  • nice to hear this song on standard tuning. :D

  • Weiland would of made a damn good AIC lead singer!!!

  • I love the way all alternative and metal musicians do gigs togheter they are like a brotherhood, I mean bands like Nirvana, AIC, STP, Sreaming Trees, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Smashing Pumpkins, Metallica, Pantera, Anthrax and another bands I forgot right now play togheter and alternate members and I just see a perfect world in that... musically and spiritual speaking

  • niiice show...very intimate lucky bunch

  • Rolling stones has NO fucking clue what the fuck they are talking about. They put fucking eddie van halen as #75. Thats BULLSHIT

  • @TheAlphaMuscle hes like top 3 lol

  • @ledzep99113

    Easily lol

  • anyone else kind've find it funny when the chick says "better now"?

  • @PLAinK0oLL

    Their what?

  • Long live the 90's and AIC...

  • lmao someone saying "better now" when asked how they were doing.

  • An interesting version. This song has always spoke to me in some way or another.

  • The acoustic is great! Real talent..

  • Jerry's voice is awesome!...

  • Jerry Cantrell and Dean DeLeo playing together was pretty damn cool. Weiland, meanwhile, kind of looked like he was asleep half the time XD and yeah, it was kind of rude to not know the song but then again it's an STP concert and Jerry pretty much came in and stole the show XD I also love Jerry's reaction at the end he's like "holy crap, Dean can play!"

  • @herrkase Totally agree, so awesome to see Jerry & Dean playing together. It was kind of funny to see Scott Weiland relegated to backup vocals, haha. But Dean & Robert did awesomely to play so well in concert with Jerry on a AIC song.

  • I never said I'd fun of a man's hat, but Weiland's hat is stupid.

  • nice job SCOTT! nice :)

  • Well done txhal9000.....I see Maskil has disappeared! Pretty funny shit dude! Fucking Russians killing off our Rock stars pisses me off, even if it was bad Vodka. If you can't drink the shit, don't listen to You Tube....it's that simple Maskil!

  • carajo que dichosas estar personas....

  • maskil you idiotic twat you

  • Hey Maskil....are you sure about this? I just Googled Jerry and I can't find anything about him dying??? I hope you are thinking about Layne.

  • He will be missed Maskil. What a friging shame! I loved his softer side like this.

  • This combination works so well on many levels. Jerry might need to think about joining STP as this is some powerful music here. Very nice!

  • what year was this? 2000 or 2001?

  • Jerry and Dean are a pretty cool combo.

  • I Love Cantrell, not to mention that AIC and STP are two of my favorite bands of all time...

great song...Maybe Cantrell should join STP...

  • That was awesome

  • Spelling

  • Jerry and Layne together made Alice in Chains great. You have to admit that when Layne died, AIC died a little too. Jerry devoted an entire album (degraduation trip) to Layne after he died. There will never be another Layne Staley. R.I.P.

  • If you like Laynes singing you should check out Phil Anselmo. He was an amazing singer in his youth. He's a bit meh now because of so many drugs and surgeries but still look into that.

  • yeah phils' voice was amazing, especially cowboys era, he could do all kinds of variety on vocals, scott is incredibly talented at changing his voice up as well, maynard comes to mind as well as jerry actually

  • I'd have to agree, but Weiland fills the gap better than anyone I've heard yet. This tune and angry chair are freakin sweet. If it doesn't work out for AIC and Duvall, I hope like hell they recruit Weiland.

  • yeah but all they need is another singer to die from a heroine overdose, im actually surprised scott has survived all these years

  • @nnnnnate Degradation Trip was SUCH an underrated release. Almost to the point of unfairness to Jerry.

  • @MaximumCarnage20 I agree. He is so tallented, it's rediculous. And you have to be in the grunge circle to even hear his name. I hope someday he gets the credit he deserves as far as recognizing his vocals, instrumental, and just overall musical accomplishments.

