  • Es un gorpo pelotudo!!!!!

  • Ikemiyagi Sensei's student (in some of the footage above) is opening a dojo in Roswell, New Mexico later this year. If you live close enough, you should visit. Well worth the trip.

  • What a bastard asian, lol

  • mhmm...don't want to be a jerk but the big guy has a black belt?c'mon...it seems like they are free giveaway these days.

  • @GIwillo Jerk, being the operative word here. Don't comment about someone you have NO knowledge of. Wade more than earned his belt (not that a piece of cloth around his waist ever meant anything to him in the first place). The type of training he has gone through, most would-be martial artists would cringe away from. He's taken his lumps time and time again, and kept coming back for more. His knowledge, skills and HEART are unmatched, when compared to the average, typical Westerner...

  • @Uminchuu ...or Easterner, for that matter. People who are hung up on the superficial and childish notions that you have to 'look a certain way' in order to be a 'true martial artist' , are the ones who should not be taken seriously. If you want to be taken seriously, then I suggest you give some serious thought to your words and actions before you follow through with them...or you can continue your way of doing things and keep inserting the proverbial foot in mouth. Good luck with that.

  • @Uminchuu okay.but you should not judge about (typical) western people either.as you said : don't judge people you have no knowledge of. :P

don't take youtube and your karate too seriously dude...

  • @GIwillo For the record, I don't take youtube that seriously. I mainly watch it for entertainment value. But when someone such as yourself insults a friend of mine, I tend to get a knee jerk reaction, even though the best thing to do is just ignore such people as yourself. Sorry, my problem. Should have just ignored you. Your not worth anymore of my time. You can now go back to playing your video games. By the way, for the record, I'm a 'westerner' so I can 'judge' rudeness if I wish.

  • @Uminchuu wow...you are pretty hostile.i think in the end your message is much more insulting than my comment about the guy in the video, which was intended to criticize his teacher and not him.nice to see how the tide has turned.

  • @GIwillo ...His teacher is MY teacher too. Done with wasting time on you.

  • @Uminchuu well...have a nice time.no need to insult each other here.

    regards

  • dude, you really need to work on your cardio. if you aspire to be a great martial artist, endurance is everything. Its no good being able to throw mega powerfull punches if your exausted afterwards.

  • Sensei - Let's beat on the funny american with frosted flake hair!

  • this is stupid kicking people in the legs?!!!! that could break someones knee and especially doing it on a white belt!!!! u should be training like the us karate team does there are better ways of training than hitting urself

  • big fat westerner being battered about while sensei laughs at him hmmmmm ! I've training in Okinawa goju ryu of 15 years and trained in Okinawa a number of times and I like to train hard with my own students in my own dojo but this is not good teaching! this shows no humility to me !

  • wow that guys blocks would kill your arms

  • most impressive body punch i've ever fucking seen

  • the traditional training i like whatever it is kung fu or karate i like to train in many forms of martial arts

  • @tonytheabc: thank you for your comment. Yes, it hurts. And, yes I think it's a good thing and really helps one to learn the essence. I prefer the training this way, and I respect all the other ways. It sounds like you come from a very solid background. Wish you all the best.

  • sensi; Oooouse my name is sensi R George i realy love your you treaningis there a way i could trean or to meet you email is georgerivera2426@yahoo.com

  • THAT is hard training.. =O

it hurts only watching it =[

  • BUEN MAESTRO

  • I like this video. My sensei was Ki Whang Kim and he trained in Japan. This is how we had trained under him. Too many TKD schools use pads and padded floors. Im use to the hard wood floors.

    GREAT TRAINING!!!

  • @Kinghercules Nice to hear someone else use the hard wooden floors xD

Only that I train Karate, but anyway:P

    Hate those padded floors...

  • 0:29 is he kicking with shin, instep or fingers ??????

  • Mostly with the shin. Sometimes with the tip of the toe (but rarely on any student). With the instep only when the kick is intended to be very fast and affect the opponent with a "sting" instead of a "crush." Great Question.

