Wow, i loved this joint as a green 14 year old kid! Beatles version could not compare to the energy this song gives out...lyrics are lyrics but Lakeside just added something extra for the soul on this track...beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!
It seems that everything has to be a competition nowadays. This is a Beatles song, loved by millions. Lakeside interpreted the song as a soulful ballad, and it sounds great. It doesn't have to be better or worse, and both can be great. If you prefer one to the other, fine. As long as you realize that it's not against the law to like two things at once.
wow! i had forgot this song.but the same feeling came right back as when i first heard it.if you was at a dance ,you were just happy when someone asked you t o dance,.thats when you forgot about all that good girl mess.you just wanted to bump and grind all night.THANKS for POSTING. took me back!!!!!!!!!!!
This is the difference from a soul singers where people feel the music than a group like the Beatles coming from a music class where the whole class sing the words with no feeling. Not trying to hate, but it's the truth
I consider this their tribute to The Beatles and John Lennon since this came out less than 6 months after Lennon died. Lakeside completely transformed the song and like The Beatles, it's a masterpiece. You can't compare the two. I love them both.
The video Is on iTunes y'all.. It's the one with Otis in it.. Check it out.. And check the video I need you, they sung the hell out of the song.. It's all on iTunes
You have to know what he's feeling when you listen to this song. The Beatles are ever an icon. And Lakeside is a group in their own time which adds SOUL .
Yeah I know the Beatles did this song. I meant their are 2 versions of this song by Lakeside and the 1st version with Otis Stokes where Mark Woods says Sing It With Me Otis is so much better.
OOOOOOOOOOOOH! my jam. 1981 i had my second child when this song was out. Now she is almost 28 and the song still move me. Sorry my baby making days are over. But I can sill slow dance to this song with her father.
This is the original version with OTIS. Why did Otis leave the group and why did they make a newer version with a fake wannabe Otis that is just not as good as this original? I bet one of you guys has the answer for me.
This is definetly not the original. That is Mark Woods singing the lead, but that sure ain't Otis Stokes singing, cause who ever that cat is sounds horrible, Otis Stokes is a bad boy. Now why they would remake it, is definetly odd to me. Also, why do they have a picture of the Ohio Players at around the 1:02 mark. Whoever put this up must not know, thats the Ohio Players picture & not Lakeside.
Now if only the music industry could get back to making real r&b songs like this. While so song today are good they just don't have the "soul" of groups like Lakeside. Thanks the post
One of my favorite groups of ALL times. They turn a simple action of holding hands into something so sexually beautiful, it is unbeliveable. Better than the "bump and grind" of today, by far!
I agree with all of you. I actually hated this song by the Beatles, but as an R&B cut (and actually, more like a Blues song) by Lakeside, it is beautiful and very well done.
I heard the Beatles and I've heard Lakeside. Lakeside turned this song into just about the most beautiful song on earth. They added soul to the lyrics and I thank them for it.