  • @nnnnnate whats even more pathetic is in many Top 100 guitarist polls jerry is never included... absurd

  • @nnnnnate whats even more pathetic is in many Top 100 guitarist polls jerry is never included... absurd

  • @shibbyniss

I agree that man should be cannonized lol...Saint Jerry

  • @shibbyniss yeah fuckin agree

  • @shibbyniss Rolling Stone included Jack White (at like #18 no less), but not Cantrell.

  • @Lusthog609 rolling stone sucks ass....Jerry is for sure one of the best out of 90s...to me he is one of the best out of all the eras :D .... you dont need to shred million notes to be a good guitarist ..... plus rolling stones made kirk hammet #1 ....so theres nothing more to say ....James hetfield is 100000 times better thn kirk omlet .....basically mr.omlet wrote one solo and played it over all the metallica songs....Anyway JERRY KICKS ASS

  • @sandblastedXIII kirk hammet blows i was playin all his shit after a year of playin and its boring... jerry annhialates mr omlet lol as does david gilmour and my little sister

  • @rocketpower66 lol agreed, i had the solo to One down pat at around age 12. the whole song for that matter

  • @nnnnnate I agree on everything but Degradation Trip being 'devoted' to Layne. The original DT was released 2 months before Layne passed, Vol. 1 & 2 (with 11 more tracks mostly recorded during the same session) was released 3 months after Layne's passing.

  • @WanderlustX2 you know what? The only reason I know this is because of this...But their Nothing Safe Best of the Box, and it's in the album info if you play it on your computer. Not made up.

  • @nnnnnate I agree with everything but "AIC died a little too"

  • here's my 2 cents..... i agree that gerry should be way more recognized for his role in AIC , but he can thank Layne for most of it!

  • and he does

  • wouldve gave my left nut if i couldve been there along w/ layne!!!!

  • Jerry deserves more credit

  • @nnnnnate

I'd hope by now people realize Alice in Chains has ALWAYS been JERRY'S band!

He never gets any credit for that either!

  • Nobody sings like Layne, i really miss it

  • I wanna be in that room! What? Private show for 50 people?!

  • So do I!!!

  • Weiland may be a bit unsure on the vocal, but Dean D. smoked the lead. Thanks for this vid, very cool!

  • i always thought scott should be singing with alice.

  • Actually i thought it was pretty shitty the Scott was ousted from STP, but they weren't doing so hot come No. 4. Core was and is still STP's best with Purple next.

  • nice .. i think collabs were practiced more during the 90s until the hardcore era

  • no more color grey!

  • you should all get off scotts back for reading the vocals. layne and jerry did the same thing at the unplugged concert.

  • that was set up as sheet music!!! With the lyrics under the music! Jerry sounds great on this

  • @penal420 really? why did they fuck em up then?

  • @jacknife10000 cause they're human, people make mistakes. plus layne was pretty sick during the unplugged. he fucked up like 2 or 3 times at most anyway, not bad considering it was their first performance in about 3 years.

  • Cantrell. Got me wrong. Authentic music.

  • Jerry Cantrell is absolutly AMAZING!!!

  • Yeah, yeah! That´s it!

  • I was always so blown away by Layne Staley's voice that I didn't realize what a fine voice Jerry Cantrell has. He's great!

  • yeah..he really had a great voice; U should see him singing "wish you were here" with slash,...they made a great cover

  • slts94: You weren't kidding! "Wish You Were Here" with Jerry and Slash is absolutely fantastic! Thanks! ;-)

  • you're welcome, is always fun to share this kind of info

  • Jerry always did backing vocals and it always sounded perfect with Layne's voice. btw, Jerry is the lead singer of Alice in Chains now if you didn't know that lol. Check out their Myspace.

  • cantrell is a genius and so is scott

  • CHEVERE :D

  • does JErry or LAyne sing most of this song?

  • it's hard to tell but it's Layne singing the verse and background chorus from what I understand because during their MTV unplugged concert Layne sang it.

  • nah i can tell its him easily..he sings like that in "am i inside" on that same CD...

  • This isn't that bad. Jerry's the friggin' man!

  • this is a great song and if ever there had been a replacement for staley scott would have been my first choice but this just shows as good as he is there is just one man who fit alice to even consider alice whith out layne wrong.

