  • they have an Eric Burton and the Animals sound--- or the other way around?

  • @MrsClippit --it's Eric Burdon-----

  • @crazypainter56 yeah lol i figured it out after i left the comment. thanks :)

  • I wonder how many people here did not knew z existance of Pretty Things until they arrived here...attracted by their search of videos about lsd...431 922 people in nearly 5 years... i think a majority did not knew the pretty things before... from 1967 to 1976 (10 years) they made some real interesting records...

The other day i was listening to their Freeway Madness lp of 1972...if people like early70s rolling stones , early70s led zep, early70s faces... so this album surely is made for them...

  • @BohemianConspiracy Their Rosalyn was pretty popular when I was kid, but not much else do I remember about them, for sure not this song. Never would be played on the AM.

  • I need ♪♪♪♪♪♪♪♪♪♪ all the time.

  • I don't get it. Jim Morrison couldn't say "higher" on TV, 8 miles high was banned on British radio but these guys can sing "I need LSD?!"

  • Moneys never free LSD Skip Allen is the shit a true zombie on drums his style is similar to john henry bonham if you noticed.

  • drop acid not bombs

  • This times are sht why why music has gone so sht

  • I lost my mind on the dancefloor last night - not sure I want it back ;-)

  • LSD

    Yes I need LSD

    Yes I need LSD

    Yes I need LSD

    Yes I need LSD

    Yes I need LSD

  • I've lost my mind and I was checking if it was here. If anyone see's my mind please tell me thx

  • I thought the singer was cute until I realized that he's now old enough to be my grandfather. :/

  • @IAMADUELLIST You're aging too. Dumbshit.

  • artificial establishments and materialistic objects via man made government economy, banks, new cars, your job as a wage slave, and green pieces of paper take control of most peoples lives as we know it, LSD simply opens the door into a more concentrated sense of your actual reality with the absence of what man and the human race has led you to believe:

IMAGINE: life in the present with the absence of what you normaly worry about...there is no bad trip there's people that can't do new reality

  • hah, got the anti-LSD comment voted down, owned. poor fool thought it had something to do with currency

  • I can't elieve LSD is ilegal.... i bet my kids will laugh at that in the future...

  • on lsd is best

  • dick taylor the best

  • Youth culture of today is 89% corporate and SUCKS!

I prefer US stuff from this era mostly, but; this could very well be the coolest UK 60s punk ever!!!...and ever...and ever...and ever...and ever...and ever...

  • @OffandOn13

Wow, you took the words out of my mouth. I couldn't agree more!

  • .☮.¸.♪(¯`♥♫(♥♪(♥♫d(♥‿♥)b♫♥)♪♥)♫♥´¯)♪.¸.☮.

  • This tune is the same as "ESP" which was recorded by both Rain and Big Brother; however, Big Brother's version is slower like this one.

  • This is a really dirty, and a genuine rock band. The music is raw, intense and has a bloody swing. An incredibly nice contrast to all the sampled shit done today.

There were so many great bands during the 60s. Listen to (youtube) a completely unknown band called THE ZETTLERS and their versions of "Skinnie Minnie" and "Beautiful Delilah". It's incredible! The recordings were made in 1965.

  • ...Beaky...Mick...and Fuckface.

  • * oops i mean 'when Intelligence actually did what it said on the tin'.

    spelt it wrong..

  • Too funny!!!

  • this is fucking amazing

  • Its likely they didnt even know what LSD was when this was made. It was just being introduced to the public in 66

  • @Rush1013 Er...I think these guys had probably at least heard of Lysergic Acid Diethylamide, I mean look at them, its The Pretty Things, swinging London and all that. I expect they were hoping to made some good old £.s.d out of it though.

  • @barflyer40

Doubt it, if they did they probably didn't know what it was called. In this song has nothing to do with acid, sounds like a complete coincidence.

  • @Rush1013 Double entendre. Like Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, abbreviated, also LSD!

