Those criticizing the lack of glamour this year should keep in mind the times...
This was the END of the greed-filled Reagan years. The country was falling into a another recession, the stock market had just crashed, and times were getting harder.
The lack of glamour didn't kill the show. The budget cutbacks came (and the glamour cut) because people had already stopped watching the show in huge numbers. The Moldavian massacre era is when Dynasty fell apart, and started losing audience.
i don't why people keep insisting on this season being a great one, it sucks big time! there's no krystle!!! and there are no luxury nor grat gowns by nolan miller, just 2 or 3, plain sad.
@artemiscarrington I agree. No wonder the show was cancelled after this awful season. Dynasty fell far & fast, with this wretched season coming just 4 years after the show hit #1. The sets are cheap & ugly (Alexis lives in a 2-room hotel that pales in comparison to her old penthouse) & we have to watch fake Fallon in some swarthy scum's rat-hole apartment. Bad acting, horrible plot lines & an aura of decline pervade this embarrassing final season for a once great show.
@redletter2008 EXACTLY, and there is no kyrstle! no nolan miller gowns! it looks NOTHING like the glory years, it's all focused on fallon, sammy jo, and i'm like "ok wait..wasn't this show about OLDER rich people and their lives"?
@artemiscarrington Even the lighting was bad. Notice how "dark" the sets are during this season. Were producers trying to hide the lack of designer duds, aging & increasingly unattractive actors & thrift store furniture & sets? As you noted, Fallon became a central focus (for some reason) in season 9. Producers might have just filmed her chest & muted her dialouge. Blake was so old his hair turned blue. Dex looked like an even uglier, male version of Snooky, with burned brown skin & greasy hair!
Where is Rio? Wouldn't he start barking at Sable's sneaky entrance? Thinking about it, though, maybe he was with a pet-sitter while Alexis was away
