you have to look good. it doesn't matter if you play for the Chicago Symphony; if you can't march well and still sound good doing it, you're useless to a hornline.
at the audition, play something you're very confident with. it will always mean more if you can nail something that may be a little easier than if you can scrape your way through something challenging.
