Thanks. No race group. Just a couple hacks on the track.
It's an R1 that Vince got for a steal off some dude who blew his retirement. Our buddy who houses the bikes in LA and whose work you may have seen in Sport Rider got it dyno'd and the tech said it set the highest HP he'd ever seen for an R1 (and it was on normal gas not the race stuff it's built for). Notice it pull away on the straights.
Original owner wants it back, but if interested we are putting it up for sale before it kills us.
awesome. I've got a 2002 R1 right now, completely stock. I want to build a track bike, so i might convert that or a GSXR 600. Is it pretty easy?? i can't imagine you do more than just cosmetics and tires, exhaust, PC...?
Before spending too much, go to a track day and wonder around. Ask the techs what they require before you take a bike on the track (ex: remove mirrors, tape up lights, tie-wire everything that might come loose in a crash). They have different groups from beginner, novice and racers. If serious I strongly recommend signing up to a race school for your first time. All the support you need and you get great advice and riding tips.
FYI: my R1 only has race ferrings and exhaust - goes plenty fast
The one we're selling is stupid and there are few tracks where you can actually use the extra power. The rider makes the difference. Look at Valentino Rossi.
Nice video. What racing group are you part of? bike?
