  • I definitely get what it's for.

But, cant you tie a weight to the wire?

And then just swing it and toss it over the tree?

    Just saying.

  • Where did you find the flat reel to coil your antenna and rope, I would like to have something like that for a portable dipole. Thanks for the video!

  • why dont you just use a regular rod and reel

  • @salmer666 there is no space it cast it, I can be more accurate with a slingshot, its smaller and overall quicker and easier then setting up a fishing rod.

  • You'v been getting some practice in before making the vid. Nice one. Could not do better myself. Hi. Use't to use a bow and arrow with parra cord to sling wire dipoles up in the jungle to use with A41 sets. Or a wire ant for A13 set. worked great, always got through. Certa Cito.

  • I saw a commercial version called the "EZ Hang." Cost: $100/ £60 for the basic model. I figured I could easily home brew one. A wrist rocket, a fishing reel, hose clamps and a stick--how much easier could it be? And much cheaper, too. $10- $15 for a reel, $10 for a wrist rocket, $2 bucks for clamps, $0 for stick. If you already have one or more of these things, so much the better.

Thanks for showing people how easily these can be made and how well they work.

  • nice job. ill hve to take a slingshot with me the next time i go shore fishing. really though in the army all we had was a small linesman pliers with a hole in the handle and whip the line up into a tree.

  • 1 guy is a retard........

  • reat aproach.. I used to use a small transformer and a heavy string for first throw.. Got it done, but this is one heck of a lot more accurate..

  • looka mor like a good fishing rod

  • EXCELLENT!!!

  • Good problem solving.

  • good video mark thanks. very good idea .

  • wow thats really clever lol,im getting a slinshot off of amazon in a couple of days, but i would never think of that practicality xD

  • Hookshot!

  • I'll demonstrate my ignorance. Thought you were shooting car aerials (antennas). lol!!! Obviously I'm not a radio geek. Looks interesting to me. Knew a guy named Carnes. He took his ham set into class during college and communicated with Morse code after he finished an exam. He seemed to always complete his exams first.

  • what is this thing used for dont get mad at me i haven't watched the whole video yet

  • @x18xShOoTeRx18x Hi there

Its used to easily get wires high up over trees to use as antennas.

    Mark

  • that cool good video im just got in to ham radio how do you hook the radio to the antenna maybe that part 2 right 5*****

  • Great demo.

Loved the hazel twig mod ; Ray Mears meets Amateur Radio!

  • Very cool - nice demonstration! thanks!

  • So you dont actually secure it in the tree? You just run it over the tree, then to a fixed point?

Does the wire blow around much in heavy wind to the point it may affect swr or rf output?

Great video by the way. Thanks for showing us how its done.