  • @MOOCHSNOOP

but, just like this, Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds was not about LSD. It wasn't even meant to stand for LSD, it was just a coincidence. I dont think Julian Lennon knew what LSD was when he was like 5

  • @Rush1013 It is claimed it didn't stand for lsd, the same with this song. Maybe they did know but used/found another meaning (Lucy in the sky with diamonds and pound, shillings pence)! Too much of a coincidence! The Beatles certainly took drugs, so Im sure their song writing wasn't that innocent, neither free from the influence of! x

  • @MOOCHSNOOP

Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds was written about a painting Julian Lennon made in school of his friend named lucky flying in space, and he titled it Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds. It was not an abbreviation for LSD. Its no secret Lennon and The Beatles did LSD, if it was about the drug they wouldnt have needed to lie about it.

  • @Rush1013 Mmmm, a bit of artistic licence I think. I don't dispute that story at all, however, they were aware of the abbreviation (being bright lads). And don't get me wrong, I absolute LOVE the Beatles. And when you were a popular music artist in those days they didn't admit until later on about drug use, this would have been extremely frowned upon seeing as a majority of their fans were children and teenagers. Everybody, inc the parents loved the fab four. They wouldn't have jeapordised this.

  • @MOOCHSNOOP

Thats where you are wrong, The Beatles were generally very open about there use of Marijuana and LSD during there career, Paul was asked in an interview in the mid 60's if he cares if kids are influenced to do drugs because of The Beatles, and he replied that he was not going to lie to the public about what they have done, and that its up to the media if they want to print it or not. They did not keep there drug use a secret, even in the 60's.

  • @Rush1013 he just drew the picture and Lennon came up to this. the song is about lsd

  • WOW LOL I'm stoned n couldnt care less what its all about

  • You'd have to be pretty narrow-minded to think this song is only about money, maybe disguised as that at the time to get it on the airwaves, which i doubt it got played much because of the lyrics, cuz this wouldn't even fool a hip 8-year old.

  • IT'S ABOUT THE DOUBLE ENTENDRE. MY GOD.

  • Billy Saturday - why don't you go to a Pretty Things gig and ask Phil May and Dick Taylor what it was about? The Pretty Things were the vanguard of UK Psychedelia that turned out so much variable, but at times truly inspired, music that still has value today. How laughable to deny that the song was about acid! They still perform this song, everybody sings along and nobody, even in their right mind, thinks it's about money.

  • @Nofixedabodetube Thank god, a sane mind that has a true believers point of view, i voted your comment up and so should the entire internet (invented by Al Gore)

  • I implore you to type in the search bar at the top of this youtube page: Bill Hicks drugs and music.

Watch this first video, the one with 997,000 views or whatevre it is now and do as he says.

  • A bit more up front than Lucy In the Sky with Diamonds...I can see why it didn't get played on the radio.

  • theyre so similar to the yardbirds, but the yardbirds made it 100 times bigger than these guys did. I like this band.

  • That is an awesome lookin' bass he's rocking there.

  • The bassist is even grovier than Flea!

  • wow the drummer is getting a real good sound out of that barrel, lol. pretty damn good song for its time.

  • Lsd!

  • I saw the Pretty Things in April '98 at The Pier, Morecambe (since burned down) Great band! They had a very good, very tall drummer at the time, who resembled Mick Fleetwood. I remember standing right next to the stage 'groving' to the music...where these days, can you do that?

  • I had the pleasure of Touring with Phil May in the South of England in late 69 ..The band had gone through some changes but the mystery was still there ..They were the first i can remember to actually have hair longer than the rollin stones ..but we had some laughs and they introduced me to that famous welsh drink called Scrumpy made from cider totally physcedelic ...Even the hangovers were exciting in those days ..sort of gives another meaning to Acid -Reflux ..Peace Bro .......<3

  • To all the people who are questioning the money/drugs thing, I'm sure its only about money. At this time in British drug history speed and amphetamines was the thing (and is pretty evident in the music), Acid didn't catch on until a bit later and even then it started amongst a pretty select group. Manfred Mann also had a song called LSD around this time, and I doubt the were taking Acid. So, its possible there was some play with Acid references, I think its only about money.

