  • I don't know how people could be offended by this movie, I lost almost my whole family from cancer and I thought it was hilarious!

  • @JinxDraven I'm sorry to hear that but good for you for not being offended! I think a lot of people LIKE to get offended by things just so they can complain, you know? That's why I'm surprised less people are offended haha

  • I thought it was hilarious!!!! And like you said, they did a good job of keeping it unoffensive. I think for the most part of that being done was that his cancer was very rare and different so its not quite as common to actually be offensive.

  • I came about this movie thinking is was just a good comedy, not knowing what it was about. Then when I realized it was about cancer i was like "oh, okay." I literally sat there on the verge of tears laughing my ass off. in a way I related to Seth's character, because the way he didn't do much is the way I responded to my mom getting cancer. But in another way it scared me more then the majority horror movies I watch, It was just a little too close to home.

  • Picked this up during the week immediately fell in love w/ this film Seth rogen at his best in my opinion one of my 2011 top 5

  • I completely agree, when I watched this my grandfather had recently passed away because of cancer, and I still laughed really hard at times ( and cried hard too) It is truly an amazing film

  • your fingers are very pink lol

  • awwww i was expecting spoilers. Like what scenes you liked. oh well....I LOVED this movie! i laughed so many times.

  • How many balls does Eric have?

Because it does not seem like he has the average 2.

  • @JohnElmosjr I am so curious as to what this means. Legitimately.

  • @JohnElmosjr Hum.. what the hell did I just read? XD

  • I loved this movie. It was humorous yet emotional. I loved not knowing whether he was going to survive or not, it made me scared for his character and it made me hope so badly that the ending would be a good one. I personally do not know anyone who has passed away from cancer, but my best friend's mom did, and he loved the film also. We talked about it and we think it's great that this film allows you to see those perspectives, and it teaches you to focus on the good things during bad times.

  • Eric, Rape. find comedy in this lol

  • @455SaveFerris Two clowns. Done.

  • @PrettyMuchIt

LOL. Dude your fantastic. Hey Btw i saw some guy posted about Mission impossible & Sherlock Holmes. I think you would really enjoy them bro! The directing in Sherlock Holmes was amazing.

  • I have lost a load of close relatives to cancer and I am glad they made a movie like this. When you have cancer you do not dwell on it for a long time, you have to make the most of your life. Thats what they did.

  • The closest person I had to a father died two years ago from cancer. I thought the movie was fantastic and realistic about both perspectives of the experience.

  • This came out like 4 months ago

  • Wheres My Spiderman Updates!!!

  • @fxcknhardcoreownage Waiting to get some updates, we can't just make them up haha. Should be a new trailer out next month to discuss.

  • @PrettyMuchIt How bout the rumors of spider-man supposedly making a cameo in the avengers? Even though its not an update i would love to see what you have to say about this rumor and if you believe it or not.

  • I wonder if Seth Rogen is working on his third cancer comedy, cause Funny People and 50/50 need their trifecta.

  • I loved it. Period.

  • I Loved it.

  • my favorite movie of the year

  • Great review, I completely agree with you on this film.

  • The friend that Seth Rogen experienced this with is Will Reiser, who actually wrote the movie. It's loosely based off of him, so Seth Rogen is basically playing himself, except this time Joseph Gordon-Levitt is playing his friend.

  • My favorite movie of 2011

  • I watched this movie in theatres with my mom. We both have lost several family members due to cancer, yet she did not seem moved by this movie. She enjoyed it as a comedy, but I suppose the numbness that JGL's character felt was foreign to how she and my family members experienced it.

The film might not convey cancer in the devastating darkness to which we're accustomed, but that should not dismiss it as a good film. People go through cancer in different ways. I really enjoyed the movie.

  • I've never lost anybody to cancer, but this past September my grandmother had to go through surgery for breast cancer which was diagnosed in July 2011. She survived, but for awhile she was really worried about much like Joseph Gordon-Levitt in the movie is about his illness, and so was I because I didn't know if she would be ok or not. Thanks for the review!

  • i'd recommend this movie to anybody! it was so good

  • I have known people who have struggled with and/or died from cancer so I am kind of eager to see this film, despite the fact that I can't stand Seth Rogen. It's in my Netflix list so I should see it before too long.

  • I have no direct experience of this kind of troubles but I found it easy to relate to the the protagonist. As you said, the movie was funny but not offensive, not a parody or anything, you wouldn't forget the problem but look at it from another perspective.

Good review, I love the new PMI :)

  • in my top10 from 2011. can we call it 'dramedy'? JGL is amazing :)

  • You manage to phrase things so well!

  • i know what happens because it was based on a true story and seth rogen told us how it ended on Jonathan Ross show... damn you seth!

  • your kidding eric? you didnt know? its american made film,, i knew the exact ending of the film within first 20mins but i still like the film. 7/10.

