And for the last time, atheists don't hate god. We can't hate what isn't there. America is a free nation. We have Muslims, and Buddhists, and Jews, not just christians. So shut your whiny ass, and keep it to yourself.
@rampaginwalrus In my experience atheists are some of the most hateful and judgmental people that I have ever come across. Here in the UK they really evangelize their beliefs and try to humiliate anyone who has a faith in a religion.
@foxylord; Do you ever hear of an Atheist killing a Christian for their beliefs? Or of Atheists standing out in front of a church with big signs saying "You've wasted your life, fuck you!" I haven't either. The worst I see is internet comments by Atheists trying to reason or discuss religion with Theists. Then the Theists getting mad at the Atheists for bringing up something they can't dispute. Although even if it were true; that we are bitter people, it wouldn't make god(s) any more real.
@rampaginwalrus Actually I have been assaulted outside a church by atheists several times & it isn't an isolated thing either. I've read a lot of news items about atheists getting physical with religious people.
Atheists kill Christians too. Communists are essentially atheists whether or not they say it's in the name of atheism they are still atheists killing theists for their beliefs. Hitler was an atheist who regarded many religions as an excuse to kill & murdered millions.
@foxylord; The first bit surprised me. The second bit discredited it. Communism and Atheism have absolutely no connection other than Stalin was Atheist. But Stalin didn't kill in the name of Atheism. Hitler was most definitely Roman Catholic. He said in Mien Kampf that he thought he was "doing the work of the almighty" by prosecuting jews and the rest. I would like a news article at least, showing Atheists assaulting Theists, before I believe that BS. Wow you're ignorant. Happy holidays...
@rampaginwalrus Just as ignorant as you then because you believe when someone calling themselves Christian kills someone in the name of Christianity you actually nod you head and say yes they did that. If one is a Christian you never hurt anyone.
I am obviously saying that a true Christian would never hurt a fly let alone another person.
Yes, I was aware that Hitler said he was a roman catholic but I read a fantastic article several months ago showing he was actually anti-christian.
@foxylord; Oh, the "I'm holier than thou" argument, been a while. Immediately discredited by actually reading the bible. A TRUE christian would stone, to death, anyone who worked on the sabbath. A true christian would sell their daughter to the person who raped her. A true christian would think that worshiping "false gods" is a worse crime than rape, or child abuse, or even murder. 2 Kings 2:23-24 is a great example of "christian values".
@rampaginwalrus Thank you for quoting from the old testament but if you had any understanding of Christianity, which you clearly do not, then you would know that we are told that the old testament was included for completeness because it was deemed important to include them.
As Christians we are directed to follow, and read the new testament, because that was meant to replace the old as a way to live our lives in peace.
@foxylord; Cherry picking? Are you suggesting that religion actually EVOLVES? That would mean it wasn't correct to begin with though! That means it will change in the future! That means that we are the ones deciding what is morally just, and what is fucked up. Not religion. You live in a society which has objective morality. Where people can question if something is inherently good or evil. We have the opportunity to speculate. The evolution of religion should be more than enough to disprove it.
@rampaginwalrus Yes it evolved when Jesus gave us an example to live by. That wass the whole point why He came and why He sacrificed Himself for us at a time when mankind needed an example. Christianity has always been correct from day one, but infallible humans chose to add books of the old testament that went against what Jesus taught. I don't see why that's such a difficult idea to grasp, but hey.
@foxylord; Infallible means unable to be wrong. The only thing that suggests Jesus even existed is The Bible. Which isn't exactly the most reliable source. It being dead wrong on almost every damned claim it makes. There are at least 30 popular religious figures that fit the description of Jesus. From Krishna or Odin to Ra. Every culture has a Jesus. From the virgin birth to the resurrection. What makes you so sure your religion is in the right when they have just as much evidence as you?
@foxylord; I've always wanted to ask that to a theist, but only now got around to it. Please give me as detailed and intricate response as you can. And be mature with this one. I really want to see your reasoning. My hypothesis is you don't know. It's just because that's what you were born into.
@rampaginwalrus I will answer your main question when I get back from work, but to answer one of your points. I was not born into my faith I chose it. My parents were not in the least religious nor interested in any particular faith. I actually got them into Christianity when they became interested in what i was doing. My father was much like you, an atheist, but one who found God, and converted to Christianity.
@foxylord; you were brought up in a mostly christian society. Were it was socially normal to be christian. Like mine. Except you never learned to question like I did. I have Asperger's Syndrome, so other people never effected me. All I cared about was what was true, and what was not. I never had the social leniency that NT's have. My views are black and white... until you get to some things I'd rather not get into. I feel I kind of missed the mark with this one.
@rampaginwalrus You are quite wrong in thinking that I have never questioned my religion. Of course I have. To think otherwise is silly.
We are all expected to read the bible and ask any questions we have.
As for cherry picking as you called it. If you actually knew about christianity then you would know that Jesus answered the OT and said he had brought us the NT. That's why as Christians we follow the NT.