  • How did this group not make it big?????

  • The Pretties should have been as big as The Stones, without doubt!!

  • The sleeve for the 45 had the title as pounds/shilling/pence... The drugs thing was just starting to make the media, so while there was a bit of a whispered concern over the song (hey, 60s Britain!), the fact that it wasn't a major hit likely prevented it from getting banned. Ironically, the Byrds' '8 Miles High' was banned by the BBC. Indeed, if a song had the word 'high' in it, beware. Meanwhile the suits making the rules were smoking, drinking, shagging young boys and girls... Lsd, indeed.

  • Didn't Jimmy Page play in the band ?

  • @essertpitay - No. The lead player was (and remains, I believe) Dick Taylor, who was in the earliest version of the Rolling Stones.

  • .worked with brian1962 in london. went to great gig with them to leigh-on-sea.

  • Beaky, Mick and Titch...

  • lucy in the sky with diamonds wasnt anything to do with acid, it was a drawing julian lennon did.

  • @shaftsbury94 so they say.. the beatles hide so much stuff especially with the paul is dead shit.. theyre the best though

  • how safe is LSD.

  • Comment removed

  • LSD for recreational use was legal in UK until sometime in1966, anyone know exactly when?

  • @gamester57 It was shortly after they realized we were having fun on it !

  • @gamester57

It was shortly after they realized we were having fun on it !

  • @gamester57 untill someone realised it was bloody wicked and put a stop to it like most brilliant drugs , just the same as they tried in the 90,s to stop xtc !!!!, best not to dwell on the stopping and just take and enjoy real pure proper drugs !!!

  • Would love to see this number perfomed live at Mods Mayday..Yes I need Pretty Things!!

  • I just found The Pretty Things, and I love them! I don't know that much about them yet though, so would someone tell me how many cds they have, what those CDs are called...and where I can find out more about them?

  • @starznsparklez try wikipedia

  • @pandorawarhol thanks

  • tunee

  • haha, this is what you look like to me, cool dudes

  • He looks like Glen Danzig

  • Maybe LSD was slang for money but they look like trippers to me!

  • @ned666247 no coincidence about that

  • Ohhhh he's so fine.

  • nice hair the singer!

  • £SD

it really was about Pounds Shillings and Pence... i.e. money

    £1 = 20s and 1s = 12d

but don't let me upset your nostalgia trip LOL

  • @Photonzos yeah think the drummer ate too many brit money. besides, drinking coke and smoking fags... olny the ones who are experienced know what that mean muffucka! peace

  • Yea Pecka!

  • I am the 666 th like on this video...

Nice song, never heard of them before.

One of the top psychedelics in the world, LSD.

  • damn how can "all light up" not be on youtube...

  • @blunted333 lol i second your comment. In my experience weed is something you use on LSD (You see what i mean??) Budz can help kick in the trip, or calm you down a level when your really rockin', or to boost it the acid back up after 7 hours of "fulfillment"

  • cool! Music sounded so natural back than, not like the sampled over plastic shit now.

  • The guitar riff on this track sounds very similar to 'Heart of Stone" nevertheless The Pretty Things are legends.

  • Juhu, meine Gelbwurst hackt im Keller nach Rohöl!!!

  • Bet the dummer ate lots of shillings..