  • I'm glad to hear the main character in this movie(sorry I'm not good with actors and actress's names) actually does have cancer... oh that sounds bad. What I mean is, when I saw the preview I thought it was about a guy whos friend convinces him to pretend to have cancer to pick up chicks. I'm glad to hear that is NOT the case and now I want to see this movie. :)

  • this movie is GREAT!

  • i've been waiting for this review since i was born! :D YAY!

  • LOVED EVERYTHING BOUT SETH ROGANS HYSTERICAL INIT....made me laugh so hard !

  • I've lost family because of cancer.

I'm in high school, I know two people right now fighting the disease, and one who has beaten it.

I loved the movie. It hows that, just because it's about cancer, doesn't mean it has to be dark and brooding. It's realistic. Just because you have the disease, doesn't mean every waking moment of your life is going to be dark and negative.

That being said, there are some heartwarming scenes, and some that make you wanna just cry.

    Surprisingly well done movie.

  • I absolutely loved it. The scene in the car was so powerful and well-done. Its the kind of movie you remember for a long time.

  • Do you only have solid colored shirts?

  • Are you aware that both of the clips you used are "inverted," so to speak? In the first clip, Seth is over Joseph's left shoulder, but in the actual film he's over his right. Just look at the poster that's next to you the whole video. How odd.

Anyway, I loved the movie. Gordon-Levitt was terrific (I think he's one of the best young actors today) and Rogen, although not a great "actor," is hilarious as the funnyman. The balance between comedy and drama was perfect, and not offensive at all.

  • @Drebin31 It's inverted to avoid copyright laws.

  • @LoganWGum I'm not an expert with copyright laws, but inverting a clip doesn't sound like it would make a difference. The poster, however, isn't inverted at all. Using that image without permission has got to be copyright infringement.

I've always considered Eric to be very respectful of the copyright laws (putting links in the descriptions and such), so I hope this isn't a clever way to suddenly try getting around them. It's also kind of disrespectful to alter the film like that.

  • @Drebin31 ... are you serious right now? what are you? the author of SOPA? get over it and enjoy the damn review.

  • @777fallenangel77 I enjoyed the review very much, and my opinion of the film is in my first comment. At the same time, I'm interested in stuff like copyright laws. If that's not something you care about, that's fine. Honestly, most of my curiosity really comes from the fact that YouTube partners can't make money off of copyrighted material, and Eric has always avoided using other people's work by posting links, but now all of a sudden he's using images and clips.

  • @Drebin31 - new site, new rules. Maybe he's just trying to make it more thorough or professional? either way, copyright laws are great, as long as their not used tyrannically or abused. And if this review was tagged for a copyright infringement, it would fall under both tyrannical and abusive use of those laws. A.K.A. section 107 of the Copyright Act 1976. I'm a little touchy about the ridiculous way people and companies are using 'copyright' as a way of monopolization right now.

  • @777fallenangel77 Thanks for an informative response. I agree that SOPA is outright ridiculous and potentially disastrous (most of its writers are probably not from the "computer" generation, and thus likely don't truly comprehend what they've drafted). But again, at the same time, as a type of artist myself (theatrical sound designer) I believe in respecting a filmmaker or any artist's creation, and altering the footage like that seemed a little careless.

  • @Drebin31 - I agree that films deserve respect, but as a 'vidder' I also understand that using 'copyrighted' material for a separate purpose than the filmmaker originally intended can be done without disrespecting the source material. Also, the stigma over using media without permission pisses me off as an author. I know that once I post something online or publish it, it's open to the public. It's not just my property anymore, it's open to everyone that relates or reacts to it.

  • @Drebin31 - He is able to clips/posters under the laws exception for "fair use". YouTube allows images/video clips/software use/video game use as long as it is not the only thing in the video. Eric can't for instance can't re-post the entire trailer for 50/50. He can however, post portions of it, so long as he is commenting on it shortly before/after/while it is playing, and it is for educational purposes. I'm guessing Eric has only recently come to understand this properly.

  • @Drebin31 I'm legally allowed to use the footage, but YouTube's copyright seeking robots don't know that so it could be taken down by mistake. I avoid the mistake by inverting the footage. Just a problem that YouTube needs to fix, but it's all good.

  • @PrettyMuchIt where's the spoiler section, fool? I wanted to know what you thought of the ending and the reactions you had.

  • i loved this movie!

  • i love how you suddenly want to review all these movies now. You were the one that told use you had a life, and now suddenly your all into prettymuchit again

  • @cheering4avalon His "life" that kept him from PrettyMuchIt was a haunted house he ran during October. Now, since he doesn't have any responsibility, he's making this his top priority.

  • This is easily the most underrated film of 2011. I strongly hope it wins best original screen-play at the oscars. Will Reiser did an astounding job.

  • I just finished watching this movie, and I absolutely loved it. perfect mix of humor and drama (not really sure if that's the right word)

  • I cannot explain how much I LOVE this movie. I saw it twice in theatres and cannot wait for it to come on dvd next week!