Many of Hitlers cohorts said Hitler was anti christian, and much of what they said is officially accepted by historians as their own words.
@foxylord; Well lets just imagine he was. For just one comment, let's imagine he really was an "Anti-Christain". He represented himself as a Roman Catholic. He did his evil in the name of The Church. The Church backed him fully, and openly. It doesn't matter what his personal views were. His public views were Catholic.
@CheekyNeets They used to alternate between the RC's and us each year for each major celebration. The worst I heard that happened at the RC's was their priest being hospitalised but he refused to press charges and forgave them instead.

Many of our nations founders were atheist. Don't be blind to obvious facts.
Notice it doesn't say that this conspiracy against God has been going on for a while. The Founders quite deliberately decided to omit "God" from the most important foundational document of all - the Constitution. Ours is a secular nation. It's bad enough the political hacks who made the video don't appreciate that a secular foundation is precisely what allows religious faith to thrive. What's particularly disgusting is this attempt to rewrite history.

@zackrowe1 I'm not sure what Darwin has to do with anything, but this comment shows a profound lack of understanding of what Darwin's Theory of Evolution actually says. First of all, a Theory in science is an explanation of facts that has withstood all testing - not just some random wild guess. Secondly, every single lifeform is "half-evolved". We are all transitional forms - our children will be slightly different than us, and their children slightly different than them.
It always astonishes me that people can still believe in god after discovering the Big Bang Theory. We have already explained the creation of the universe without a god. Is there any reason to believe in a god?