  • how many views this videos has got :)

  • great bass line- these guys were like the Nirvana of the sixties, shocking!and they clearly believed in what they did!so far ahead of their time no- one was ready for them

  • song is so badass lol learned it in 5 mins

  • haha that dude in tha back is the the drummer lol

  • Hell Yaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

  • I also remember reading that British Currency was refered to as LSD. The L, S, and D symbolizing Shillings, Pounds, and Pence

Funny thing...I learned this from Alice in Wonderland. That square of paper tucked into the mad hatters hat has 10/6 written on it that is a number in the old English currency of Pounds, Shillings, and Pence, often abrevieated as L S D

Funny how the mad hatter carried a sheet of paper with writing that many people would recongnize as reading L S D

  • @dirtdemon6 Right. They're talking about how money is described in UK. Americans thought they were talking about acid. Stoner yanks sent song to #1 on the charts along with "Strawberry Fields". Great song.

  • @clarkewi pounds, shillings and pence (which was known as LSD) was how we used to describe currency back then, pre decimal days!

  • @dirtdemon6 i did not understand the point..would you please explain it to me?

  • Bad Ass Song!

  • yeah this is def a stumble upon that i want to market more .....why do i want to do that? i think it must be the drugs not the lsd just me....

  • This song has nothing to do with drugs at all. English money at the time was L-Pounds (£), S- Shillings and D- Pence...

  • @BillySaturday This man is correct. Its about money.

  • @BillySaturday ha ha, nothing at all. thanks for pointing that out.

  • @BillySaturday Kinda funny because hippies are siging it so i think there talking about acid.

  • @BillySaturday Not even a little, little, hidden reference? Find that hard to believe!

  • @BillySaturday in that case he should have called it DSL he would have been way ahed of his time

  • @BillySaturday Are you sure ???

  • @BillySaturday The reference to LSD is most likely a double entendre, for I doubt they were so ignorant that they were unaware of the psychedelic allusion.

  • @BillySaturday Seriously go suck Satan's cock you conservative twat, it was the fucking 60's and he is screaming LSD on top of psychedelic tunes, you must have brain damage.

  • @Silvamedalist What is it with Youtube that people think they can be rude to people like they would never dare to be in person? I see that A) you are American & B) 27 years old. What do you know about London in the early 60's? This clip is towards the end of the Mod era (Mods were into speed and RnB), before the Hippies & Acid (the very first ones - such as the Beatles were just starting to experiment at this time but it would be a while before it caught on), but I guess you know it all.. sigh.

  • @BillySaturday Well you see after i ate LSD myself I started to mindwarp through various dimensions until i arrived back into the U.K. of the 1960's. I asked "The Pretty Things" about your comment of the future. They said you are a square bro, laughed out of you, then offered me a joint.

  • @BillySaturday quit making clone accounts to give yourself thumbs up everytime i make new ones to thumbs it back down to 20, you pedo-cultists trying to ruin this world by denying drug influences in music, go burn your albums you dirty little christian

  • @BillySaturday sure..... even if thats true it was probably related to the coming up of acid

  • @znubzz188 Yes and znubzz who the hell are these idiots voting him up i wonder??? I wonder if he is making bot accounts or if it is just Republicans that accidentally stumbled upon the song and also somehow figured out how to read

  • @BillySaturday yeah right

  • the guy was so crazy on acid that the strings were just a form of reality for him

lsd keep us out from capitalist/stalinist system, the earth is just our home at the abyss of universe, you know that, right?

  • Actually LSD the drug not the chicago's lakefront highway "Lake Shore Drive" Is something I refuse to ever try Marijuana is something I would prefer and stick to I rather get high they do something that will make me turn dead be careful with drugs while using bros.

  • Again for the yanks - Pounds, Shillings and Pence - the song is about Money not lsd.

  • funny how that that riff sounds like "for your love" by the yardbirds

  • @ryanbrownnew right

  • I took some paper a month ago while I was in methadone withdrawals,Big mistake that time.

  • how do i get some?

  • @cesky69 you can get it in a biquera

  • great song. describes my situation accurately.

  • Pounds , shillings, and pence (L.S.D.)

  • catchy tune!

