  • One thing people need to realize, that many for some reason don't, is that the air doesn't compress itself! You don't fill your car by blowing into a straw. It needs a compressor, probably electric. Not that it's isn't better than our dependance on middle east oil but if it's electric then it's mostly coal that will be producing that electricity here in the US. The tree huggers might want to think about that before they go bashing coal or praising this car...

  • Compressing air produces a lot of heat, wich is totally WASTED...

  • air power would do more for the environment than battery cars that are full of lead, nickel, cadinium, lithium and phosphates

  • More trompe power stations everywhere ((literal free energy)) would easily take care of this, and btw it isn't 50miles per charge, air powered cars can get 200 to 300 miles per charge.

  • If it didn't look like they were TRYING to make economic cars look so ugly, people would catch on.

  • @chitownsportsfan1 thats why i like the model S

  • @aadeebindy Tesla's awesome. Fisker's pretty cool as well.

  • lets go back to steam engines

  • how do you hot rod a car like this ? more pressure?

  • i f pumped with bigger pistons at slower speeds, heat would not be a problem.

  • all they need is to have a compressor built in to refill the tanks, you would have a renewable fuel source built in

  • @tcarmack64 And the compressor would be run by what ? rocking horse droppings? as 10km long extension cord

  • They should just kill all the poor people so there is less cars to build DUH!!!!

  • this company needs to expend in North America. EVERYWHERE!!!!!

  • That Steven Seagal is a mean mutha!

  • Scams don't all come from Nigeria. Let's see, give MDI $300,000 and they will give you the plan to make millions. Sort of like, your long lost relative passed away and left you $25,000, sent us $5,000 so that we can release the money to you.

  • what the hell happened to this thing

  • The range is not mentioned. Compressing air has a lot of energy losses via heat and is a very inefficient way of storing energy. I doubt if this would run for more than a handful of miles. Then you have to charge it with compressed air made likely by a diesel motor which has emissions. Probably 10x the emissions if that motor was used for direct drive, because of the losses involved.

  • @MakeYourOwnMotorhome wrong, wrong, wrong. air is an awesome way to store energy. it is lightweight and would never breakdown like batteries. range does not have to be an issue either. fuel stations could have precharged tanks ready to swap out in less time that it now takes to fill your tank with gas.

  • @unvanquishableone So you have never dropped a dive tank on your foot or noticed the test date on it? Hint all high pressure cylinders have a life span based on no of cycles and the amount of energy they store, compared to a lithium battery pack is miserable. With an actual range of 5 miles it REALLY REALLY REALLY is an issue

  • @unvanquishableone The range would be an issue if it was 3-10 miles. Who wants to "fill up" every 5 miles? You should do some sums on this and you will see,

The usual thing with these air powered and water powered cars is that they are scams to get people to invest in the shares. Once they have the investor's money, the company disappears!

This was posted 2008. 3 years later, has it taken Europe by storm? Has it even scratched the surface. No I don't think so. Reason = Technology is duff.

  • @unvanquishableone A SMALL CAR COULD GET 50 MILES PER CHARGE, we would need to have precharged air tanks at all or most fueling stations. I doubt that you are part of the pro oil propaganda people.. did you ever see commercials that say there is no such thing as clean coal. how about the one that tells people that corn gas would negatively effect the food supply. who the fuck do you think pays for those commercials.their is so much money tied up in oil, it runs the world period. obama too.

  • Further proof that one needn't have any brains to be a journalist or news reporter. They don't know enough about the fundamentals of chemistry, physics, or even junior-high science to ask the vital and critical questions. I guess that's why they call it a news "story."

  • I got plans in my head ... for an air powered car that is so simple and will be so powerful too.... and cheap. stems from being tired of paying for gas. can't give up any details... except that soon i'll post a video of it... its so obvious how to do it that i cant say anymore... making it perpetually run and be self regenerating is other part am working on too.

  • @robertn281 Hows the tin foil hat? bit snug round the temples?

  • Stupid short range CON that has sucked money from idiots for the last 10 years

Google e.volution south africa for the same stupid MDI lies in 2000

  • I hope this is legit, I just have a slightly hard time believeing this though.

