Execution is the old "Eye for an Eye" law and is quite frankly fairly behind the times.
My solution? One of two things. Solitary confinement, 10 years minimum. 5 hours of daylight per week. Basic food, no contact with other prisoners at all. Not even talking.
Second would be hard labor. Repay and better society.

The lethal injection costs four times the amount of money it costs for an average time prisoner sentence. For a prisoner who stays for much longer it might not be four times but it still costs more. But you cant compare the costs to accomodate 400 prisoners to the costs to inject one prisoner with a lethal injection.
Thats one less thug cracker on the streets.
