  • I have been dealing with bad sinus infection for the past 2 or 3 years now...I am so annoyed I want to ask my doctor if I qualify for the surgery....buuuut im way too scared!

  • was he/she alseep? D:

  • what was that thing in his nose, the thing you cut up?

  • @MsDancer1203 cartalidge

  • YES this is the first video i have seen that comments dont end up in a fight lol lets keep up the good work lol jkjk

  • And this was all done in the kitchens of the Campbell's Soup people.

  • My hard goes out to this poor young man, this is fucking barbaric !!!

  • so is there any residual smell/taste of burnt tissue?

  • no fucking thank you ill just breath fucked up for the rest of my life shit looks hell

  • @doriantaylor66

It's actually not, when I'm 17 now, but when I was 13 I had both of these surgeries done at once. I had enlarged adenoids on both my left and right side, then when they started the sceptoplasty, they had to break the bone off that they show in this video with a hammer and a chisel. When I woke up I could finally breathe through my nose without running out of breathe because of it being so clogged all the time. They had splints in my nose which were taken out in a week.

  • @litledevel15 the drug that they give you does it make you feel odd i hate being on drugs it just feels like hell

  • @doriantaylor66

They didn't prescribe to any drugs other than allergy pills, no painkillers at all. The only real pain I had was in my throat because of the breathing tube they put in your mouth when they put you to sleep. No pain in my nose except from the pressure of the splints.

  • @doriantaylor66

I was fully recovered in about 4-5 days.

  • @doriantaylor66 LOL well said hehe

  • Oh the misery of these vile, fetid, disease and deformity riddled prison suits we call bodies...

  • Shit that must of hurt

  • PLEASE SAY THIS GUY WAS OUT COLD WHEN THIS HAPPENED!!

  • is this an elective surgery

  • Watching this made me feel like I just got punched in the nose.. -cringe-

  • i rathr just blow mi nose evryday

  • aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. what have i done

  • I was just watching ear wax removal and I wound up here.

    This is terrifying.

  • Now I understand why doctors like this get payed so much money.

  • Looks like cutting thru chicken. Ew

  • Just curious...I'm not having this done or anything, but why does doing something like this cost soo much money?

  • So the whole point of this surgery was to do what to help the patient?

  • @soonerfrk1 Deviated septum causes inadequate drainage of the sinuses, making the patient susceptible to frequent infections. Adenoids are enlarged, making it hard or impossible to breathe nasally.

  • OWWW

  • why do I pay $265 for Anatomy 2 lab book when I can just watch your vids and learn even more? lol

  • I have had sinus issues my whole life... right now I have something serious going on. Sore throat, head ache, sinus pressure, drainage, etc.. and my doctors say its not the flu.. they don't know what it is. I was feeling my sinuses and the ones undermy cheek bones HURT when I touch them. What does this mean?

  • @totallyawesomespider Sounds like you have a sinus infection which requires oral antibiotics. Better re see your doctor

  • @NoseMD yeah my cousin came up with it a few months ago

  • @totallyawesomespider My son has had it for about 5 weeks now, I got it too but mine turned into Bronchitis! My doctor said there is a REALLY weird throat sinus infection bug going around right now - some have non stop coughing too! I agree with totally awesome you need to get on antibiotics!

  • @bambis46 you should get Sinus Rinse from walmart/walgreens.

  • @totallyawesomespider I had this problem before and I did a little search on google which said I need to buy the Sinus Rinse from walgreen or walmart for $12 and after a week of used I felt so much better, the best feeling ever.

  • How did I get here?

  • May I know, how much does it cost to do this surgery?

  • @Ecwoable in the USA several thousand dollars (US)

  • @Ecwoable before you bother use google scholar to see how effective these are 10-15 years down the road. There are only a few studies out there but more than 50% of patients report the same symptoms longterm after surgery.

  • is that blood in his ear?

  • @FeathersHeather Sorry, we are in the nose only

  • @NoseMD what happened to this patience

  • @NoseMD i REALLY lolled at that

  • @FeathersHeather

whats all that black looking burnt stuff? looks almost fungal, is that from lost of cocaine or something?

  • @Jordyjg

    that was for dr nose...

  • Do u stay awake for this? and how bad of pain are you in afterwards. I only went to a doctor once for my nasal problems when I was young. One side I have never been able to breath out of and my other one isn't any better. I ended up getting addicted for affrin for over ten years and now I am winged off and I'm always miserable. I know something has to be done but I hate pain.