  • I would like to see crash tests

  • i am guessing no heater and maybe AC...and how much air can you stored in the compressor?...it's doable tho

  • FAKE, check out the gas cap @ 1:25

  • @baconbag Thats for the compres air coming in xD

  • @baconbag You're really stupid... that's just a cover, a cover that could be covering ANYTHING. Electric cars have those too dumb ass. That's probably how they re-compress the air tanks that are under the car.

  • @GeneralHoohah woah, chill out, it was a joke...

  • What's wrong with steam cars? This is ridiculous..

  • @Caspar1989 Bit thirsty on the fuel unless you go for very high pressures and temperatures. Cyclone Power Technologies ared the only ones I'm aware of with a chance to match the fuel consumption of a modern internal combustion engine

  • In this video the reporter (mr. Gonzalves) is asking a lot of questions. What about answering them instead? All I need to know is how many kwh's the electrical compressor needs to compress air for e.g. 100 km.Tell me how much energy that is lost between the electric outlet for the compressor and the weels of the car. Dont waste my time, mr Gonzalves..!

  • @bingorev The air car is roughly 5 times LESS efficient than an electric car. Google vencat 20 miles The former USA distributor spills the beans on range (miserable) and efficiency (dire) Range is about 10km

  • KILL THE OIL INDUSTRY!!!!!!!

  • @pidos847 The oil industry killed my sister, and raped my mother!

  • Displacing Oil Use

And while TV's use a lot of electricity, they are mostly for entertainment. Electric cars will mostly be replacing gas-powered vehicles, reducing air pollution and CO2 emissions (even if they are charged on the dirty U.S. power grid, they are still cleaner than internal combustion engines, though of course the goal should also be to clean up the grid - but that's a discussion for another article) .

  • What kind of pressures are needed to make this work? Do the compressors required to achieve these pressures work more efficiently than the process to refine oil? If you ultimately have to burn some type of fuel to produce the power needed for the compressors, which is more efficient, going through several more external processes to power another that is only "clean" when observed by itself, or using the fuel directly as the original power source? The fuel is still burned, just not by the car.

  • doesnt look very safe!! fiberglass and some very basic framing, imagine i could break through the door with a fist

  • After years of working on a system for driving an automobile by means of compressed air Louis C. Kiser, a 77 year old from Decatur USA has succeeded in converting his gasoline engine into an air compressed system. Kiser removed the entire gasoline line, the cylinder head, water-cooling system, and self starter. A special cylinder head is substituted and a compressed-air tank added in place of the gasoline tank.

  • Until 1987 the German company Arnold Jung Lokomotivenfabrik GmbH produced locomotives functioning on compressed air to be used in mines. In the 1980’s they were still selling and renovating locomotives.

  • Up to now, Guy Nègre has filed more than 100 patents, of which 3 co-owned by ELF (French oil company) and 2 together with the French Institute of Petroleum, l’Institut Français du Pétrole.

No conflict of interest here , these oil companies just buy everyone out , it looks like they own the patents to MDI technology ,and have funded him for years , why would they want the air car developed ?

  • @mikehanoo33 "Guy Nègre has filed more than 100 patents, of which 3 co-owned by ELF (French oil company) and 2 together with the French Institute of Petroleum, l’Institut Français du Pétrole." None of which show this is anything other than a pathetic con only capable (as per the ONLY published test) of a 5 mile range at the speed of a fat man on a bike. Question for you why has MDI and the license holder in Australia taken over $45 MILLION from investors? Answer IT'S A CON

  • In 1934, 21-year-old Johannes Wardenier announced he developed the world’s first fuel-less automobile. For weeks Dutch newspapers reported of an incredible invention that would change the world for ever. Not long after that he was mysteriously imprisoned in a mental institution, his design for the engine was stolen and he was kept under constant guard and never allowed to see anyone.

  • 1934

January: ARKANSAS shoemaker Bob Neal files for a patent for his air engine and is denied. (He filed and refiled for two years, then demonstrated a working model, to get this patent.)

RIGHT: August 31, 1934: Bob Neal's patent attorney informs the patent office that they are wasting their time trying to refuse Neal's patent application; he has a working engine. The nature of the outside energy supplied to the engine is not mentioned in the patent .