  • "E.S.P." anyone? Rain, Big Brother, etc...

  • I really missed out on them. One mark of a great garage band like them (and van morrison's "Them" was another great but not-so-garage sounding band) is it's really hard to find a bad song by this band.

  • LIFE SEX DEATH

  • @VECTIZ life sex carrots

  • @zangeejoe Loosley Specified Dangleberry

  • @VECTIZ largley spooky disorder...i just took 2blackstars an a blue planet, had a quick look there is a fox in the cupborad smokeing my sisters neck, while my ghastly mother sits upon a table of skulls screaming non~toughts to the well wishers of a forgoten tribe...i miss good music an real lsd...

  • @VECTIZ long sausage dog....

  • @zangeejoe Labia Sandwhich Distortion

  • Used to play that in my band in the late 60s (I think) in Germany . MUCH to my chagrin was informed that LSD actually stood for the symbols for Pounds, Shillings and Pence, ergo cold hard mammon. Comments ?

  • Cool! we get to provide our own colours! Let's have the International Roll-call of LSDroppers and their many contributions to world peace, love and understanding (sound of crickets in the dark...) Timothy Leary? Uh, Ram Dass? Ken Kesey? Augustus Owsley Stanley III? John Lennon? ?? C'mon, people: help me here! I'm losing...conTr0L

  • Cool! we get to provide our own colours! Let's have the International Roll-call of LSDroppers and their many contributions to world peace, love and understanding (sound of crickets in the dark...) Timothy Leary? Uh, R

  • Depends whether you want to be in control...... or not. Beware of the blue moonie juice.... scarey!!!

  • LSD really is a great experience if you pay attention to set and setting

  • Hate to burst your bubble, but "Get the Picture" was released in 1965 and anyway this track (LSD) was not on "GET THE Picture",anyhow.

  • For those that love this track......don't take the drugs - it was a SONG to get a reaction, and it did............

  • Whoo graceful partyy.

  • 420 th comment!

  • im takin lsd tonight woooooot

  • LSD.......why not

  • LSD.......why not

  • The best drug ever... Safer/nicer trips than marijuana (for me).

  • @bananiolo2 mary jane isnt a halucinogen, it doesnt make you trip.

  • @bananiolo2

    marijuana doesn't give you trips...

  • @SlipAllCityToy if you consume enough you'll trip for 12 hours easy.mj "is" psychedlic.

  • @SlipAllCityToy if you smoke enough of the right weed... you can trip lol

  • @SlipAllCityToy sorry dude, I'm from Quebec so I may write the wrong term sometimes.

  • @bananiolo2

I'm not blaming anyone for anything, there seems to be a handful of negative people here being mad at me =(

    It's 'aight =)

  • @bananiolo2

I have a few friends who would agree with you. I have nothing negative to say about lsd at all. You should give pot a chance though. Most likely you just need to let yourself relax and enjoy being stoned. Psilocybin is the best way to go though because you know what you are getting. I know people many people who took what they thought was acid and had a really bad time. Anyway psychedelic drugs are super great. wooo hooo.

  • @bananiolo2 , I think the best drug ever is the music.....

  • @bananiolo2 Im so with you on that one. i love lucy soooooo muuuuchhhhhhhhh.

  • @bananiolo2 you get no trip from marijuana..... obv your not on top of your acid nor weed game hahaha

  • @bananiolo2 No drug is " safe , nice " ...

  • @bananiolo2 When mother nature gives you mushrooms, you don't need them drugs

  • @bananiolo2 The only thing I don't like is the risk of having a bad trip - you never know 'til it's too late when it happened to me. If you plan on taking it soon, don't think about this or you will have a bad trip. Good thoughts ~ peace and love.

  • @bananiolo2

you got ripped off man... Or you just plain have no fuckin clue what you're talking about.. I'm not knocking either substance, but comparing the two is like comparing ketamine & coffee.. get a grip dummy...