  • @Dusty696969 I perform this under general anesthesia. It can be performed under a twilight too. Not really painful

  • @NoseMD You know of any good doctors in the St.Louis Missouri area?

  • does it hurt :L

  • with the untrained eye, this looks like a huge mess! Glad you know what you're looking for.

  • @germb747 yes I do

  • Poor kiddo probably couldn't breathe - - and snored like drunken grizzly bear.

  • @HayPennie correct

  • @NoseMD God Bless Doctors. (And God save them from Obamacare).

    ; )

  • Too many big words

  • what you did is actually an endoscopic SMR, i think this should not be called Septoplasty

  • @ausafakhan SMR usually means U remove all the cartilage and dont replace it. Since I always replace cartilage back I consider this a Septoplasty. Since original descriptions of these procedures,.... the typical technique today is a blend of both.

  • im in bon appetite part of youtube again

  • i will never look at a pair of scissors without puking again

  • Don't know why but I find these videos so interesting.

  • Is this what sex looks like from the penis's view?

  • How is this related to minecraft videos ? O.0

  • @coolsphinx64 I can't say it is

  • YUM!

  • IS HE ALIVE???

  • @rufusbruder Yes this person is a live and well and breathing much better.

  • How would something like this be done before those cameras were available?

  • @bigredc222 Excellent question! Most surgeons do NOT use the camera for this procedure. They look thru the nose with a head light to straighten a deviated nasal septum. To remove the adenoids they look through the mouth and use a mirror with head light.

  • @NoseMD

I never had any idea there was so much going on in there, it's very interesting, thanks for posting the video's.

  • @NoseMD How would this be caused?

  • I was watching kitten videos =I

  • what are the benefits of doing this?

  • @fl4mz3 correcting nasal blockage (obstruction). This person had chronic mouth breathing, snoring and dry mouth and nose. This corrected these symptoms. Also, this patient felt blocked in their nose when exercising.

  • 1:09 is a nose :D

  • COOL!!

  • Wow I can here by chance, and never knew such surgery existed.

I have a deviated septum, found out when I had a breathing tube place in my nose (for training). It a bit harder to breath out of my right nostril but dose not bother me much, I guess I might be use to it.

Is there any benefit for getting this done?

  • @FrailShiver After so many years with a severely deviated septum my doctor thought the only answer was this operation. I was informed that there was a chance of the septum bending back to its original shape as cartilage has a "memory". After the op I wasn't in much pain at all (just a headache from the anesthetic). There was a massive change at first but after a few months it started to deviate again. This doesn't happen to everyone though. If it's not bothering you now, it may not be worth it :)

  • Im Hungry :3

  • what if the doctor forget any part of your broken septum????? :O

  • that does not hurt

  • How does this happen to people??

  • Extracting worms, harvesting pus, and maggot eaten flesh don't make me gag. I have found my stomach can't take the sight of cartalage getting crushed. Yay!

  • Looks so painful

  • blood 0.0

  • Dear Nose MD, is it common to got loss of sensation in particular areas due to destruction of septal cartillarge on which certain nerves pass along, such as nasopalatine nerve from V2 which innervates area around maxillary incisors? Did the patient with enlarged pharyngeal tonsils experience any impairment in hearing due to blockage of opening of pharyngotympanic tube?

  • I had an adenoidectomy at the same time as having a tonsilectomy. The adenoidectomy provided very quick healing, my ear pressure/sinuses were a little weird for a few days, but the tonsil removal was paaainnnnnful. They essentially burn the wound closed. My tonsils were infected and swollen so the wound was especially large, therefore a gigantic burn wound in the back of your throat.

  • how much does it cost to have this done?

  • @2glocksmcgraw There are usually three costs for this procedure which are typically covered by insurance. These include the fees for facility (outpatient or hospital), surgeon and anesthesiologist. Paying out of pocket it is best to get an estimate since prices can vary on location, facility setting and surgeon experience.

  • omnomnomnomnomnom

  • Wow!

  • I need this surgery incredibly bad but can't afford it. Nose has been nearly 100% swollen shut for 11 years now. Can you give me an estimate on how much this tends to cost overall?

  • @bratboy122101 It's free if you live in Canada.

  • @Brandywhiskey46 Believe me I would love to.

  • Lol I kept saying "ow" the whole video

  • Is this done in the nose? And if so, will this affect smell?

  • Looks like fish.

  • Does anyone know what the video from Tosh.0 was? I only caught the end of it and have been trying to find it, it looked like something was removed from someone's nose.