  • @mikehanoo33

And 70 years later tin foil hat wearing kooks are still building Neal air systems and they just like Neals original don't work.

  • @fizzguts So who do you work for fizguts chevron , bp , why dont you get a life , There is plenty of evidence to support aircars as being a working realistic invention , they worked for years in the first quarter of the last century , so only a fool would say they dont , thats like saying something stupid like there realy is no oil leak in the gulf right now !

  • @mikehanoo33 "why dont you get a life" Well pizza boy I do have a life, part of which is kicking frauds like MDI for touch. What sort of kick back do you get for shilling for these bunkum merchants? A super supreme with a large peps? hint ask for more they have scammed investors for 10's of millions of dollars.

Air cars have always worked just really really really badly. Short range, low power, inefficient.

  • @fizzguts You still have not told us why your so "invested" in promoting the oil companies , and spreading there propaganda , your grade school name calling has no effect on me ,as the oil slick continues to spread and kill are precious life on earth , why dont you help us promote clean intelligent energy systems , which I have shown you repeatedly do work .And have worked for over 100 years !

  • @mikehanoo33 READ I have never "promoted" an oil company. I have merely pointed out air cars cannot achieve the lies opps claims the promoters make The claims impossible (ideal gas law) and have NEVER been demonstrated in an INDEPENDENT TEST. And no taking a journalist round the parking lot IS NOT A TEST same as a newspaper clipping from 1930 is also NOT PROOF

  • @fizzguts Fizzguts, I find this video and technology more believable than your claims that it's a con. I think you're here to keep curious hopeful people from pursuing this technology. Have you seen, touched, tried to build or used this technology for yourself? It's like you are taking the same info we're all looking at and spinning it to say it won't work. What evidence to have to support your claim that a compressed air engine is "Short range, low power, inefficient."?

  • @MrRyanGraham Google Rexresearch Negre over 10 years of broken promises documented Google e.volution south africa Lies from 2000 Google museum of retrotech Air cars are OLD tech Google Gast air motor Complete specs with consumption and power curves. Google Vencat 20 miles MDI ex USA distributor "theoretical" 20 mile range air only 5 times less efficient than an EV And you believe a youtube video. Want to buy a bridge?
  • ok really!!!???? people listen up and learn we need to stop using oil and even if this car does emit carbon that's fine, it's less then what cars are doing today. don't plants need carbon anyway? so they can reproduce oxygen! We could always just use hemp to make the car and the oil and that would solve alot of the problems we have, but no our government would rather suck us dry of money and destroy the earth. When are we really going to make the changes we need. ugh I love plant earth!

  • This car is not carbon free, that air needs to be compressed by an air compressor that runs on eighther fuel or electricity. Makes no difference which one because each would produce more emissions than an equivalent gas engine. Yes, even the electric one, which gets it's power from a powerplant somewhere. More than likely one that runs on coal, we know how clean and carbon free that is... you gotta be stupid to believe this.

  • @AMRennsports if it uses an electric one it can be charged by the car moving ... so HA!

  • @mix0xim The car has to be set into motion in the first place. What ever energy is taken out of the car while moving will create more friction; not to mention that the batteries required to store this energy will weigh more, causing more frictional loses. Trust me, I'm a Mechanical Engineer one of my specialties is alternative energy.

  • @mix0xim As of right now, the most efficient way of powering a vehicle is by internal combustion engine. Not electric, hybrid, fuel cell, steam, or compressed air. IC engines have reached 42% total brake thermal efficiency. Nothing else can touch that. On this car, by the time you add up all the loses: Frictional and thermal. The efficiency is extremely low. At the end of the day, for every mile you travel in this car, you waste more energy and pollute more that other means of transportation.

  • @AMRennsports 1931 German 1200 h.p. diesel-compressed air locomotive is a great success, saving 26% fuel cost over straight diesel engines.

  • I would hate to get into a collision in that thing.Kiss your ass good bye

  • @LottsaLasagna why?

  • @NutsandGuts Look at it

Lets see some real crash tests...0 Carbon Free MY ASS....Whats it made from..Unless it is made from HEMP or something Organic it's NOT ZERO CARBON FREE.

