He was going in reverse thinking that it will lead to the street that is on the same level. If you understood this language or have logic, you will know. the fence at the front of the car is going away from the building. also the area in front of the car has enough space for a car to drive through. He knows that he was not allowed to drive through the area but he did it so many times he was comfortable. maybe other people did it too.