  • What's the sensei's name? Is he a disciple of Morio Higaonna?

  • This is Ikemiyagi Sensei of the Meibukan Lineage: his teacher was Yagi Dai Sensei, head of the Meibukan. Higaonna Sensei is from his own linage. Both are tremendous karateka.

  • @ikarus191 It will be interesting to see your speed and power when you post your video for us.

  • This is nice training. One thing though. what are the strengths of the 5 main styles of karate you know. Goju Ryu, Shotokan, Shito Ryu, etc.

  • as anyone who doesn´t like karate actually ......

i have to say that i am impressed good training

and i saw many similarities with some south chinese kung fu styles .........very interesting

  • you need to stop eating hamburgers!!!! motto yasai tabenasai!!!

  • My dream is going to japan and practice real karate, i heard is really heavy just like this video, senseis seems very strict.

  • Strict, Yes, also Kind and Caring to no end. He gives each student what is appropriate for the individual & what he is asked to give...Karate is a journey to the same place for all, and we all take different routes to arrive there. The journey should foster (I believe) Humility, Kindness, Patience, & Dilligence. It should culminate with a pure Awareness of the importance of being good to others, to protect the weak, defend the innocent, & cherrish love. Karate: to find your way and love it.

  • what you're saying is a way of life, thanks.

  • The hit to solar plexus was quite hard, even without nukite, no wonder this big guy went down. what would the sensei himself like if he would be punched likewise. if u a that tough, u should also take it back too.

  • I like this better than UFC... for sure.

  • karate is awesome training

  • whooooo I would love to see 1:35 in actual combat. That'd be so badass.

  • if youre already doing tkd and bjj, doing goju aswell might be confusing, the blocks and basics in goju are somewhat different than tkd, how long have you been doing tkd?

  • GoJu $ life man

  • i do this style...the training is grueling.......

  • Any traditional style should have what you need for self protection and strong basic skills; a lot depends on you: likes, dislikes, tendencies. For competition fighting, I'd say that Kyokushin might be the better choice: they are Very Tough! Training sessions are super intense, and they focus on certain aspects that would likely make you more ready for brutal matches in the ring. Go and check out both, see which you like better, which instructor too. Then you'll know.

  • Goju ryu. Absolutely!

  • I study goju ryu 4 times a week, and sparring every Thursday. It's grueling.

  • This is a great video. I take Kyokushin, but have much respect for Goju.

  • Comment removed

  • If you watch the entire video, it seems that is the way they ALL train there. I understand that a white belt is not conditioned for that type of contact, but it really didn't look like he put everything into it. His hips didn't twist. And they have to learn to take it some time.

  • Humility is a sure path to enlightenment—food for thought...

  • I always wanted to know what were the differences between Goju-Ryu, Kyokushin, Wado Ryu, Shotokan, and Wado-ryu Karate.

  • This is the best goju ryu video on You Tube.

  • 20 years ago I studied Karate do Goju Ryu, REAL martial arts is a lot more than breaking wood with your head and hands, is a philosophy, still today I practice what I learned 20 years ago

  • im not a Violante person by nature but im glad im learning this style. funny thing about it tho, it has a weird type of energy to it that you can really get in to; i think thats what makes it so enjoyable.

  • maceioninjutsu i figured u were american because of your attitude, and sorry to say but with an attitude like that you dont deserve to be doin any kind of martial arts. wheres your humility, discipline. and your right you are an asshole but at least your honest, im not one of those people that pretend to know everything so don't put me in the same category

  • I like to see him do that to us ninjutsu guys

  • ninjutsu is overrated it's meant to be the best but i would like to c you throw a well trained sensei to the ground without tripping thats the power behind goju ryu rooted to the ground

  • Thanx for the complement about us ninjutsu GUY BEING THE BEST! (style) EVEN DO IT'S NOT THE STYLE ITS THE PERSON... BUT No problem tell your sensei to come to chicago and I will be his HUCKLE-BERRY.