@JesusWasStupid galaxies and seperate planets even i our solar system are spinning opposite ways, or the moon which doesnt spin at all, if one band, everything would be spinnin in one direction. study and find truth the one u cal stupid created all
Nice to know that we've grown beyond trying to make religion a part of our government, because we know that governments based on religion ALWAYS work.
I think we all talk pretty bravely on a faceless way to each other, but i also know that people believe like fools, no matter how many times something is mixed or twisted.
truthfully i'm not with anything that tells me how i live and what i do is wrong.
Religion is nice, it may bring people together... but it shows how sad people are that they believe in something just for a reward... and that reward is another life... How selfish.
lol what is so selfish about trying to reach others into recieving that other life? swing and a misssssssssss..........lets look at the webster definition of selfishness is what? hmmm thought so one track minded being one of them
Our nation, meaning people, sadly are not Christian, in totality. Our nation's government was and still is Christian, because that previously documented fact has not been rescinded, as can readily and objectively seen here. If a concept is encoded or otherwise established by legal decree, it cannot be just ignored or circumvented. IT MUST BE ASSAILED and RESCINDED as a legal and binding act. Can you imagine the "TEA PARTY" if THAT happened? Thank you Mr. Forbes!
This bothers me...If GOD is how our country was brought up...then GOD should be noticed in our history...GOD IS REAL and very much prat of our wonderful country...With out GOD our country would be nothing!
When people use inital intention it's disaponting beacause many of our founding fathers beleived in arisicatic, racist, and sexist ideas. Though I do agree that history shouldn't be sensored I do not support allowing religion to influence government in the same sense and for the reason that i don't want the government to influence, restrict, or ban my religion. Even though such right wing christians might disagree with such of my rights as they have for almost 2 thousand years.
Sorry man, the founders left England for a variety of reason, 1 being that there was a national church, which was not biblical by any means. Most of our founding fathers were strong Christian men, we were founded on Christian principals and God blessed this nation for centuries because of it. We have ONLY had the freedoms we've had because we are a Christian nation and believe in free will. Now the left wants to declare war on the One that blessed us.
Their is no "War on God" their is a war against the fanatical Christian Right, trying to force their version of the truth upon the world.. It's a war against the propaganda of hate being spread by Conservative's. God doesn't need stupid monuments to exist in our world.. get over it.
As far as I know this is not about a memorial TO God but about the faith of those who are being memorialized. Why make these changes if the goal was not to remove the refrences to God in OUR country's history. This is not about hate or fanatics nor christianity really. This is about changing our history.Like it or not, religious people have played a prominant roll in our Nation's history. If your are going to display a founding document then do it without omitting stuff just because it is religious.
It's odd to see Christians act so persecuted in the comments on this video; when the reality is that they make up the overwhelming religious majority within the country. We use Christian terminology in nearly every facet of daily life, including government.
What bothers me is that Christians feel persecuted when God, Jesus, or other aspects of scripture aren't utilized in our government. It's not a "War on God." A lack of constant attention is not an attack on the majority faith.
It'll be interesting to see how many people & "leaders" who are distancing themselves from God now, will call out to God as they gasp their final breaths & wonder why God doesn't answer.
WORSHIP GOD EVERYDAY! You don't like it....LEAVE this place. God is and God will forever be the ONLY one that is worshiped and adored. We shall have NO other Gods before him. Do NOT be ashamed to proclaim him. Why should we stop mentioning GOD because some people are offended. Hell...I AM offended that you DON'T want to mention YOUR creator....are you ashamed????
Well I don't like it, so should I leave? NO. I have the right to choose what or who I worship or don't worship in this country. If anybody should leave, it should be people like you who apparently do not even care to respect our constitutional rights. I ashamed of people like you who are creating a bad rap for people who choose to believe in a creator.
This "seperation" is a myth. There was to be no national church established, but the founders recognized that God established this nation. George Washington, the father of this nation, said "Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, religion and morality are indispensable supports. In vain would that man claim the tribute of patriotism who should labor to subvert these great pillars of human happiness..". Doesn't sound very secular to me.
The national so-called church was the one the so-called founders of usa belonged to- Does' any american know the history of America. That would help! America was found by Columbus and dedicated to The King of Spain and The Holy Catholic Church. Until the seperated brothers return to The Church the usa will continue to wallow in its own filth. The muslims were right to call it The Great Satan.and the UK the little satan. The murderous , lying and fornicating deeds of the leaders have proven it
