  • Howard Stern after a live in studio performance said STAIND was the most talented cover band he has ever heard ? Aaron could take any song ,cover it and do it justice . Aaron you are the man , you made Westfield Ma a better place with your music . Your friend Big Poppa waving.

  • Just beautiful..............

  • This always give me goosebumps. Aaron Lewis has an amazing voice.

  • amazing song

  • its a good song regardless. we r all gonna be dead someday so why the fuck do any of u care who sings it better i dont give a fuck i jus like dis song

  • I love Pearl Jam, and ... thats an awesome cover, what a voice!

  • Why do you all have to disect it and compair instead of just appreciate that he sung it one night ?

    Just relax and love life

  • i love this cover, he does a good cover of tools sober

  • this guy can sing

  • i dont care for his annoying whiney lyrics but this is great.

  • i love him long time

  • One of the most passionate singers I've ever seen. He is absolutely incredible to see in concert. He did a cover of Turn The Page at a concert I was at, and I couldn't get over it.

  • one of my fav covers cuz look at his face..you can tell he's feeling this song

  • it sucksss that he messed up the lyrics... and yet the song still kicks major ass, lol. damn weed.

  • "Black"

    Hey... oooh...

Sheets of empty canvas, untouched sheets of clay

Were laid spread out before me as her body once did.

All five horizons revolved around her soul

As the earth to the sun

Now the air I tasted and breathed has taken a turn

  • Ooh, and all I taught her was everything Ooh, I know she gave me all that she wore And now my bitter hands chafe beneath the clouds Of what was everything. Oh, the pictures have all been washed in black, tattooed everything... I take a walk outside I'm surrounded by some kids at play I can feel their laughter, so why do I sear? Oh, and twisted thoughts that spin round my head I'm spinning, oh, I'm spinning How quick the sun can drop away
  • And now my bitter hands cradle broken glass Of what was everything? All the pictures have all been washed in black, tattooed everything... All the love gone bad turned my world to black Tattooed all I see, all that I am, all I'll be... yeah... Uh huh... uh huh... ooh... I know someday you'll have a beautiful life, I know you'll be a sun in somebody else's sky, but why Why, why can't it be, can't it be mine Aah... uuh.. Too doo doo too, too doo doo [many times until fade]
  • I remember seeing staind in concer it kicked ass

  • Lewis' timbre'z much alike Vedders - Fucking SWEET!!!!!!!!!

  • Oh I love this cover......only wish he did it with that beautiful counter melody in the original version....ta-da ta ta da-ta da......ta-da ta ta da-ta da....you know it

  • I love Aaron Lewis' voice! Amazing! Took my breath away!

  • Love this song... love his voice and love all the feelings makes me feel :)

  • I appreciate the effort he put in covering this song, but in my opinion his voice sounds too nasal. Which does not mean I think he's ruining the song, but it just doesn't sound natural to me, as if something doesn't fit. Anyone else?

  • No i beg to differ.I think he gives the song a new dimension and ultimately a new entity.A song is a living thing which does not fit in boxes and is free to shape under the power of imagination.Under this prism anything goes. Let's just say that HIS way of singing gives a whole new perspective to the listener. If you are stuck in one performance and cannot see the matter any other way, then you have to think outside of the box asking yourself one question:What if HE had performed the song FIRST?

  • no...i disagree...this is an awesome cover. I mean yeah its not eddie vedder but imagine the lead singer of Rascall Flatts sing this song...he sings through his nose bad...anyways if you dont like it oh well im not gonna hate on you for it.

  • Amazing...

  • i love pearl jam but aaron lewis just blew me away with this

  • pearl jam is very good but aaron lewis' voice and stage presence is unmatched no comparison

  • uhhh no Nirvana was way better than jam.

  • totally different sounds tho.... personally i think pearl jam are one of the brightest bands when it comes to lyracist wise these days

  • Comment removed

  • man he is into that shit .. love the emotion. i love staind and i love Pearl Jam. LOVE IT

  • amen

  • This is an AMAZING cover.

