  • What happens when they hit LAVA

  • I've operated a Marion 8900, BE 2570, and a BE 1250. And I wouldn't say this operator is a good operator, but he does have someone right behind him filming and asking all kinds of questions, which can be quite distracting. To his credit, notice how he lets the big rock out of the bucket real easy. Operators do this because if that rock hits the arch it will break. Point sheaves swivel to allow for some side movement, but he should time his swing better in order to keep the bucket under the boom.

  • Mate , you obviously do not understand what we have been talking about as the type of damage this guy is doing doesn't happen on one shift. He is loading the boom up so much every shift that a boom that should last more than 10 - 15 years will fail in half that time . But probibly when someone else is operating. This has nothing to do with where he is told to dig or dump.

  • You just rock up, do your swing shift, dig to the engineers pit design specs, dump where they want it, you fuck up, don't worry they will let you know. At the end of the swing shift, and as long as you dig and move the required BCMs, and the machines in good working order at the handover to the next crew, keep the big girl rolling : )..the guy in the clip, he's dumping where he's told to dump, not where he wants to, and he's doing ok, at least he's moving dirt : )

  • Yep I have 2 agree with PKKD1!!! my trainer used to chip me for swinging the bucket outside boom point, anything ova 6degrees outside of boom point was putting stress all ova the boom

  • Before making accusations of my so called lack of experience , tell us about your's ! I would be very interested as to where you operated as I know a few operators and trainers in the US who may know you if you have worked around a bit. Also you did not provide any opposing digging method to disprove my comments. Just another MOUTH who knows nothing.

  • Cool video of experienced operator.

Seems there's a major internet-digger here also, well experienced in maneuvoring a dragline via both keyboard & mouse .... and evidently by mouth also, judging by how well the guy thinks he can DESCRIBE the appropriate method of drag-lining.

I didn't know any equipment game yet had voice-operated control options. So PKKD1, which video-game are you using as a reference to your claims of being dragline-knowledgeable? I'd love to have a copy of that game.

  • WKHalford are you the operator ?

  • Or maybe out of these people comenting Iam the only one who does!

Anyone who knows how to "Operate" a dragline will keep the bucket under boom point. Now if you ask an operator , not a drive,r he will tell you this is , as a boom is not meant to have side loading, only compression loading. Also look at the dig face , there is no consistancy. You should not believe everything you are told on youtube. Maybe you should ask how much experience these other people have on draglines especially edktm

  • This guy is like lightening !! Never digs or dumps in the same place twice !! No digging method at all.

  • @PKKD1 It occurs to me that you are the only commenter here to say anything negative about the operator's method of digging. That tells me that you don't know what you are talking about.

  • Awesome! Love watching a good operator in action. Too bad there's no sound.

  • Very smooth, no wasted motion. Great video.

  • I agree, excellent use of momentum and very little swing actually occuring here.I

  • Good operator, nice casting. Way to keep the spreader bar off the bucket when dragging. Notice how he stops the swing and allows the momentum of the bucket to get it to the spoil pile. Very nice
