@bigb771 Not nowadays but in his prime he certainly was. Most underrated player ever. And make sure when u bring him up to show them this vid as well ;)
Finley isn't shit compared to Dirk lol. Finley is one of those players that took more shots than he should have. He was never an efficient scorer, but just took so many shots he average 20pts.
He is nowhere close to as good as Dirk and when Dirk developed...it's no surprise that is when the team became truly legit. 2000: 20 shots to 22.6ppg? thats terrible...ANYONE ca do that on 20 shots...2001: 18.9 shots to 21.5ppg...crappy, 2002: 17.8 shots to 20.6pts...one of his better seasons but still shit...2003: 17.3 shots to 19.3pts...just fucking awful. Super overrated player that never should have been taking as many shots as he did. Never a star, but an chucking role player.
An example of how much better Dirk was than Finley, for dirk: 2001: 15.2 shots to 21.8ppg...finley as you see was 18.9 shots to 21.5pts...took 3.7 more shots but average .3 less pts? lmfao. 2002: dirk was 16.6 shots to 23.4pts...finely as you see 17.8 shots to 20.6pts...1.2 more shots to average 2.8pts less lol. Finley was a clown who was a glorified role player, period.
@BarstoolBlues33 1st, I never said Fins was better than anyone. 2nd, What does shots per game have to do with anything at all?? lol Jordan 22shots per game, Kobe 20 shots, A.i. even more. With your logic youre saying Jordan and Kobe are overrated role players? U obviously have a mancrush on Dirk. How long did it take you to put all those stats together?? LOL get a life!! The video proof of what I said is there for everyone to see. GAME WINNERS while Dirk and Nash watched, period.
Uh...are you stupid? I said he 20 shots to average 22.6ppg...thats terrible. Jordan and Kobe took those shots but actually scored a lot more than 22.6 points on that amount of shots...you obviously have no idea about efficiency but just look at ppg...
@BarstoolBlues33 Are you still talking? I thought I already buried you. He was also Dallas' best DEFENDER, D'ing up the other teams best player every night, and had enough energy to hit game winners and avg. 22. You know, defense? That thing Dirk cant do? You know, that 7 footer than gets worked under the boards like his 5'9? Yeah that guy. Fins was a complete player on both ends. Dirk is a great scorer and nothing more. Check out 1:37 thats efficiency son...Half man Half amazin, no doubt
it seems funny this guy is my second cousin whom his dad (my uncle) didn't care for so he got adopted as a child from his real dad (my uncle) ... so he doesn't know me or his real family... but it just feels weird people on youtube are braggin on him and how good he is and he happens to be MY cousin and is some what famous a little i guess. teehee
If the celtics played Finley and gave him an actual role they would be holding the championship title right now, they were down by two 3 pointers with little time left and they had out tony allen and nate robinson who were struggling to score, while michael finlay a guy who could come off the bench and make big shots in his sleep was, well sitting on the bench, they lost that game by as many points as finley would have had. he still has game, you see flashes of it, but he had no role this year.
people forget that for a while michael finley was among the best players in the league. on the "big three" of dallas with dirk, nash, and finley, it was finley who was the team leader until later in his career.
reason why he might get the green light more than last year, like i said i felt like he was itching to pull the trigger when they were missing scoring last year but poppovich forgot to tell him to pull it. I think he's gonna see the green light this year because he does not neccasarily have to play the tough defender instead of scoring i know you do both and he does still but u know what i mean, but playing alongside jefferson, we could see a revamped Finley.
Absolutely awesome video. He's my favorite player. It's to bad he had to adapt to another role when he went to the spurs. But he still has tons of game and when he's called upon he shows it. I actually like that he's slowd down with the spurs because he's slowd down due to choice, because with so many other scorers he's become a good defender and has not had to be to hard on his body. He has great field goal % this pre season and i hope alongside Jefferson coach will allow him more offense.
I do know what your saying but... 4 example last year when the spurs were missing scoring i noticed finley was itching the trigger finger but it's almost like poppovich forgot to tell him to pull it. I watch them a lot and i see so many flashes of things he wants to do but it is not what coach wants him to do. He's been a great role player and i think we will see a more productive Michael finley this year than last. Let's think positive and i hope to see him get the green light this year.
yer i havnt rly paid much attention to the pre season. hell probz become just a bit player off the becnh, with mason n ginobilli being the preferred sg's. i dunno we'll c, could be his last yr....
unlike alot of season veterans that are forced to retire through lack of production and or injury at least it will be his choice, if coach said your role is to score for us he would have been averaging his career numbers since he's been with the spurs but his role was to be a scorer when needed and aconstant solid defender to take on the tougher opponents instead of having ginobly get beat up.