  • Please stop talking about climate change it's a load of BS. Talk about how it will reduce dependency of foreign policy from the middle east or how you can save on gas. Yet please just stop talking about Global Warming, because than I'll personally keep driving a gas car even if the gas technology is better. Just to piss the green addicts off.

  • fuck of u ass hole, global warming is real and its dicks like you who are fuking over our world, i hope u die in a gas powered car axedent, and tht goes for all you "green haters" out there

  • @cpblackangel88: your words denote your feeble if non-existent brain capacity. All on has to do is look at the photos of melting glaciers to realize Global Warming is not a fairy tale. Millions are being spent to convince zombies like you otherwise. Go ahead, do what they tell you, keep buying gas.

  • Listen man your not looking at the fact we have actually more glaciers in areas that Al Gore said would be gone by now. Also earth climate gradually changes do to many different factors.

  • "we have actually more glaciers in areas that Al Gore said would be gone by now"

Right and you made that up.

  • Not at all I'm speaking the truth and nothing more.

  • "we have actually more glaciers"

    READ CAREFULLY WHAT YOU WROTE

    More glaciers.

NO wrong, fail do not pass go, do not collect $200

Even the most head in the sand of the climate deniers have never claimed there are glaciers springing up all over. They do find some poorly recorded piece of ice and suddenly all the glaciers in the world are advancing Beep WRONG. VAST majority of glaciers are retreating and at an accelerating rate

  • Please Global Warming a load of crap.

  • Ah blackangle I see

I shoot down the completely ridiculous stupid statement "we have actually more glaciers" you made and can't justify so you avoid the topic. Tell me as you have obviously practiced a lot what's it like exposing yourself as a moron in public?

  • Please your not open and yes there are areas that Al Gore predicted would be gone by now and there's more. Watch the Schnitt Show on XM radio. Or go on his site.

  • The Schnitt Show

Right off course a loony radio jock is the expert on glaciers. Not the US Geological survey. You need to go back to taking your meds

  • Well his list of links and research done by various articles over the years. Is highly rated and it's being rated for years very well by many people.

  • can you explain why dinosaurs died? was it global cooling ? maybe the planet is returning to its normal state

  • I say everything is running in a cycle, Just like everthing you learn in earth science, Its just a cycle. The only reason there is such thing as global warming is for people to get rich! Yes this will help the ozone but not the earth's natural cycle!

  • i know its probably been said many times in this thread, but do you know how much energy it takes to compress air? a lot

  • Not much. From what I saw in an in-depth look at this car It charges for a few mins on 450w power supply. So it uses very little electricity.

  • Not much.

Sorry they lie through their teeth Real numbers are

    7kw compressor 6 hour recharge

Using the time to fill from a prefilled bottle bank is pointless it has to be refilled some time.

  • i know so this would be so hard to work

  • surely the greenest car would be compressed air powered with the air compression powered by solar power

  • Aircarfan, you mention a 6 cylinder 75hp engine that is not mentioned anywhere else. Are you mistaken? What source of power does that use? If it is driving an alternator and the compressor runs off of that you are talking of two efficiency issues. What is the power source?

I think you are wrong and the car is as described, however my previous comments still apply.

  • this is an interesting concept and respect has to go to the developers, but all that glitters is not gold. However the electric car is making big strides in performance and range.. although battery recycling has to be part of the equation.

  • never mind the theosophical debate the Car is great..

  • Nope the MDI air is a pathetic con

$3 to go 20 miles depending on what you pay for electricity!

Google vencat 20 miles for their own numbers

  • I supposed these cars runs longer on a hotter days. The increase of pressure ;]

  • i think this might have some nice potential, however for now i remain sceptical, but if this should prove to be working car and as efficient as it is said to be, i would buy it

  • You'd buy this POC that uses five times more energy than an EV to go a maximun on air only of a doubtful 20 miles for $18000

    Google vencat 20 miles

Do you want to buy a bridge?

  • Air cars are kinda a joke, electric vehicles are the clear alternative for the future.

  • Electric cars don't work either.

  • I would personally love one of these but they just look so stupid. Plus surely it would save filling up on compressed air as often if it was more aerodynamic??