Columbus never saw North America. Therefore, how could he have found it? You sir are ignorant of this most basic fact. Columbus claimed Hispaniola, an island in the Caribbean. If you want to rail at Americans for not knowing our history, get it right yourself. The great satan is Allah, Not a mere country or nation. Jehovah is God and Allah is a usurper, lying to mankind as usual. Allahu Akbar means, "Allah is greatER". Who did Mohammad have a beef with? Christians and Jews. Allah encourages lies
Religion and gods have been used over the centuries to enmasse power. God is fictive, and used to deny one's own responsibilty in life and in lording power over one's competitors.
I think this video helps explain why our nation is sinking. We are calling bad things good, and good things bad. for example: there is no problem if you talk about meditation, Yoga, or any other oriental religion, but you can't say "Jesus" or offer a prayer. It could cost you your job. In our effors to give freedom to the people, we are actually forbiding our cristian faith from our schools. That's not freedom either. No wounder our our youth are down falling in moral values and love.
Mansour, You need to take yourself and your foul mouth back to school. Study the Constitution and the Founding Father's words. You will find that; this nation is founded as a sectarian-free state. What that means to you is in 'God We Trust.' You are free to worship at any alter... even the alter of secular humanism. Please read the 'Declaration of Independence'the Preamble to the Constitution and know this is 'One Nation Under God.' I fault your parents for not teaching you in the first place.
I ran out of space to cont. my thought below. Anyway, we are seeing less tolerance toward God in our public lives. I believe a time is coming when the church in America will be called into account by God for our lack of doing what we are commissioned to do - love God, love our neighbor, and care for those in need. Many do these things, don't get me wrong, and I myself am only beginning to realize my own lacking in this area. I think if we want people to accept God, we need to first accept them.
Unfortunately, a lot of the removal of God from public forum has been in knee-jerk response to messages the church has given the public. For instance, many people in the gay community have been made to believe (not by all church communities, mind you) that if they do not cease to be gay they will go to Hell. Even if they are devoted Christians themselves. Also, we have freedom of religion but continually convey to non-Christians their God is not God at all. No wonder we are seeing less tolerance
Thanks Senator. Yet, I KNOW things are about to change. I now more fully understand why I was shown some things. We, very soon, won't had anyplace to go but GOD!
Thanks Rep. DeMint for letting us know about this very important issue. People of our nation and around the world deserve to know the truth about our history - not a revised history from a secular point of view.
why, whats wrong with other people believing in god? having god as part of ouy countries history isn't doing any harm to those who dont believe in god because they can just choose to ignore it, but taking it out of our countires history is doing harm to those that do. we have a freedom of religion, we aren't orcing athiests to believe in god, but they arent letting us practice our beliefs and learn about how god helped create our country. we should be able to learn about god if we want to.
then why a legislative branch of the government do so?? Yes if you want to learn about god then go to your public library not a federal building!! i didnt say shut down all churches, mosques! you want to pray go ahead,, but dont force other to believe in your views,, thats why The United States Of America was founded and thats were it should stands,,,,believe me where i live you see how religion is bad for society if its promoted by the government.
no i just dont give a fuck,, the State X Religion is pure bull,, what happening now is that,, the constitution clearly says the state shall not take a religion and promote it,, by writing in "an invisible being flying over our heads" we trust in congress is a pure crossing the line,, what about the little guy who says will i dont believe in god and the constitution says my country should not be to,,
Not only does the Constitution--in the same ammendment--say "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion,"
It also says "or prohibiting the free exercise thereof" Building a monument depicting history as it is, religion clearly included in that, is not making any law. To say on a statue for example "We hold these truths to be self evident that all men are EVOLVED equally" instead of "created equal"
Did the "god" in scripted "in god we trust" on the congress floor? Because if he did then thats changing history, because its denying an event!! if he did then I won't mind it,, but sadly enough "in god we trust" is not a historic event, there for it can be altered,, all the time national anthems,, mottos,, flags,, changes and with this case it the right thing to do is to respect freedom of believe,, if I were a Hindu I will be insulted because I believe in more than one god..
God's believers inscripted it. In America, the vast majority of people believe in God--some 91 to 92%. It's woven into our culture. To deny that for the sake of the non-believer would be abandoning God. As Christians we are called to witness to others. It's up to others to accept or deny.
Here, I wouldn't chop off someone/s head for trying to convert me. Elswhere, they would chop off mine for the same.
THat got posted in the wrong place. I dont agree with that comment before my last post. But I do know that in the end every knee will bow and every tounge will confess that Jesus is Lord (phil. 2:9-11) I am glad I am on his side... Sovreign 4 ever made me remeber that one... Prasie the Lord!
And for the last time, atheists don't hate god. We can't hate what isn't there. America is a free nation. We have Muslims, and Buddhists, and Jews, not just christians. So shut your whiny ass, and keep it to yourself.

