  • Can you please use some examples? I know you're on a hiatus until you go on vacation, but if you could please cover a few reasons WHY it was so much hell to move there, it would help. I often toyed with the idea of teaching English in another country, just for the kicks and change of pace, not really to make money.

  • interesting video...

I agree living in a foreign country (even if it's one you're quite familiar with) can be hell.. but much of the time, things do get better... and that the challenge is worth it...

  • I lived in Korea for about a year and loved it! For me, the beginning was intriguing. Great food and friendly people. Didn't learn much "Hangul" though.

  • i'd probably get a cab if you didn't pick me up yo. if i didn't have good directions/map anyway. heck, i get confused in an unfamiliar city in the US. get on the brake too much n sh*t.

  • was that a scooter! how degrading to be riding a scooter!

I wish you had gone into more detail about the teaching. I taught english in Mexico to executives and it was a very interesting experience (even just talking about the business of teaching).

  • true true.. i agree with what u r saying here

  • How can anyone spend a year in place and not venture out or try to take advantage of learning somthing? Geez those people should have stayed home...

  • Mordeth, maybe because Asians are taught to be modest and are taught its rude to say 'no', they cannot be honest about their feelings. The West has taken this to the other extreme and thus some Westerners can be downright rude and condescending.

  • First 2 months living in different culture is hard to everybody. But you cant say it's hard like hell. Give us another example beside they gave u the wrong deriction, because it's happening everywhere in the world if u cant speak local language.

  • I'm coming to Taiwan next week. I need you to give me a ride from the airport, but I have a special request. I want you to hookup a rickshaw to the back of your bike for me to ride in. Mordeth13 Cab Service. Actually I haven't noticed any rickshaws in your vids.

  • As a Taiwanese, I totally disagree with Ur view that Asians lie more than Westerners, how many Asians do you know? Can you speak for all westerners? and they lie more to who? lie on what? keep your ignorant stereotyping to yourself please, U don't know a flying horse shit about Asians, that I can tell for sure.

  • 5600hp is obviously not a reference to his organ of thought :P

  • Dude! I know the reality is that people don't always wear full riding gear even though everyone says you should ... but please, at least put on some gloves! Otherwise, great video as always.

  • I always wondered if it's really brutal wearing gear in taiwan's summers... the only time I ever saw anyone in Taiwan in gear was in the countryside (but on ducatis); The only time i've seen people in Japan wearing any sort of elaborate gear... is outside the city..

  • you never said basic starting salaries w/o experience and higher experienced salaries, and best locations/districts to earn, city expense ect :)

just mentioning because you brought it up and moved on lol.

  • you must have had a chinese girlfriend...that helps...

  • LOL @ You cutting that red light on a gas station without even changing voice tone :)

    good info there,5

  • I hope that there is more to this video

  • okay so im looking at what i wanna do in the future and its abit fuzzy but coul you tell me if in taiwon(im sure its the must knownplace for me to ask you about) do you need a teachers permit aka being a graduate of a teachers college to teach english in taiwon or other parts of asia, and if yes would they accept a canadian one?

  • You just need a 4 year degree if you want to teach legally. Otherwise you can find work but it is way harder and you could possibly be deported if you get caught. Deportation is pretty rare

  • I would NEVER move to China. But I would defenetly move to Tokyo tho' Dude but u never explain got was the "hell" you went trough, what was so bad about it?

  • those first 2 months must've been quite an adventure!

  • I should go back and visit my dad, and teach english..

while finding all the asian poon I can find.

  • thats an amazing video man, good job. i was kind of looking for an insight on what moving to an asian country was like, not knowing the language.

  • so..If you don't like the experiance and the flight.. that mean you wasted your time?

  • I can light myself on fire.

More seriously, are you planning to visit the US at any point? I'm trying to get a friend that's into bikes to have one of his ready as a spare if you make it this way.

  • Exellent vid Mordeth san, I have a message for you concerning this topic, but you tube is blocking my messages. (T_T) I need to send a message to you mr. mordeth.

  • It was great to hear this again it brought back lots of memories when I use to teach in Asia. Simply put if you go there for the experience you will enjoy it, if you go there to focus on making money your will be miserable.. trust me.