  • I'd be more than happy to say what I feel about Scott's vocals on this one IF I COULD EVEN HEAR THEM.

  • layne always seems to get a lot of credit, but jerry cantrell is definitely underrated as a vocalist and musician.

  • Although technically Layne was the lead singer of AIC, it's the combination of both their voices/harmonies that make the AIC sound. Their voices are similar which is why it worked so well. Props all around!

  • Great song!

  • wow this is awesome.... imagine being there, just chilling and listening to such amazing music in a private setting like this

  • when and where exactly was this filmed? and was everyone drunk? RIP Layne :(

  • watching this stuff ever make you wanna cry?

  • Swiffty , I know just what you mean bro. The generation of us that were teenagers in the early 90's really didn't grasp just how lucky we were to be a part of it. There were so many legends in their prime during that time. There just arent any bands of that quality these days.

  • Bands these days are fucking shit! I'm a teenager now and I hate other teenagers and their tastes XD All of my best friends have the same tastes and so most of them tend to be older than I am.

  • Jerry's a bad azz~

  • Comment removed

  • No disrepect to Weiland, but he's got nothing on Cantrell. Cantrell's voice is heavenly.

Corey Taylor would be the perfect replacement for Layne Staley.

  • I don't think so, man.

  • Totally agree that Jerry's voice is heavenly, here.

  • Weiland's vocals are terrible on this! WTF?!

  • Oh God... we miss you so much Layne, RIP.

    Nice performance, btw. :-)

  • i would love to see jerry and scott wieland make a few songs together!

  • all this video does is reinforce the loss of Layne Staley... They may emulate, but they will never duplicate

  • Comment removed

  • He asked for the cheat sheet because it ain't his song, and he doesn't know it by heart.

  • great video

  • They should just get axl rose and be the new GnR.

    Yes Im kidding.

  • what is the title of the song?

  • Got Me Wrong by Alice in Chains

  • goozebumps...................

  • amazing

  • Jerry and Rob DeLeo = 1/2 of my supergroup

  • This is awesome!

  • Jerry Cantrell+Dean DeLeo= what else could you ask for?...

  • Robert DeLeo of course, those brothers are magicians

  • A great singer must to know how to do 2nd voice and definitely Scott knows! One of the best singers we have nowadays! I think nobody needs to sing high notes to be great!

  • yes, you're rigth, Scott is a great singer, but Layne is so much better!!

  • Layne with Jerry are perfect to AIC as well as Scott is perfect to STP and VR.

  • Though Scott is perfect in STP, I feel he was not as perfect with VR. NOt saying it was bad, but STP & Weiland > VR & Weiland

  • Agreed.

  • Was.

  • there was a time when i thought weiland should've fronted chains after layne but then i realized they probably don't want another dead singer. i don't see good things in his future.

  • Hey - they're playing it tuned up a half step. Nice rendition!

  • that was sweet, jerry slowed the song down so much. wow he really knew how to wrte songs

  • where was this...it looks like some house party...i want stp at my house party that would be fucking kickass..

  • Layne is dead, long live Scott Weiland

  • scott weiland will get his props when he dies. don't you worry. after gods become mortal is when they really become amazing. thats how fucking society works.

  • I didn't actually mean that comment; I just wanted to see how people would respond. They're both great

  • Wow, what an awesome performance. This looks like it was a private venue.

  • When is this from? Wish I had been there.

  • hey lets argue about our favorite music, because musical taste isnt 100% opinion or anything..

    fucking humans.

  • Also, like so many others here have said.....Jerry Cantrell is a fucking genius! Him and Staley weren't just a force....they were an element of their own.

....but, like someone posted somewhere else.....Cantrell's solo stuff was good too, and Duvall isn't a bad singer.....he's got heart and passion in his voice.