Nice to know that we've grown beyond trying to make religion a part of our government, because we know that governments based on religion ALWAYS work.

I think it's great, It's a country that was made by people who wanted to free it from religion or to be able to practice any religion.
censorship is bad, but for an imaginary character i don't think it's so bad.
Screw god, screw the idiots who believe in him.
P.S. you wanna talk about censoring, let's talk about the templar crusades.

leviano2004 2 years ago
I think we all talk pretty bravely on a faceless way to each other, but i also know that people believe like fools, no matter how many times something is mixed or twisted.
truthfully i'm not with anything that tells me how i live and what i do is wrong.
Religion is nice, it may bring people together... but it shows how sad people are that they believe in something just for a reward... and that reward is another life... How selfish.
Emceetem 2 years ago
lol what is so selfish about trying to reach others into recieving that other life? swing and a misssssssssss..........lets look at the webster definition of selfishness is what? hmmm thought so one track minded being one of them

Forbes!
jymstone3 2 years ago
This bothers me...If GOD is how our country was brought up...then GOD should be noticed in our history...GOD IS REAL and very much prat of our wonderful country...With out GOD our country would be nothing!
djisfat11 2 years ago

God doesn't need stupid monuments to exist in our world.. get over it.
pavilionking06 2 years ago

Hell...I AM offended that you DON'T want to mention YOUR creator....are you ashamed????
angelarnold2003 3 years ago
Well I don't like it, so should I leave? NO. I have the right to choose what or who I worship or don't worship in this country. If anybody should leave, it should be people like you who apparently do not even care to respect our constitutional rights. I ashamed of people like you who are creating a bad rap for people who choose to believe in a creator.

well there is supposed to be separation between church and state.
It's ok if you worship a space alien (aka- the heavenly god). But please don't say your fictional book (bible) should tell me how to live life.
Also other people can choose to believe in different spooky creatures (islam, jewish, etc). And they should be able to do the same.
PLZ explain dinosaurs, or how the Arc fit the millions of creatures on it, and buddy put them all back through the massive world.
Godless and loving it!!!

The murderous , lying and fornicating deeds of the leaders have proven it
silvestromedia 2 years ago

DRTORRESJ 3 years ago

I think if we want people to accept God, we need to first accept them.
theresaseeber 3 years ago
Unfortunately, a lot of the removal of God from public forum has been in knee-jerk response to messages the church has given the public. For instance, many people in the gay community have been made to believe (not by all church communities, mind you) that if they do not cease to be gay they will go to Hell. Even if they are devoted Christians themselves. Also, we have freedom of religion but continually convey to non-Christians their God is not God at all. No wonder we are seeing less tolerance

why, whats wrong with other people believing in god? having god as part of ouy countries history isn't doing any harm to those who dont believe in god because they can just choose to ignore it, but taking it out of our countires history is doing harm to those that do. we have a freedom of religion, we aren't orcing athiests to believe in god, but they arent letting us practice our beliefs and learn about how god helped create our country. we should be able to learn about god if we want to.
ctrlaltdestroy000 3 years ago 4
then why a legislative branch of the government do so?? Yes if you want to learn about god then go to your public library not a federal building!! i didnt say shut down all churches, mosques! you want to pray go ahead,, but dont force other to believe in your views,, thats why The United States Of America was founded and thats were it should stands,,,,believe me where i live you see how religion is bad for society if its promoted by the government.

no i just dont give a fuck,, the State X Religion is pure bull,, what happening now is that,, the constitution clearly says the state shall not take a religion and promote it,, by writing in "an invisible being flying over our heads" we trust in congress is a pure crossing the line,, what about the little guy who says will i dont believe in god and the constitution says my country should not be to,,
MansourViPeninsula 3 years ago
Not only does the Constitution--in the same ammendment--say "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion,"
It also says "or prohibiting the free exercise thereof" Building a monument depicting history as it is, religion clearly included in that, is not making any law. To say on a statue for example "We hold these truths to be self evident that all men are EVOLVED equally" instead of "created equal"
erases US history AND the country, I think.
SavageShootsSweet 3 years ago
Did the "god" in scripted "in god we trust" on the congress floor? Because if he did then thats changing history, because its denying an event!! if he did then I won't mind it,, but sadly enough "in god we trust" is not a historic event, there for it can be altered,, all the time national anthems,, mottos,, flags,, changes and with this case it the right thing to do is to respect freedom of believe,, if I were a Hindu I will be insulted because I believe in more than one god..
MansourViPeninsula 3 years ago
God wouldn't inscribe In "God We Trust"
God would inscribe, perhaps, "I am that I am"
God's believers inscripted it. In America, the vast majority of people believe in God--some 91 to 92%. It's woven into our culture. To deny that for the sake of the non-believer would be abandoning God. As Christians we are called to witness to others. It's up to others to accept or deny.
Here, I wouldn't chop off someone/s head for trying to convert me. Elswhere, they would chop off mine for the same.