  • @slapnut892 whats all this bikering about, maybe you can learn something from ninjutsu or vice versa.

  • @singhakabuttar dont get me wrong im not trying to throw stones in glass houses i was just trying to point out that the narrow mindedness of some people is astonishing. just read his comments, he singles ninjutsu out as being the best in all aspects what a joke.

  • LOL!!! Yeah...

I'd love to see those "ninjutsu guys" handle this.

  • I do Kyokushin, and this does not look like the Goju that I have seen in the past, especially in regards to the sparring and low roundkicks. The kansetsu geri at 1:36 is great though. Were not allowed to do that in sparring.

  • It looks like he kicks the back of the knee rather in the joint. It still look looks dangerious and I know that had to hurt.

  • Is Goju Ryu sparring full contact?

  • No simple answer to your question. The thing you will find is that each dojo builds a training system from a core philosophy, some use pads and spar very, very hard, and at a different place in thinking, there are dojo that have almost no actual "contact" in the training at all. I hear people talk of "full contact, no pads" training, but I've never seen that without either severe injuries, or very weak exchanges that are just called "full contact..."

  • And the injuries are very severe.

  • Nice Goju training

wise techniques and interesting conditioning. 5 stars!

  • I did both Goju Ryu Karate and Taekwondo for many years and liked them both. Both styles have their advantages, unique techniques and own philosophy. They both complement each other quiet well since Goju Ryu focuses more on breathing, open and closed hands techniques and Taekwondo on fast and dynamic kicks. Just depends on what you need. Both styles have alot to offer

  • im brown belt of goju ryu, i think its a very good trainig this one, but a little hard

  • hahah

  • very nice kansetsu geri at 1.36

  • this is karate

  • <3 i love u t

  • interesting!

  • real karate not that water down shit that is tought in those mcdojo's here in the u.s

  • @phillyforever haha im in the US and my sens i was taough by these guys i do traditional karate like you see here

  • again i commented you guys 5 months ago awesome vid

  • I make this style from Venezuelan because I´m from there. If someone Know speak in spanish, please answer me. My teacher his name is Shihan Shunji Sudo Tanaka. Thank you!

  • Hi everybody! I do goju ryu style too. The video is very good. I like this technic based on the strong hard training. Is one of the best. Congratulations all guys into the video. Keep training... Bye!

  • yes balance is the most important part to stregthen up first

  • omg u guys rock

  • this sensei is great

  • I`ve practiced Goju-ryu,it was the first style of karate hat I practiced , and it sucked because that I moved to kyokushin , but this is really great ,I`ve changed my idea of goju ryu.

  • What kind of goju did you practice? Okinawan Goju, japanese goju or american goju? It depends also by the master, the training, etc etc.

  • good video, although, i can't say the same for your hair... lol

  • This is a excellect video, I like your intense style of training..... av it! I would love to train with you guys, as this is how we train as well! nice one!

  • Also, to address all you naysayers who won't be showing up, you're all fucking retarded. I hope someday you open your mouth in person and get the chance to see what it feels like to be hit by someone who can break a Makiwara with a single punch, or a Femur and god knows what else with a single round kick (both CK). Maybe one or the other will jar loose some of those ridiculous MMA crap notions you have rolling around in your skulls, Jake Tyler wanna bes. Open your minds and shut your faces.

  • I love watching this video, there's so much excellent stuff in it. I'm thoroughly amazed at the degree of ignorance reflected in some of the comments, as always. CK is one of my best friends, and I believe he's going to hold a seminar in the states in the coming months, to address (respectfully) any training ideas you all may have. I can't wait to see, and train with, those that at least muster up the gumption to take a break from talking smack long enough to show up. It's gonna be awesome.

  • that guy who youare calling chubby is what embodies the spirit of karate, you can never know what it takes to move a large body around to do karate, 3 times harder for me or him than for many of you.