  • Black is my favorite Pearl Jam song. I lived in Seattle during their prime as a kid, my dad was a radio DJ, and I remember hearing them alot. Somehow though I never heard the song until about 2001, the radio would play Staind's cover a great deal... I loved it. And when I found out it was a PJ cover, I was amazed. This version just has a special place with me..

  • this is the best cover ive heard of black!!!

just to let the dumb asses know i did not not say this is better than eddie vedders!!!

  • And can i just say that you can see the influence of Eddie Vedder's singing style in this guy as well as others including Scott Stapp of Creed.

  • Ten is there best record without a doubt.Probably greatest masterpiece ever created.I get annoyed with things called "mainstream".If lots like it,its probably because its fucking great.Pearl Jam are gods. The emotion in their music is extraordinary. And this is a Staind video,so i will stop talking about Pearl Jam.

  • "Black"

  • Glad to see someone knows the correct lyrics to this song! Because Aaron don't! He messes them all up...he sings"her legs spread out before me" just one of his mess ups!

  • And now my bitter hands cradle broken glass Of what was everything? All the pictures have all been washed in black, tattooed everything... All the love gone bad turned my world to black Tattooed all I see, all that I am, all I'll be... yeah... Uh huh... uh huh... ooh... • amazing

  • absolutly mezmerizing i loved it but then again i l love staind

  • I just saw them with Seether last night. I wish their whole perfomance was like this. Whenever people come to the UK to perform, they use these horrible mics that distort their voices to sounding like chipmunks. I was probably the only one there pissed about the sound. I love Staind and Aaron Lewis has a beautiful voice that should never be fucked with.

  • Lidi jsem dement ztratit jsem anděla a ted se jen užírám ale musím žít dál. :-( Krásná písnička.

  • soinds better than pearl jam in my opinion

  • i dont think so

  • ur a bum then if you dont think so.

  • call what ever you want

but theres no chance in hell he can sing it better than vedder

  • aaaahaha how can anyone say something so ludicrous. He is on the front of a band orientated at mainstream rock play. Pearl Jam are a band that will have a strong legacy and will be remembered as a genre and era defining band. It's funny how he covers a song off that band's only mainstream record, isn't it?

  • kool cover mabuhay...

  • theres nothing like seeing him live...i wish i had a voice like his... maybe if i smoke a pack a day ... oh well

  • Aaron can cover any fucking song and rock it! Anything from Pink Floyd to Metallica and Tool. Amazing performance...love this song by PearJam. How fucking amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOVE Aaron. We need more musicians as talented.

  • Was the performance from the Family Values Tour in 1999? I think this was the same night that Aaron and Fred Durst did "Outside".

    Correct me if I'm wrong.

  • looking for a girl that go out with im singul im jon 18 years 1990 july 28 iight jonnythehunter@live,com

  • aaron lewis is fuckin awesome!

  • aaron luis rocks!! but although this is such a great cover and I love staind, I think pearl jam's studio and live versions are better. not dissing this guy cuz he has got such an awesome voice.

  • Fuckin Badd fuckin ass version...

  • all u taught me was really everything.. u changed my life babe... thank u

  • great cover

  • SEeING STAIND TOMMOROW!!!! can't wait

  • Cool Pearl Jam version:))

  • i was naked while I watched this video! 9

  • bahahahahahaha

  • This is one of the best covers I've ever heard. I love Staind AND Eddie Vedder. Aaron does a fantastic job covering this song.

  • Yeah i had to put it on my Zune cause he sounds just like him but he's good at sounding like any rocker.

  • Pearl Jam - Black

  • whats this a cover of?

  • Are you serious with this question? How can you possibly not own Pearl Jam Ten?

  • Srsly I think I have two copies.

  • my favourite song of all time. This cover is superb, and it's an amazing performance. Thank you...

  • eeeeeeeeeeee

  • i love his voice....

  • Aaron astounds us again.Takes another song...to another level. The very best rock voice out there today.Rock on Aaron.Rock on Staind.

  • Delicious cover indeed!

  • this is the best song ever by the best band ever covered by the the 2nd best band ever

  • ha, ha, ha. Don't share the opinion, but great comment! Cheers.

  • his voice always pinches me its completly amazing

  • kick ass perfect cover

  • Aaron is amazing! very good cover, done with one of the best voices i've ever heard

  • This is DAMN close to the Pearl Jam version.

