I have worked with many top trainers and the horse was NEVER allowed to turn into the handler. I agree with the other poster ...spurs are a bad idea, when lunging. She pulls the horse off balance, repeatedly. It all seems very confusing to me and I have seen horses luinged hundreds of times...so imagine how this horse feels.
great video but when you are longing and the horse stops turns to you pens his ears and charges you to kill you it will surely get your attention as it did me.
while I agree with the previous comment about the lounge line, I don't think it can be especially dangerous as long as you are experienced. You can see the improvement in this horse in just these 4 minutes.
Also, I'm only 14, but a friend and I are looking for colleges that have equestrian classes in california, and I am definately checking out this college's website!
the movement of the person is much too hectic for such an unexperienced horse. The longe should be coiled in the hand. And wearing spurs while longing is extremely dangerous espacially when the rope is dragged along over the ground...
Be aware of where your body position is in, in relation to the horse. Use your energy to push the horse from the hip. Practice backing up and moving forward, away from and to the horse. Practice moving from the hip up toward the front of the horse and you will see how you can stop or turn the horse by moving forward toward the shoulder. You will quickly learn where to move to get the required results. It works 99% of the time with most horses. Good Luck!
