Diesel engines dont have throttles, so no need for a dv. it would be completely useless as a performance mod. Its just a bit of fun. It will only benefit a petrol if your shifting up at about 10,000rpm with your foot nailed to the floor, so most cars you see driving about with them dont gain anything. just noise.

This guy has no idea now a turbo diesel engine works. In layman's terms for you most(back in the day, and still today) diesel turbo's use a actuator valve that is controlled by turbo boost, it's doesn't blow off any pressure. It moves the exhaust gases around the turbo to slow it down some if pressure is to much but constant pressure is maintained. With your set up you are losing all benefits of a Turbo.

@xscagx I don't mean to sound rude but what does a dump valve (blow off) have to do with a waste gate (internal or external) ? I'm not saying a BOV is needed or a good idea in an engine running stock boost (especially a diesel), but for higher boost application it is useful for avoiding compressor surge that can (in time) damage your turbo. The waste gate is used to regulate the level of boost. They have nothing to do with each other and are completely independent. Cheers, Octav

talking from experiance owning a 2.4 td running 0.6 bar and once it drops below 1500rpm compressor surge happens...

@STdemoniac For the record, i like your car. i run 2 diesels. one of them runs at 270bhp, with 425lb/ft of torque. it keeps up with most things, and goes past them. and does 35mpg. no dv though.