  • i love how its very traditional....it's the old style the hard style and i love it. i hate how people mordernize karate.. there is nothing to modernize about karate it is a perfect art

  • To all you critics and armchair quarterbacks:

Where are your video's? Where do you train? What are your accomplishments? You guys talk a lot of shit, however I guarantee you are ALL gay. I have trained with the "chubby" guy and let me assure you he will whup your ass and feed you your balls. I have trained all over the world, with the best Gung Fu, Karate, Silat, Muay Thai and MMA fighters out there and that little Oki dojo has some of the best martial arts there is. You wanna be's sicken me.

  • ShihequanBRO--Be in touch. I'm looking forward to seeing you. I just read 15 pages of 146 comments and there are some people on here who really can recognize what this is. As for the rest: You are right...I could line them up, simply based on their ignorant comments, as to just how gay they are, how little they know and the order I'd like to knock the living shit out of them. Talk soon Bro.

  • I would like to follow up, I cerainly did not intend on slamming this school it seems good. And I did not mean to sound quite so harsh about the American, he just needs alot more training, and does not appear to have 10 years of training. Clearly the head Okinawan Sensei is highly skilled. But the editor could have chosen some better clips.

  • If you think this is hard, watch someone with skill training traditional Goju, not some tubby Air Force hair dyed dude, with poor stances and even poorer Sanchin. I agree with Pecherin72 real Goju is not for the weak or timid. AND at OUR DOJO it is NOT OPTIONAL. You do NOT obtain Shodan rank without having years of Sanchin with full strikes. And if you fall over like tubby did and chuckle about it you will most certainly NOT make Shodan......

  • Oh well I guess we are alone in our tradition to a hard style of training. Maybe that's why the TKD school down the road has 200 students and we only have 20. But if you are doing martial arts for the money (and making a good living) do us all a favor and QUIT!!!!

  • Oh well I guess we are alone in our tradition to a hard style of training. Maybe that's why the TKD school down the road has 200 students and we only have 20. But if you are doing martial arts for the money (and making a good living) do us all a favor and QUIT!!!!

  • Why can't you teach traditionally and have more than 20 students? My Goju Sensei has over 500 worldwide and travels a lot to visit his many students. I know several traditional teachers that have over 250 students in a single dojo. So the next question is; are you really teaching? Who said that u can't make money and teach traditionally. They did it on Oki and are doing it now!

  • I cannot speak for your teacher (since I do not know you), but the vast majority of sensei here (in Okinawa) do NOT teach karate for a living. They teach, after working their regular jobs. Karate for me (and most traditionalsts) is a way of life, not a way to make a living. Not trying to put you down, but your comment is a bit lacking in facts when it comes to the way things are here.

  • Yes, I've been to many many traditional dojos where there are many students, but I've also been to so many dojos with 5 students or 10 students, when the next door TKD has 100 students.

  • what is the purpose of your way of practicing shime? (full strikes)

  • But the training is good.

  • You can't match you sensei's speed because you are too big. And lose the hair dye.

  • i know that some styles of martial arts practice body hardening, but this just seems excessive. i mean, the teacher is beating the crap out of his students. and there seems to be no real point to it.

is all goju karate like this?

  • you want your teacher to touch you like a feather and when someone attacks you on the street what will you do ? Do you think he will touch like a feather too ? His methods seem ok to me if you are a mommy's boy go play Super Mario or something don't train martial arts please ...

  • no it isnt. i train goju ryu. and that is some bullshit!! (not the sport the video)

  • No, it is like this only with senior students.

  • No, not all Goju, only real Okinawan Goju does it this way, and only with the more senior Dan grades. It is also on a volunteer basis. The idea is to challenge yourself. If you're not up for it, take a break.

  • When you train to fight, when you want to finish the fight in 3 or 4 seconds, and your opponent wants the same, well, you have to be ready. All combat systems, civilian and militaries, do the same.

  • is good deam!!

  • I've never seen Goju with that level of contact. I LIKE!