  • I was not asleep when this was done to me but the Diapam 10mg and the local anesthesy was well done and I could only feel a little pressure when the "burning" was done. Not bad. Easy to breath afterwards ( when the splints have been removed) and its like another life.

  • What cartilidge did you remove?

  • this guy had to be dead

  • This is amazing, takes such precision!

  • Does it hurt?

  • @schoolboy50cal NO it does not hurt. The procedure is performed while asleep. After surgery usually just tylenol is all that is required.

  • @NoseMD are you sure it looks like it would hurt

  • @schoolboy50cal Well It depends, I just had that surgery yesterday I just remember going into the ER, the doctor put the anesthesia then I don't remember anything only waking up like a few hours later in the recovery room and as soon as I woke up I cried from the pain it was painful >.< and the nurse did put medicine for the pain but still crying from the pain

  • @NormalWinterFox Pain is very subjective and people react differently. If pain medications are not controlling the situiation you should contact your surgeon because something may not be right. if you have packing that may be the major problem. Since I don't pack, my patients have less discomfort than those patients that require packing. BTS MD

  • thank you for the narrated informative vids! :) muchappreciated !

  • @NoseMD my confusion is that by removing the nasal septum cartilage, doesn't the nose lose it's rigidity ?

  • @VoiceOfArmani removing parts and replacing some back to maintain rigidity ,function and form. BTSMD

  • @NoseMD mean nose will not lose it's form and shape but will just get straight?

  • @NoseMD 2:16 what r u cutting? or breaking

  • WOW

  • @PrettyTigerlilly

Did you ever get it done? I'd rather be able to breathe, personally. I hope you did!

  • Badass

  • i have had a deviated septum since i was born and it has gotten worse

  • I've had a deviated septum for almost a year now, so annoying!

  • fascinating

  • @PrettyTigerlilly i know right. that looks terrible!!

  • 0.05 : what is that orange stain looking growth on the right? it's on the left at 0.09

  • @PrettyTigerlilly You would be asleep during the operation and wouldn't feel a thing. Second, if you really need the operation a little discomfort would be a great benefit to breathe again. Air hunger of the nose with mouth breathing and sinus problems is certainly no picnic. Best of luck.

    BTS MD

  • @NoseMD TBH, I am terrified of the anesthetic more than anything.

  • is this under general or local anesthetic?

  • @SantomPh it depends. I've read up here on the net and some people seem to of had it under local. I had it under general. Thankfully.

  • WOW

  • what the hell is those big chunk

  • Man this sucks. I have been a mouth breather my whole life and I have really suffered the effects from it. I can't believe this is what I am going to have to go through to correct this at some point. Another awesome thing is insurance typically doesn't cover these procedures because they are labeled as "cosmetic" (mine definitely doesn't) and this surgery seems to run on average OVER 3000 dollars.

Yeah I am pretty much fucked

  • @clayto1332 This is medically necessary surgery and should be covered by health insurance..usually. Depends on your policy. The good news is, if this is indeed your problem the surgery usually CURES the problem.

  • @clayto1332 I have same thing as you do, but now my sinuses are clogged on right side of my face, It has been really bad for last 8 weeks, tried to clear it up with 3 different antibiotics with no effect. My doc said I need surgery to open my passages. I had CT scan today, appointment with doctor in 4 days to discuss CT and hopefully surgery week later, my brother had it done last year, he is very happy with results.

  • That was severe work performed - I know that is not your usual procedure, more like three in one (or more!). I would like to ask, if you can answer without breaking privacy practices - what was the underlying cause of this patients issues? Was it several conditions or predispositions that were inherent since birth, or trauma, possible drug use, or a vast combination of many factors? I'm just curious from a medical standpoint. Wonderful work, I enjoy watching your videos very much!

  • @megyerdononThis is typical surgery in most ENT surgeons hands. What is atypical is the use of endoscopes to perform these procedures.

Adenoidectomy is a very common operation. It is usually performed under

the age of three or with removal of tonsils.

It is usually performed transoral with a mirror and some instrument to

remove the adenoids (i.e. curette, suction bovie). BTS MD

  • I'm not in the medical field by any means - but this is pretty dang amazing. Great work!

  • @bleedingblue98052 thanks BTSMD

  • Thanks

    BTS MD

  • I love your videos! They are so nosy xD. But yea I like how you just take out those..I don't know what they are but they ARE bad. This is awesome!

  • Awesome!

    very brief and informative. Thanks!