  • I ment "genralise so largely" as I supose saying "taiwanese" and "westerners" is genralising anyway:P

  • Maybe Taiwanese lie more than westerners, but I woulden't genralise by saying "all asians". ;) Oh and great vid by the way.. I really like the scooter vids

  • ouch that was a zinger... I am not sure if Taiwanese or Asians lie more. Don't hate mail me or anything - the following are just my theories: 1. Asians/ Taiwanese are not straight forward people. So they'll circumvent the negative and you have to find the meaning between the lines. 2. In general, foreigners (asians in America vice versa; Southerners in Manhatten, etc.) in any country/new place are seen as easy targets.

  • >but I woulden't genralise by saying "all asians"

Japanese do, so yes, all asian :). First thing you learn about business talks in Japan is "yes" means maybe, and "maybe" means no fokin way you retard. Japanese ppl treat no as a profanity, its impolite to say no openly.

  • single guys teaching in asia=asian fetish

  • i agree. sounds like a experience i luv to try, everytime i watch your vids i feel like taking the next plane ticket to an extreme foreign place in the world, and figuring shit out first hand. dope vid.

  • My wife spent a month in Vietnam and the isolation she suffered in terms of language was devastating to her.

  • another great message...what a fantastic adventure...thank you!

  • makes good sense. by facing the challenge of doing it yourself, you have a much greater appreciation for your life and everything around you. much respect to you for making it through!

  • thank you mordeth

  • do you have to know Chinese? or just English?

  • also Mordeth have a lok at my dragsyer racing vids at santa pod raceway there ledg. im still uploading

  • more about the hellish first two months, plz :)

  • This was a great topic. Hope your month off from teaching is going well or went well. Thanks again for posting these lost episodes.

  • these uncovered vids are great keep discovering these myths, when you get out of an airport you cant be arsed to carry heavy lauguage around when your f%£kin dead and cant your first thought is sleep.

  • that idea doesnt really apply for latin america. you take the wrong cab and it could be your last. haha..not so much argentina, uruguay, and chile...but most countries you cant just TRUST people without knowing...

  • that idea doesnt really apply for latin america. you take the wrong cab and it could be your last. haha..not so much argentina, uruguay, and chile...but most countries you cant just TRUST people without knowing...

  • so you just learned the language by practical experience without taking a course?

  • Great video, very interesting!!! do you have a 2nd video of this?

  • I had thought about that job as well. But working in another country is an adventure, and anyone trying should realize that. Good vid like always.

  • lol im going to japan soon, but my brother is picking me up so i dont think its gonna be near the same for me..

  • staying in youth hostels, traveling cheaply

by bus/train on vacation (holiday) . these minor

adventures make it worth more to me

  • Thanks for the video. Believe it or not it really helps. I have been in the process of going to korea to teach. Hope it goes well for me.

  • WOW reckless driving mordeth.

  • ive already shared my hell here where i live so if i came to taiwan and like u picked me up and i got to learn the language with you and others help too then yeah it'd still be heaven for me >_>;

  • it's no fun lugging a ton of luggage around town trying to find your way after a VERY long flight

  • another great video, BTW mordeth, awesome comment you left on that JACKASSES page who was just being a complete dick and leaving negative comments on your other video, i completley agree with your analysis of his life

  • Gosh... what were those horrible things in the beginning ?

workpermit? employer? visa regultions? the job itself?

  • Was that a cop under the bridge? You looked a wee bit nervous.

Oh, if I come to Taiwan can you pick me up at the airport?

  • haha, nice

  • I'm looking to do something with teaching in my gap year, not sure where though. Maybe Ecuador because my dad lives there.

  • im half ecuadorian! do it man, its a beautiful country

  • Yeah I've been there a few times, last time I was there I was half way up Tungarahua before it erupted, but obviously I got down safely.

  • Or did he ? HMMM :)

  • how long did it take you to learn their language?

  • Break even? what meaning?

  • oh btw ^_^

this video is simular to the MORP games~

    ei: remove PKing

    no pain no pleasure..

  • Break even is when you get back the money you put into travelling there, back from the money you're earning. Get more and it's profit, less and its a loss.

  • Interesting commentary. I suppose learning all of the cultural differences can get pretty rough, too...

  • i agree this vids are verry good, 5 satrs

  • Very good advice you got there.

btw I'm going to start calling you rubberneck or something. It's like you can turn your neck 180` ;)

  • haha. These older vids are great and all (especially the outtakes one) but will we see anything new soon?? Guess you're probably busy... Must suck.

  • Wonderful. Would be great to hear the end too though

  • These "not uploaded" vids are great!
