when from a big rock to a little rock. good job. too bad you made the vaule of that thunder egg close to nothing now.. (it wasnt worth shit to begin with..)
I get the impression this guy knows what he is doing. It's a pity the lack of any decent camera work and safety hazards detracted from what could have been an excellent lesson.
@Buckskins3216 i get the impression this guy takes the safety a bit too serious. lol.. i do this every day and i dont worry about eye glasses or dop sticks... (and yea yea yea/ people say you can get a better curve with a dop; but ive never had a problem proving old timers that i can do it just as good or better..) i facet rubies with dop sticks.. try that.
liked the video however....safety should be a concern even during the making of such a video...anytime you grind stone you should wear some form of breathing protection and also safety glasses...that towel hanging down and you leaning into the machines is just asking for problems...hang the towel off the waist or put a little towel rack on the edge of the table...other than that it was very informative thanks
very professional, very detailed explanation about faceting from a rough to a smoothed semi polished agate, please post more about a finished polish to shine example too, ^_^ thank you
Buy a good camera and make this videos good quality . Your work is waste this way and nobody will understand, except the advanced . I want to start learning basic lapidary , and I need practical details .
Interesting video. I would be wary about the dangling towel over the shoulder. Dangerous to have anything loose or dangling near any lathe. Made me rather nervous watching. Especially with the leaning over to switch machine on and off.
WHAT! Where is your eye protection? The first thing we are taught in lapidary school was to always wear eyeglasses for protection. Poor example of safety

Good Vidio.
But to fast in directions
2 - not close enough to see whats been done (and to quick to go on to next phase)
3 asumes to much eg that those watching are as good as he is !!!!!!!
4 SLOW down and take more close up shots and this would be a excelent teaching vidio

Good one matey, very interesting and well explained!
Just one little bit of advice: Be aware of the towel you carry around with ya, I seen an incident where the towel got dragged into a cutting wheel!

good video but I wish the quality was better and that there were more explanations about the process and the tools involved.
If you have any recommendations regarding where to obtain the tools and what is the approximate price that would be helpful too.
Thanks a bunch!

peterjohnsonazsxdc - dude, you have missed the whole point of lapidary.....to bring out the beauty that is locked up within a stone.

Really interesting to see the whole process of turning the ugly into the beautiful.
