Nice looking app! As a fellow developer, may I ask how you slide the contents of the scene to the left when new topic is selected? Is that webOS feature, CSS transformation or JavaScript animation? Thanks.
@TrueVitaly It's surprisingly simple. It's JS based but Palm has a built-in API for it. I'm just using Mojo.Animation.animateStyle (details are available on Palm's dev center) and moving the whole block of stories left and right :)
Excellent work. Good job showing off how nice the Pre is also. I'm glad you got the Email notification to show how unabtrusive they are. Your app really fits the clean & efficient Pre style. Just those changes you mentioned and you have a winner. I'll even pay for it! I'm not a fan of the colors as a set. The blue is a brighter tone than the other two. Add a tiny bit of the gold to the blue (it will gray it down just a bit) and the colors will feel more like a matched set. Thank you.
@SFHndymn Thanks! Actually the colors look a little weird on the video due to the lighting and my crappy camera. In actual practice they look much better, very similar to the colors on the Digg website. I'm planning on adding a couple of different themes because I myself have waffled back and forth on the color scheme. I'd say that'd be a version 1.2 feature or somewhere around there.
@chefjabril11 Thanks. I have one app in the catalog right now, called Cabbie. It's just a simple taxicab locator, I wrote it to get familiar with webOS development. I have not decided on a cost yet, but there will be a free version called Diet Digloo which will be ad-supported and limited in features. I'm selling this to help pay for my wedding this summer, but I can promise you it will be a fair price.
Very Nice Sir! One question though, and not to sound like some sort of cheep ass. Will this be free? The reason I ask is all non-US folks still don't have the ability to buy apps from the store and it's becoming quite a pain. As we all know most of the good apps are paid for. Regardless great work, and I hope to be able to use it.
@markogreen Thanks! I really appreciate the feedback so far. There will be a free version of Digloo (called Diet Digloo) but it will be ad-supported and have less features. I definitely want to serve international users so as soon as Palm opens up to int'l sales I will offer the full version elsewhere.
@Pattersson There will be two versions, a free version (which I will call Diet Digloo) and a paid version. The free version will be available everywhere but the paid version won't be available until Palm opens their catalog to overseas (which I hear is happening soon). Thanks for the kind words!
@samkinkel I will be running a limited beta period once I'm satisfied with how its running. There are still a few bugs and features I still want to get worked in. Haven't decided on a cost yet but I will be offering an ad-supported, limited feature free version for people to try out. I promise you it will be a fair price, though :)
Thanks for your hard work, this is fantastic looking.

2 questions:
1. Do you have any other apps your working on?
2. And how much will it cost?

Wow, i'm excited for it! looks awesome!
But, I do have one suggestion, you might want to call it Diggloo, instead of Digloo, since Digg is spelled with 2 "G"s :)
good work!
samkinkel 1 year ago
@samkinkel Thanks! I'd love to spell it with 2 G's but Digg is very protective of their trademark and they would just make me change it anyway :(
rmxdave 1 year ago
Ah, that makes sense. Also, Igloo only has one G so I guess it fits there! haha.
Will you release a beta of this (to precentral)? Also, when it comes out, how much will the app cost?
Thanks :)