I'm not sure about the live songs.....but I have no doubt their studio album will kick ass! Might bring back some good grungey memories ;)

  • I totally agree, the band wouldn't have picked him if they didn't think he was up to it

  • The greatest thing about STP...what no other grunge influenced band could do....they took sounds from the differing grunge bands...Nirvana, AIC, Pearl Jam....rolled it all into one, and actually made it work. Everyone from Bush, to Creed, to Puddle of Mudd couldn't do it right. I'll admit that I like atleast ONE song from said post-grunge bands.....but EVERY STP song was a masterpiece.

STP did good by grunge. Derivative, yes I admit....but so was AC/DC by Chuck Berry's rock sound.

  • They were a hard rocking band, that like I said, did good by grunge.

If you're a grunge fan, but don't like STP...a piece is missing from your puzzle :P

  • Haha you think STP was deritivem you must be retarded or something.

Dude STP made their own form of rock, I'd hardly even consider them grunge or post-grunge. They did a blending of modern alternative rock and hard rock of the 1970s, creating a form of arena rock. Later albums would include some pop and psychedelic elements. There are like NO bands that could imitate Dean Deleo's guitar vibe.

  • Well, I forgot to mention this :P

I wasn't talking shit. To deny their derivitive-ness is just plain nuts, though. Tell me Creep didn't sound like Nirvana, for example :P

Like I said, I wasn't talking shit about them....they made the sound work. They added their own originality to it....but they were definitely indeed derivitive...which doesn't AUTOMATICALLY mean suckage ;)

If I wanted to talk shit, I could've said "generic", "bland", "sell-out"...etc....

  • Even if you're not talking shit, you're plain wrong. Creep only VOCALLY sounded like Nirvana. Go listen to Crackerman, Vasoline, ILS, or Sour Girl and tell me what part sounds like any of the grunge bands.

  • Exactly!

  • Crackerman sounds vaguely grunge-ish.

  • Yeah I think Jerry should stick to jamming with bands like his own AIC, STP, Metallica, and if hasn't yet Pearl Jam. Fuck Nickelback.

  • This verson is way more slowed down.

  • Both bands are going to make great albums next year.

  • AIC is in the studio recording new material.

  • Holy crap Jerry Cantrell and Dean Deleo!!

  • I would love to welcome Jerry Cantrell to join STP... I know, but a man can dream.

Cantrell has got to be one of the most brilliant musicians as far as arrangements go. He worked up unorthodox time signatures and on AIC albums, he was brilliant with backing guitars that came out of nowhere with the coolest effects on them.

As for Layne and Scott, I hate to compare the two. They're both brilliant and completely original. Layne had the howl and Weiland made grunge fun without being cheesy.

  • Don't plan the funeral until the body dies.

  • thats from Grind lol

  • what's from grind?

    this song is from sap.

his comment "dont play the funeral untill the body dies" are from grind lol

  • Good call. Your absolutely right.

  • lol i know my stuff XD

  • Yeah, what he said.

  • WTF??? Did ya need to say it?

  • sorry, sorry, didn't mean to word it that way :) - i like scott and jerry both, in which they are both great song writers (and jerry a musician =]). but, i just respect jerry cantrell more than scott weiland. i shouldn't have said it so harshly. but someday, he may die of an overdose, we all know that. i just felt as if scott ruined the song :D

  • you kinda just said you have no respect for layne

  • I hope you never get what you are waiting for. :P

  • Jerry Cantrell is the best song writer of the past 20 years

  • Weiland and Cantrell huh... not bad not bad.

i love it how Weiland has the cheatsheet with the words... lol

  • I like Weiland and Cantrell's voices together. A project with Weiland fronting a Cantrell band would very interesting indeed.

btw - When is this from?

  • well into the 90's anyway i'd say

  • That's probably the most retarded comment i ever read here.

    RETARD!

  • And H3llb0und made probably the funniest comment I ever read here!

  • There are many similarities. For instance, all of these bands utilize the _guitar_ and the _drums,_ as well as the _human voice_...

  • dude you are such a douchebag...It is not all the same. STP kicks all their asses anyway.

  • Man I gave it 5 stars as soon as I heard the first chord!

  • man stone temple pilots with jerry!.... thats awesome i wish i was there to see that, great combination, wish layne was there tho

    thanks for posting =]

  • Sounds great!!
