God damn, that Charizard gave me goosebumps. Even though HG/SS were awesome, they will never compare to the freaking epics of the original Johto adventures. I bought HeartGold for the nostalgia (classic theme options FTW), and a new GBA charger just for comparison to G/S/C. I hope they make a remake for Crystal, even though they probably won't.

@BudewIsOwnage HG/SS are remakes of Crystal, maybe not by name, but all the extra parts of Crystal are in these games, such as the Suicune and Eusine side-story, and the battle tower from crystal is now battle frontier.

Diamond and Pearl came out 3 days before I turned 16. Platinum came out just a couple years after that. And now we have Black and White. I've owned, and played, every single Pokemon (version) game. Pokemon is definitely universal. Anyone who is now 30 would've had to've started playing at 17.

One thing I thought was real cool at the time was the references to late 90's technology like the Poke Gear (cellphone) and e-mails.

As a techie looking back on this not only brings back memories of playing the game in the summer, but it brings back the feelings of using e-mails to communicate on a dialup and the first call I ever made on a cellphone the size of the Game Boy I was playing on.

Still no matter how great the new DS versions and remakes are, i still dont get the nice warm feeling inside of me of the good-old days of yellow, gold/silver and crystal D: i feel so bad that i traded in all of those games when ruby came out just to get it, now i miss it soo much. But all of you probably agree with me wen i say that the older pokemon games we grew up on:had a much better story and left deeper memories in us that we will always enjoy remembering :D

The only reason you don't feel that way is because you've played it before. Its not new or different from anything you've seen before

I am SO glad I came across these games (G/S, and courtesy of Gamestop). I then fixed the battery in both G/S (replaced that burned out shit with an Energizer 2025), and even bought a GBC link cable (again courtesy of Gamestop) to relive the GOOD OLD DAYS OF POKEMON! Oh the nostalgia!!!! You should do the same. Now that I think about it, I DEEPLY regret not getting Crystal back when I first saw it in Gamestop! DAMN it, but Gamestop FTW obviously!!!!
