tactual I know you were directing your question to another person but i want to help you out. Darkspore is, for a while, a fun action-packed game that delivers and seems like its worth it, but once you have the game for a few weeks to a month it starts getting boring and monotonous because of its very one dimensional game play. You just keep on going and killing monsters, sometimes repeating a lvl so you can be ready for the next one. Trust me, its worth it only for a while. Make your choice.

Don't have the game but I think the creator mode is limited now, probably because they wanted characters with smoother animations. Unfortunately in spore they all tried the same animations but their anatomy would make it look really awkward.

everything is too basic, too easy, and your creatures/vehicles/buildings always look like they're made of balloons.

i was so hyped, got gradually more bored, then reached the space age and gave up after a few hours of nothing but watching trade routes.