    Hard to tell the difference.

    Good job, dudes.

  • ammmazing love it hate it but u just listened to it soo it did its job

  • Its a great cover, aaron and eddie both have very amazing voices. Great job! If you don't like it Pearl Jam lovers then don't watch it.

  • Its the same song that Pearl Jam did unplugged. Eddie hit the same high notes and did it better. Search it and love it!

  • Dude, Im sorry, Aaron Lewis has nothing on Eddie Vedder. Vedder is a pioneer. Great cover, he did an excellent job, but Eddie's the man!

  • got that right. vedder rocks, but this is close as it gets

  • This is an excellent cover if I've heard one. It's hard to compete with Vedder in my opinion. It's easy to forget EV these days though, but listen to his cover "Hard Sun," it'll remind you.

  • nice cover

  • The ending is sick. I give this guy a lot of credit.

  • who fucking cares whos voice is better

  • yeah no shit.

  • You guys don't even make sense or respect songwriters. Aaron has a marvelous voice, but saying he "sings it better" than Eddie Vedder negates the fact that Eddie & company WROTE the song. It was from them it originated. It sounds, by Pearl Jam, exactly as they wanted it to sound.

  • i agree, aaron lewis sings it better than pearl jam

  • awesome

  • Damn.

  • Gotta give eddie credit for the song but aaron sings it better..

  • this staind dude likes all the same songs as me he did a cover of nothing else matters and 1 of nut shell by alice in chains and this is my favorite song dododododododoooo!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • me gusta mucho mas esta version que la original, la canta con mas sentimiento

y va mas acorde a la letra!!!

en fin, stiand es lo mejor!!!!

  • my pero my huena bkn sensasional k no konc esta kncion

  • AWESOME!!! My favorite Pearl Jam song....Aaron's voice is INCREDIBLE....I LOVE this version!!!!

  • i used to thingk eddie vedder had the best male voice in the world untill i heard this dude

  • Neither have the best male voice. They are both great singers but there are better.

  • dudes voice is absolutely mint.

  • if i did know better i would have thought it was eddie himself

  • wow, i wasnt sure he could pull it off, but i was VERY wrong - GREAT cover....

  • absolutely, awesome guitar here

  • Aaron has one of the greatest voices ever.

  • awsome

  • Why do people always have to compare 2 great performances and pick one as better than the other. I don't believe anyone on the planet sings with more emotion than Eddie Vedder, he is an intense brilliant vocalist. This is a great cover of one of the best songs ever written. No more needs to be said

  • very good...

" I know someday you'll have a beautiful life, I know you'll be the sun in somebody else's sky..."

  • Super

  • man staind as always been my fav band sence i was 14 im 23 now but im starting to hate aaron and the band for what they r i know they need money and all but dude if your not paying to be in there lil fAN page crap which is like almost 40 bucks a month r yr im not sure but still dude thats low i could

  • outrageous song its just sick crazy, i mean where does he get the lyrics and the way he sings it only he could do it, dam good

  • it's the song Black by Pearl Jam, Vedder's the man!!!!!!!!

  • my bad thought he did it should a read the title!

  • Aaron Lewis is indeed an amazing singer! He puts so much emotion in his singing, you can tell he's singing with his heart...this was amazing!

  • incredible. really enjoyed it

  • This is one of my fav songs of all time. To me its about my exfiance. This cover is one of the best Ive ever heard.

    -VV

  • This video and the song is really good..i hope il be someday like him :)! or at least a lil less haha

  • just luv that song ... and aaron is the best ... the voice is amazing

  • he changed "star" to "sun":

"i know you'll be the sun in somebady elses sky"

  • ummmm he said : "I know you'll be the sun

in somebody else's sky, but why... " like the original song

I didn´t listen to the sun change sky

By the way the song is so good XD :D

  • Actually the original one says:I know you'll be a star In somebody else's sky, but why, why, why Can't it be, can't it be mine.

I took the lyrics from pearljam dot com.

  • i prefer "star".. it makes the first line work independently. So "I know you'll be the star" has impact before "in somebody else's sky" comes in.