  • At the end of your reviews or in the description box you should rate it 5 out of 5. Or something like that!

  • Finally!! =D

  • Its really good! I enjoyed it

  • It was my favorite film of 2011. Best balanced Comedy and Drama. Hope it doesn't get robbed this year. Strikes all the most honest strings.

  • I dont get it...dont get me wrong, I like these movie reviews, but i thought he said they are only going to be doing longer videos to over-view everything that happened at the end of the week? Did I misunderstand or can they just not make up their mind?

  • the best movie in 2011

  • My mother died of cancer when I was young, so cancer can be a touchy subject for me...

But a good movie is a good movie, and this movie was good.

  • loved this movie so much. one of my if not my favorite of 2011

  • Buying this movie ONCE it comes to DVD...can't wait

  • this movie was......incredible, im a 17 year old guy, and i enjoy ALL of levits movies

  • aaahhh where are the spoilers? I like when you talk about spoilers!

  • I loved this movie, but I thought the swearing was just excessive.

  • i really wanna see this!!!!!!!!

  • HAHAHA finally! I remember when we saw it you were like, "I'll release it the week it comes out".... yeahhhh ahhahaha

  • i loved this movie. it was one of the only ones that actually made me cry. it was absolutely amazing.

  • This movie is the best movie I'v seen for like 18 years and yes let me telly I am 18

  • This movie was very well done. I loved it

  • Exhibit WHORE!!!

  • i've suffered a lot due to cancer, but this movie made me laugh, smile and cry. it addressed cancer in a way that i could relate to and find humour in. i want my family members to watch it so they know how the people in my family are feeling, and how we should treat them. it's a must see, and i give it 50/50 ;)

  • I didnt really see this as a comedy. I thought it felt more like a drama... I mean it was funny at times but it seemed more serious

  • I've lost many loved ones to cancer over the years, luckily I've also known many survivors as well, and I thought this film was absolutely wonderful.

  • one of the best of 2011

  • i've been waiting for a long ass time for this review from you. sucka.

  • my brother kind of looks like seth roguen

  • My aunty passed from cancer, and i loved the movie!

  • It is Exceptionally WELL DONE

    :) I loved it!

  • Came to look and see if you had reviewed this right after i watched it a second ago, and here it is. So happy great review man.

  • i can't wait to see that movie

  • Inoffensive. It's a word, use it! ^_^ Stay awesome.

  • Thankfully the top comments didn't ruin the ending. I scrolled down only enough to leave this comment...i was scared to go further, after all it is youtube. :(

  • This movie was so wonderful and tonally perfect. It makes me sad that Gordon-Levitt won't get the recognition he deserves for this role. People forget what a great, naturalistic actor he is.

  • Its Comedy Drama...

  • That last clip reminded me of Levitt in 3rd Rock from the Sun. Love that show!!! Can't wait to see this movie!!!

  • One of the best movies of all time. :D

  • I saw it back in October with my friends, we all got teary-eyed throughout the movie. Such a great watch. I recommend it for everybody!

  • like if you were crying during the hospital scene before the surgery !

  • @GIANP022 I totally cried. Like only at that part.

  • @GIANP022 omg i lost it

  • I love those two actors, but haven't had a chance to watch the film. But this review makes me want to see it soooooo badly.

  • i loved this movie,i've lived through that my mom had cancer last year luckly she survived, and like you said i did not findd it offensive in any way. Amazing movie!!

  • I have lost a family member to cancer, as well as have had bad medical problems myself. It did somewhat strike an emotional cord with me. But this did not effect me as much as My Sisters Keeper, where i cried my eyes out. I never cried during a movie before then.

  • seth amazing as always

  • SOPA Sucks.

  • Eric, Are You Worried About SOPA?

  • Be honest, did you cry at all during this movie?

    BTW this movie was AMAZING

  • I came going into this movie not knowing really what to expect, but in the end, it was well worth my money. (:

  • As someone who's gone through this with a family member: really hard to watch at time's. Made me shed a tear. One of my favorite films of 2011. Dramatic, not as comedic as you'd think, but gives you plenty of times to laugh. Amazing. Comes out on DVD and Blu-Ray this coming Tuesday (1/24). I recommend buying it, wholeheartedly. I know I'll be picking this up Day One :)

  • wonderful move!

  • I've really been on the fence with whether I wanted to see this or not simply because I dislike Seth Rogan (but love JGL). Now, I'll definitely give it a try. :)

  • @Lizologie u shaould this movie was so damn good just go ahead and buy it next week dont rent BUY>!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Its not for my balls, its a butt hair trimmer

  • Comment removed

  • @Girx2010 Joseph Gordon-Levitt

  • @Girx2010 *Joeseph

  • It was one of the best movies of 2011 for me.

  • This is a little bit old don't you think

  • I really love this movie, it was way better than expected, even though I started it wanting to see a comedy but it was way more dramatic than I thought and the comedy complements the story very well.

  • this movie came out a long ass time