  • They will custom make you one under your country's standards and they include a compressor. Also its cheaper than alot or refurbished cars they even have a hybrid car that when it runs out of air fills it back while still running giving it a 600 miles to the fraction of the gas of other cars use.

  • Google "vencat 20 miles" for the whole train wreck

Horribly Inefficient, very short range and the "hybrid" engine hasn't been built

  • if the worlds getting hotter ist that going to be a good thing when the sun burns out

  • Why do they always make green/alt/hybrid cars look completely retarded? I'd love to get an alt fuel vehicle but I'm not buying something that looks like it was designed by stoned 3d modelers at Pixar.

  • What do you expect from the socialists.

  • Im all for altenatives . But it wont save the Planet. Stop demonizing Fossil Fuels.Think for yourselfs . Do some reasearch. There is no real ink to CO2 Gases leading to rise in temps. If anything , higher temps lead higher CO2 levels.

  • oh really? when did you last time see outside from your little box? even the US goverment addmits the link and if those stubborn little bastards admit it how retard are u then? and please dont think for yourself cos it seems that it isnt working very well, let those who have dedicated their lifes for these questions to do the thinking, ordinary mob like you wouldnt even know about CO2 without them

  • Please save this world. Dont use fossil fuel. It makes this world hotter. Please save earth.

  • Only Jesus can save us . He created the world its foolish to think we can destroy his creation. We are not GOD. We can not undo his will nore the wonderful things he has brought to us. Put it in your heart that he loves all of his creations , the Earth will be here for a long to come. Dont subject yourself to the lies other men have taught to bring hate and shame in your heart. Instead consirn yourself with saving the heart and soul of MANKIND.

  • Stop kidding yourself. God doesn't exist.

  • God Bless you may he show you his love and give many blessings. IF it werent for him you wouldn't exsist.

  • Yes I would. I'm here aren't I? How can God possibly exist?

  • You dont get it . I hoped that you would. He's the whole reason why you exsist.

If you only knew what love realy looked like your heart wouldnt seem so heavy.

  • You're right: I don't get it. I don't get why you would blindly believe in a silly superstition and I don't get why when I asked you for a reason to believe you wouldn't give me one.

  • HA! The reason we exist is called evolution you stupid fuck.

  • Actually that would be a cause not a reason. And evolution has never been an origins therory .Evolution merly suggests we evolved from simple life forms such as a single cell then through gentic mutation we developed more complex systems.Given your statement its easy to see some of us didnt evolve at all. We were brought into this world by God , and he sent us his son so that we may know what true love is.Evolution has shown one thing its that the later species mimics its parent . We mirror god

  • How can I show you anything if you've sworn to shut your eyes to the light . All I can say is that God loves you . He loves every one and every thing he set on this Earth. I hope you find the peace and love he set here for you. Its the greatest gift ever. If you really want to know God just ask him , with all your heart pray . He will hear you . Like any child whos been absent the father he wants his children to know him and his glory all you need do is ask for him.

  • I was a Christian for over 17 years and an atheist for only a little over 3. I had my eyes shut to the light of logic. I wasn't some psuedo-Christian either, I was a hardcore, Bible-thumping, Bible-reading Christ-puncher.

I used to pray, and it never worked. And God hasn't done anything to prove that he loves me. I asked for him when I was a Christian, and he was never there for me. He's never been there for any of my family and he seems to be pretty absent in the rest of the world as well.

  • My story isnt much different .We lost a child a few years back . I thought I'd never be able to go back to church . Life can be cruel and most times unfair . Thats never a reason to give up .I think you do believe your just angery , you feel alone and indifferent toward God. Just because your able to see religion from a new point of view doesnt mean your enlightend. The devil doesnt need you to 100% wrong to win he only needs to plant a small seed of doubt to claim you as his. I ll pray for you.

  • My conversion wasn't a fast thing. I used to debate atheists vigorously. It was when I came to the realization that for every flimsy Christian argument, there were 300 bulletproof atheistic ones.

  • at 0.30 it is really a green car

  • wow

    amazing!

I thank God for creating very intellegent people!

  • Wow!

    Stupid!

I'm thankful only uneducated morons fall for scams!

