This is a great tool but I wish they make a plugin called "TAPE MEASURE 360"
For example: You measure (1 time) from the bottom of your model house to where you want the bottom of your window to go. Then it put guide lines all around your model so you know the bottom of your windows are all the same height.
Aidan, your video is great and all, but I always have the same problem: no matter what I try, I never get that option dialog. Is there anything I can do to enable it?
is there any way to resize certain parts of the model? say i have several models within one file or project as concepts but i want them to be like real scale, some models are bigger than the others
here the hole model resize because of one thing.. can i resize this one thing without resizing the hole model ? because i just finished drawing my building but using unreal mesurements,so i want to resize every single thing in my model to real mesurements. can i do that ?if yes please tell me how. thank u
Your videos are a real treasure, really quick way of learning.Of course i got the book too,but it's easier to learn while at the job by watching youtube videos :D.
Aidan. I think you make GREAT vids. Always very informative. However, for me, you tend to orbit too much. The presentation becomes a bit dizzying at times. Might help if you take your hand off the mouse while you are discussing something that doesn't require you to point at it to make the viewer understand it.. This way, you won't have a tendency to move the mouse about quickly and unnecessarily.
How do I resize something, without resizing the entire model? I'm making a box, and I want a specific height, but whenever I make it free hand I can't make it the desired height because it's always 5inches and some fraction, and I want 6 inches dead on, but I can't. But if I use the tape measure, I can enter in 6 inches, but then if I don't resize the entire model, they won't resize the line!
Your computer loads soo fast. How much ram/memory do you have? How much do you need? I have a 13.3" macbook with 1GB of memory/2(512MB) and it is really slow/locks up every time I make an adjustment. Comment back or email. Please thank you.

this is what I want to know too! I don't know why you can't just resize the selected item instead of the whole model.. :(
brandon9271 2 years ago
Make the selected item into a group or component, then edit the group, then resize it.

Same problem (Mac OS 10.6) in Sketchup 7 -- but it works in Sketchup 6. But "stupid google" seems unfair. I'd like to be that stupid.

first off... i gotta totally agree with ChrisBence, thats hilarious.
second... I can't believe you would have the nerve to delete Bryce who has been wanting to be in all these vids and then use his brother. tsk tsk

Thanks a lot for this tip. I have been looking forever on how to do this. Keep up the great videos.

haha I found it very funny that the door was 3' 4" initially... Kinda killed the dramatic size changing effect you were looking for! :)