  • Sanchin Kata is very unhealthy for obese people¡ Not kidding¡

Sanchin, make an expiratory effort by an extended sound against constricted vocal cords, or with a cough against a closed glottis and go through a form of dynamic tension at various technical points within the Three-Battle Three Upright or Chien tension form. (More next)

  • As air cannot escape, or is restricted, intrathoracic pressure can rise to a point where systolic and diastolic pressure can rise beyond normal levels anticipated in exercises that do not advocate the holding or restraining of the breath.(More Next)

  • It is possible for intrathoracic pressure to rise to such a level that causes the vena cava returning blood to the heart to collapse—hardly the kind of exercise to be engaging in if you are overweight.

  • Well wow and damn who would have though?

  • How does he stay so fucking fat doing all that exercise?

  • Eats a LOT of food

  • gorillawhite: NMCK69 IS a heavy here. But he is like me, he goes up and down some due to injuries, and seasonal eating habits. But let me assure you, since you are not "in the loop" about this man and what he does: When he is heavy or when he is not: I'd just soon kick a marble post than kick him. Are you looking for slightly built "boys" on here or good Karate?

  • a few friends hage asked me the following question: If martial arts is about conditioning why is it that is some cases, those who study for years are overweight? Nothing against any one, nor am I questioning skill. How do you work out so hard and not look like it? Great video thats Goju baby!

  • ARE the arts "about conditioning?" And, if so...what kind of "conditioning?" Each person has his or her own reason for training, and each gets individual results in kind. No question, the better the physical condition, the better the performance. And, when we watch videos of others, we tend to put them in our own paradigms, not knowing anything really specific or accurate about the individual's circumstances: the WHY of a person's condition is often more crucial than the why not different.

  • Hello QUINTEROS1963. My friend NMCK69 won the New Mexico Teen Bodybuilding Championships both big (for a teen and ripped.) When I work out with him, in whatever his current "condition" at the time, he is still hard as nails. He trained very hard in Okinawa for a long time. I will post some video of his time in Okinawa soon. I'm certain that neither me nor Wade will win any marathons anytime soon, but this fellow is solid. Trust me. Strong as hell, and technically "conditioned" for the purpose.M

  • I get you. I've experinenced it first hand. Muscle and looking athletic doesn't mean so much. Its a matter of being "conditioned" for the purpose. Thanks for the comment.

  • Comment removed

  • One look at NMCK69 in this video some years ago and I thought I don't wanna take him lightly. Sometimes skill in karate (or any martial art) is in the ability to observe and understand what you see. Gorillawhite obviously hasn't the skill.

  • Sometimes it's nice to be carrying a .38 caliber snub nose revolver. (Nice small and compact holes it does make), Then there are times that you want to carrying the .50 cal SAW machine gun for the huge holes and firepower it makes. Different weapons for different tactics. A little bit of listening to the tactics that were discussed rather than flapping the lips, you might have discovered the aforementioned.

  • and if u look at 1.25 about the balance, what he is sayign abotu balance i totally agree with.

But look at the stance the guy has after the punch. hes leant forward slightly and his arm is completely straight and stiff, one of the first things i wos taught was to be soft, and relax after the punch. Leave the power inside the person, and bring the punch back towards you for more powerful penetration.

  • When i took 3 years of go ju ryu karate the training was'nt this instense, i mean it seems to be that american karate is watered down to be made acceptable to mainstearm america cause from my own experience is that american karate is just a bunch of the sensei who just ego trips or just alot of people whining over belt rank, know i don't know how karate really is in japan but from what i have seen in clip the style of go ju ryu is hardcore and practical, so as for american karate is a scam.

  • Hi, Aaronk0813. I appreciate your comment and don't disagree, but I also feel that "each to his own..." is very important in karate/martial arts. I know of "American Karate" folks who are every bit as intense as this dojo, but they are rare: most people don't WANT this level; U.S. folks love lawsuits; many in the U.S. have never seen the real deal. "IT" is out there if you look.

  • Isn't that the same in every country? I've never been to a real Okinawan Karate school with more than a handful of students, and I've been to many over the last 20+ years. I don't think real, unwatered down martial arts was designed for the general populace.

