Me and my family drove past this when we were about to cross the boarder we saw the balloon but it was not on fire at the time, later that day after shopping in washington we came back across and we were listening on the radio and what do you know, Hot air balloon on fire.
My auntie was in it and jumped out at 170 feet in the air... she crushed everything under her pelvis but still lived. when she jumped out she brought someone else with her. They were is way worse condition but still lived and wasnt shown on the news.
I stand corrected. You're a commercial pilot that provides simpleminded and sarcastic commentary on YouTube.
You may be accomplished in your occupation, but it's not apparent in your YouTube comment to raindreamer333. Next time you have a co-worker express sorrow regarding a horrific death in a small community, try your "pointless" remark in that situation.
I'm sure it will be good for your career.
I still say you've got asimple future, as a pilot, if you keep this up.
Survivor Diana Rutledge jumped from the balloon with a female German tourist They dropped about five storeys to the ground, she told Global BC from her hospital bed Saturday, where she's recovering with several broken bones in her feet.
Some people had jumped out of the balloon so the balloon skyrocketed straight up. And I thought, 'Ok, it's do or die,'""So I got my legs over the balloon, and as I was leaving the balloon, I put my arms around the woman next to me and I took her with me.
Don't ever compare yourselves to us. We're far better than Canada in terms of everything - economy, military, political power, research and development, science, technology.
Where does Canada stand?
There's a reason we call you a third world nation.
Where does the US stand? You say better economy and everything else, but havn't really backed it up?
That's why most people in this world think little of the American intellect. Do you, like most Americans, think that your military should speak for you, eh? Or, can you actually provide some justification for your strong comments, really?
What you're saying is the US economy is about 10 times Canada's, right? That makes good sense, since our population is about 1/10th of the US. So, I'd say our international economic position is proportionally equal to the US.
The Canadian dollar today reached $1.08 US and the US Federal Reserve is soon going to adjust the Interest Rate agaian, way ahead of schedule, to respond to the failing Greenback. Canada's economic strength and overall quality of life will always exceed the US standard, because of the USA's dependency on Canadian energy exports.
OOoooooh, the Canadian dollar has reached $1.08 US! After how many years? More than 30? Congratulations! It took you 30 long years to beat us!
And how long do you expect your currency rate to exceed ours? Your industries are being hurt and your dollar will eventually come down, in about a year or so.
Your standard of living, economy, currency strength - everything is dependent on the US.
Ok, if you say so. Seems you've lost your argument somewhere. The US Fed is talking about a "recession" while the Canadian economy is growing and all indicators are it's strong and the dollar is not growing too fast. Sure we'll take a hit on manufacturing and material exports, but not natural resource exports (mainly energy and logs) since the world still wants that stuff, at market value, including the USA. Trouble now for the US is it's getting harder and harder to buy anything.
No, Canuckistan IS taking a huge hit on the lumber industry because: 1) the rate of exchange 2) the American housing downturn has reduced demand for your products.
The world does need all those resources you mentioned, but over half of the world conduct trade in US dollars. And since our money will buy less of your exports, you can expect the world to reduce Canadian imports into their country.
The huge hit in lumber exports began more than 3 years ago, when the Canadian dollar was much lower. That occured due to the Asian market declining, not the American housing market. The US has been building with lower quality USA softwood (pine) for a few years now, despite the pressure of US builders on the Bush Adsministration to allow more Canadian imports of better Fir products. Today things are different, our raw log exports are booming while lumber has been remained flat.
If your lumber is booming, why is there so much outcry about it declining?
Your own economists predict Canadian industries will take a huge hit because of the high dollar.
Canada hasn't invested too much in Asia. Most of your eggs are in one basket.
And we've already started reducing Canadian imports into our country.
When will dumb Canucks understand that a stronger currency will reduce Canadian imports into the US and the rest of the countries that trade in US dollars?
While you GOOGLE stuff, I'm talking about things I undersand. The lumber industry is stable and has been for quite some time. The only "outcry" WAS (noted past tense) about US tariffs that were declared illegal under NAFTA and the US paid $1.8B in penalties. Many Candadian and US mills closed because of those tariffs. The tariffs were imposed so the US market wouldn't collapse after the Asian HOUSING decline in 2000.
A rising Cdn dollar makes Canadian goods expensive - that reduces Canadian imports into the USA - which is why Canadian industries are being hurt financially. Not only does it reduce exports, but it increases imports as well.
A lower Cdn dollar makes Canadian goods less expensive - which increases Canadian imports into the USA - which is why Canadian industries benefit financially.
It's simple economics. What part of this process do you not understand?
DON'T LISTEN TO THIS GUY. I befriended this person under another user name. Surprisingly he is actually staunchly anti-American in his views. TheRealG admitted to me that he will go to online forums, claim to be an American and insult people from other countries to purposely generate hate against Americans. This is definitely the wrong vid post for this "discussion". Let's continue somewhere else? let me know the vid and I'll go there.
Why? because I'm very interested to know your views on the R&D you mention, technology you mentioned and other things. Your comments on Economy are, as expected, based solely on a single indicator (a good one mind you) but is a very limited "fuck you" type of response.
There's no question the exchange rate on the US Dollar is an important indicator of the strength of the American economy, right?
Two years ago the Canadian dollar would buy only 0.65 of a US Buck. Right now, the US Dollar and Canadian Dollar are equal internationally.
Truth is this, the Canadian economy has been solidly out-performing the US economy for a while now. Same things for most other G8 nations. Trouble is the US consumes, while other nations produce.

i'm amazed that in this day and age with all the safety standards we live with, that is even legal to fly a hot air balloon. i wouldn't consider getting in one of these before this accident and i can see i've been making the right choice. so, sorry to the people who were injured/killed but it was their ignorant choice and they have to deal with the consequences
Do you want to know what was ignorant? You making that comment. It was totally rude and unnecessary. I happen to know the immediate family of the two women who lost their lives, and u being a jackass sure mkaes me fume, as i have nothing but respect for those poor, unfortunate people.
That would be infeasible, but the real question is: where are the fire extinguishers and where is the (assumed)well-trained pilot who should have effectivly used them. A safety breif induction to passenger is a must as well in all time.

I live about 5 miles from this particular trailer park. It's surrounded by agricultural land and most of the trailers are concentrated in one area. It's amazing that of all places it could have fallen, it had to fall into people's homes. I understand that as people jumped the balloon got lighter and higher leaving some to jump from fairly dangerous heights.
I'm sure everyone was ok.