Psst It goes 7.2 kilometres at the speed of a bicycle. They have been making promises of delivery "next year" for nearly 20 years. It's a CON

  • They sell the car. You coul probably try it out

  • They DO NOT sell the car. No one has ever bought one. Even the liscence holders do not have cars. The Australian licence holder is still waiting to even see an air pod

  • why most every single think always have to be a scam? consider this as a possible potential, by little sceptism of course but dont shoot every bird from the sky just cos they are new ones

  • i like french cars.

    but this one is aweful!

  • what we can do is harness the power of humans, which is a renewable energy source as our fuel (food) is renewable as long as we don't get greedy and eat it all at once. Have excercise bikes hooked up to generators in fitness centres perhaps!

  • FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAKE!

  • I laugh at people who comment with that one word. It's just... funny.

  • it was a long word if that helps :D

  • If your calculations are correct in the lower post and what you're describing in them, then you are basically calling an air car a perpetual motion machine...impossible. I really don't think the car will be capable of refilling itself as it drives and will, at times, need to be refilled on the road...still necessitating the use of "gas stations."

  • By "at times," I am referring to longer journeys, far from one's home.

  • Ey, how about you Try and Make a Car better than this..

    you Fuckin' Asshole.

acting like your Smarter than those guys.

    YOU make one, Faggot Fuck.

  • An interesting concept, however not all that appears to be green is green.

  • Sorry, I commented forgetting that the tanks are carbon fibre.... so no corrosion issues, however the rest still applies

  • One of the problems possibly of using lots of compressed air is that the bottles tend to corrode faster, every refill means a certain amount of water gets added. Here in the UK pressure vessels need testing periodically to check for corrosion and deformation under pressure. I wonder what the overall conversion efficiency is? IE how much input power to the compressor equates to how much output power from the motor? Is it better than the efficiency of charging batteries?

    What is the range?

  • The air tanks are made of carbon fibre, so threre is no corrosion. The onboard air commpressor is 5.5kW, and driven off of the alternator. Compressed air is not as effecient as batteries, but are much cheaper, don't wear out, and have no self discharge.

  • Comment removed

  • i want one of them

i hope they come to the USA very soon

plz send me a email i have got to have one

    Michael

  • i just read an article saying that the cars MIGHT be sold in the U.S. late 2009 or early 2010

  • And if you google e.volution South Africa the same car was going to be sold in 2001 and in Mexico in 2003 etc etc. It's a con.

    A fool and his money.

  • This is an interesting concept, however it does involve a huge amount of compressed air at very high pressure. Also although the vehicle itself produces no carbon directly it does need recharging from compressors.

Those compressors need power from somewhere.. so the situation is similar to the electric car although the storage medium is non toxic... wonder how they behave in extreme crash tests?

  • true, if the tanks rupture, KA BOOOOOMMM!!!!11

  • The carbon fiber tanks will split, but not explode like steel. The onboard compressor uses 5.5kW from the alternator, which is about 7.5 HP. The 6 cylinder engine puts out 75 HP, when using the preheater, so the engine will lose about 10% of its power while refilling the air tanks. At home, you will plug in an electric extension cord, and run the compressor to refill the tanks.

  • i couldnt imagine it would be any worse than all the hydrogen bombs, er, i mean cars that the auto manufacturers want to put on the streets, along with hydrogen filling stations along the way.

  • So you think going 5 miles, yes that's the only published test report, is OK?

Do you think spending 3 to 5 dollars, depending on electricity prices, for a recharge to go 20 miles is OK?

You believe an 8 hp engine, yes that's from their own reports, will give you the speed and acceleration you need?

Do you want to buy a bridge, I have one for sale ;-)

  • I'm referring to the mention of the tanks exploding, not the performance of the vehicle. but as far as performance goes, yes it's weak, but what are you offering the world to make it a greener place?

  • Fantastic, this is exactly what the earth needs, forget about biofuels, this is the future of cars. I want one, where is the waiting list??

    Siobhan

  • First, we need to have a "gas station" network. I got an email from a friend that said it needs a special compressor to "fill it up." I'm VERY interested to see what happens!

  • The air cars can be refilled externally, but they will come with an electric air compressor built onboard the car. It will run off of an extension cord externally at home, or internally off of an alternator.