  • the sensei is very fast with his front kicks

  • I believe that "drunkenstate" was speaking about the dojo or system "patches" that most dojo wear on the do-gi to signify a particular karate / martial arts group to which they belong. Some do some don't...for me it's about the "pudding" and NOT the box it comes in...

  • NMCK69, perfect comment.

about the pudding not the box.

Much similar to saying that good karate doesnt look good. No fancy stuff, my dojo dont worry about badges. Its the karate that counts.

Not what it looks like to others

  • i did goju ryo karate for 6 years, i got high enough to realize that none of the people in this video are wearing their badges, ...

  • Some dojo wear patches (badges), some don't. Seems to me that the important things are the training and the people, not the clothing...

  • lol dude, taking this a bit too seriously .. its just a video?

  • I'm with you. but I read some comment about this pratictioneers and about their stupidity, and I don't agreed. They are working on conditioning and they should have the same respect of other guys of other styles muay thai or kyokushin for exapmple.

  • I know this group of martial artists, all of them well in fact, and I can assure you that none are stupid, nor are any of them disrespectful of other systems or others' ways...the comments about these people are painfully false.

  • Infact with my comment I wanted protect their training against others that talks about this kind of training like stupid training.I mean NMCK,that i read too many times bad comments about karate or chinese styles, and always good comments about Thay boxe for example.why if a thayboxer kick a tree is a macho while if a karateka do the same is stupid?

  • My mistake. You have my apologies for my misunderstanding of your posts. Thank you for clearing that up for me. I will do better NOT to misread your posts in the future.

  • And why if this training is about Thai Boxers they'r tough and instead if pratictioneers are Karate Guys they'r assholes...Tipical reaction of TV handjobbers.contact training is good for pratictioneers that wanna that, not for everybody, but it's the only way to develop conditioning.

  • Do I understand you correctly? You believe that this "traning is about Thai Boxers"?? How so? And, that "Karate Guys" are...well, what you said? Please clarify.

  • Yeah but it does annoy me when an instructor uses a student as a punch bag and telling them its for there benefit makes them stronger.

Yet some of them instructors cant take the same treatment.

  • Most MA students understand that if they get beat up in trainings, they will become tougher

  • It is part of the training of the adult yudansha.

  • I respect your training, but why is the big guy letting the the little japenese guy hit him with full force but wont hit him with full force back.

  • Fair question. The big guy is the student...regardless of any perceived physical advantages:power, conditioning, etc., the student always retains the respect and understanding of honor. In TRAINING, things equalize quickly, regardless of most factors...but in real Combat, age, wisdom, and experience likely outweigh all else...

  • Oh, and...the sensei is hitting the big guy at No Where Near "full force;" if he did , the big guy would be damn near dead.

  • Goju Ryu is awesome. I started it again at a dojo in Maryland, USA. That's one messed up training system, I never got so many bruises or sweat so much before. The place is called Free State Martial Arts

  • I do gyu ruy too thats good..

  • this 70 years old sensei would put any taekwondo "jumper" to the ground in anytime, what they learn is really selfdefend, I it maybe doessnt look that flashy and cool, but I asure you that its way more dangerous and "deadly" then any "jump martial art" for example Taekwonod

  • Man these guys are soo cool..

  • my name is sandro quevedo,I've train shorin ryu in the past however i switched to okinawa goju ryu, this footage is a very good inspiration in our dojo , thank you.

  • You are, and I belive that the person who posted the video would agree.., very welcome. The nice thing is that Youtube makes it easy to SHARE what we do. No "right" way, just different ways...take and enjoy what you like and share from you're own as well--we can all keep learning together.

  • Well said.

  • wonderful video, best regards from chile wade sensei

  • u wud be able to punch quicker and move quicker if u lost 20-25kg

  • yo the punch at 00:38 was ridiculous

  • sum are made for martial arts its a potential dis dude sorry...