  • The lyrics, I believe, are meant to function as a whole. So saying the first line should work independently is admitting the fact that you don't actually know anything about songwriting.

It's a very good cover, the best I've seen of any Pearl Jam song, actually, but Eddie does it so many times better it's not even funny. He created the song, he wrote the lyrics, he alone can sing it like it was meant to be sang and with the right intensity: his intensity.

  • actually the original word is sun.

    -VV

  • Actually....it's star.A good cover I have to say but no one will EVER compare to Eddie Vedder in anyway....EVER.

  • I think that in the Eddie voice as in the voice of Aaron the song is VERY VERY GOOD, AMAZING :D in the voice of both BLACK it is SO GOOD!

    I love Eddie :D...

  • Best Staind cover ever.......Pearl Jam couldn't have done it better. Aaron feels the pain of the words. As do I and they hurt.

  • unfassbar, echt stark gemacht...

  • I used to watch Aaron do covers of Pearl Jam songs back in the early 90's in a small club in West Springfield MA., they were always awesome!!!

  • BEST VERSION BY FAR!

  • fuck yeah. mORE moVinG than PJ.

  • Aaron did a remarkable job, I wouldn't say he butchered it, I'd say he added his own jazz to it.

I loved it, especially at 3:06

  • SankDog youre an idiot.

  • Thanks for your insight.

I've read through the posts here and I think that you should be directing your remarks elsewhere.

  • And i think you should plat in on-coming traffic

  • Well thats just charming.

This place is full of such wonderful people. I think I will come here more often.

  • cool well i think i dont give a fuck what you think,.

  • staind make the best covers dude...

  • I wish Staind's music could be as good as their covers! I think this is better than Pearl Jam, however their original songs are absolutely lame....they need to show more emotion in their music, like this!

  • are you joking, show more emotion?

Aaron puts the most emotion in his songs i've ever seen in a singer

  • Aaron se lleva las medallas haciendo covers

  • As always, Aaron sings with such passion and emotion. Great version from one of ROCKS best lyricist and singers. Yes, Eddie Vedder is also on that list.

  • Aaron is the best xD

  • really nice cover

  • muy buena versión...

  • he did damn good.

  • nagmayat nga kanta!

  • ill admit it, great cover, i still prefer eddie but yeah good one aaron thumbs up dude.

  • stainds singer is 15 TIMES better and more emotional then eddie.

  • more emotional, maybe, better? nah i dont think so, i mean honestly you can tell aaron up to some extent looks up to eddie and his voice, i bet that even if you had aaron face to face and ask him who was better, he'd say eddie too, now no offense i love staind and i think aaron kicks ass but nah i still think eddie is better, try searching the unplugged version of black from pearl jam, you wont be disappointed

  • yes... i agree.,.. pearl jams version is GREAT also... I guess I just like aarons voice more.... but they are both GREAT bands!!!!

  • U wish :-)

  • eddie's version is more...desperate, you could say. he sounds kind of just-this-side-of-nuts when he sings, and I think a lot of people like aaron's version better because it freaks them out less.

  • mmmm yeah you got a point there, thats why I respect who ever likes aarons version more, but like I said in my opinion I prefer pearl jams

  • so do i, but both have their merits

  • not many can pull it off

  • BEST BAND TO SEE LIVE 4 SURE!!

  • Incredible

  • brilliant

  • se la rifa el maldito gordo que se parece a mi primo el patas!!!!!!!!!!!

  • lol well said staindfan..

  • this is a damn good cover, great voice as usual.....

  • god damn this brings tears to ur eyes

  • agreed, i feel the same

  • feel the same here

  • feel the same here

  • Do you always go to videos so you can put some smart ass comment on there scholtemarco?

  • I normally don't care much for that cry baby Aaron Lewis with his "look at me I am so sad and singing songs filled with self-pitying lyrics" crap, but he covered this song very nicely.

  • No douche bag, he sings about his life, and if you noticed, as his life has progressed more into happier times so has his lyrics. The man is only singing about what he feels and how he felt. What kind of douche can fault him for that? He's not gonna write lyrics about stupid bullshit. He's going to write lyrics based on his life.