He has a lot of big dunks and huge plays with the spurs, the thing is, the spurs already had there top 3 options and finley was there to play alongside bowen and be a scorer while bowen was on the floor, when he played with ginobly and so on, he became the tough physical defender, so he had the job of defending the toughest forward or guard on the opposition to help ginobli. check his stats out this pre season, looking good.
Blair has been impressive, he had a big 28 point game in the pre season, an sweety i think ur a girl? right? by ur pic u gots. There is no need to seek convincing about richard Jefferson he is an accomplished player and a bonified top 15 forward guard in the league a great all round player that will free up a lot of things for the spurs including finley and ginobly and everyone lol he is going to be huge.
Man Mike has always been 1 of my fav players especially n dallas he used 2 b on top of d world all-star wise but now he on top of d world bcuz he is winning championships wit San Antonio
@LukesdadTV dude he should have not said dat...a true fan will always want a ring on the banners...if it wasnt for dirk where would the mavs be...so stfu u dumb bitch and go kill yo self he nba is 72% black and im black and dirk is white so recognize greatness wen u see it hoe...dumb ass republican your kind is the reason this country is where it is today...fuck luke gingrich fuck mit romney and FUCK ELI MANNING
finley is such a good player (role player today), dunking, shooting treys, playing defense, theres nothing he cant do! he deserves the title he got with the spurs so much...
this might be the new american player of olympiacos in Greece
olympiacos made a 21million bucks constract offer to anthony parker(the only arican player who understands european basketball) but toronto said f.......NO so olympiacos will try to sing a veteran finley or francis
I've been a mavs fan since i can remember, cherokee parks, an loren myers, but when we traded kidd to get finley, cassel, an a.c green. I felt my heart break. Then when finley came in an played hard everyday an didnt nothing but everything he could to help turn this team around to the most winning reagular season teams in recent history. I can never boo him. I have a #4 tat on my arm dedicated. I hope we can resign him so he can retire a mav if at all possible. Go Mike, getcha another ring.
Yeah, I know what you mean. Which trade hade more of an impact to you? The Kidd trade or the Jackson trade? If you ask me, it's the Jackson trade. Because they started to work together right when Jimmy got traded?
i m fin's fan from dallas, they aint got that one dunk when he broke the damn camera agianst the spurs. also when he threw it down on donyell harvey, remember him?
yinka dare... whoever you are... keep on putting these videos up man they ain't stopping... better not stop... yinka puts it down boy... good look on the fin... can you make one for gerald green and vc?
FINLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEYYYYYYYYYY! BEAUTIFUL BASKETBALL, MAN! SA IS LUCKY TO HAVE YOU! WE LOVE YOU, FINNNNLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEY! DALLAS IS CRYIN' NOW! THEY LOST "YOU" AND STEVE NASH . . . AND WASN'T KIDD WITH THEM! BIG MISTAKES THAT FRANCHISE MAKES. SAN ANTONIO'S SMART, PICKS WINNERS! you're a winner, fin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WE LOVE YOU! YOU DESERVE THE GOLD!
Dallas traded away Kidd to get Finley. Nash was injury-prone and was offered a 60mil contract by Phoenix (nothing could be done apart from offer him a bigger contract. He wouldn't have been MVP-quality in Dallas anyway since he lacked his ideal cast. Finley waived for luxury tax issues. Most Dallas fans (apart from bandwagoners and Cuban supporters) appreciate Fin's work and are happy for him winning the championship as he turned Dallas around.
I hate don Nelson for that. But I love him for the 2000-01 season when Dirk, Nash, and Finley made that run. If only i could find a game or some clips from then.
so over looked because he is butt ugly lol who said best starting five had Popeye jones in it? what an idiot any lineup with popeye in it is handicapped
Dang, I'm trying to find one of Finley's buzzer beater's back in the day. I think it was his rookie or second year. There were two blocked shots, then Finley caught it in midair and chucked it against his body from around half court and drained it. The thing I noticed about Finley is he has exceptional ability to adjust his shot for his body's movement. It allows him to make off-balance shots.
no but i hav one that my dad bought me i will ask him and get back to you i love mike fin this nigga my idol the reason im going to wiscosin to play football
I'm a Mavs fan. The Spurs Mavs series could have gone either way. I'm glad the mavs won, and should have won it all. Fin was let go by the Mavericks via this years new amnesty clause. How can you be a Mavs fan and not know that? "You never open your mouth until you know what the shot is. You fucking child."
