The Church Christ died for is called the Church of Christ in the BIble, but it is also called by other names as well. We are saved by Christ, not our church membership, what church list our name is on. The church is every saved Christian. You can go to a church every Sunday and not be saved and not be a Christian. The LORD saves, not a church.
CoC is NOT a denomination!!! i'm a member of the CHURCH! NOT THE C OF C!!! it was established on the day of pentecost and all of todays denominations broke off of it. denominationalism is evil!!!
The Church of Christ wasn't established at Pentecost. That is the biggest lie perpetrated in CoCs...and really laughable. The Campbells established the CoC. Seeing as that worship services in the CoC look nothing like anything you see the NT doing, it makes it hard to believe the claim that you all come from that place. Take a look at some history and open up your mind. Denomination just means simply 2 name. You have named yourselves theee Church of Christ & Nothing else allowed on the sign
and the things you see in any denomination IS what you find in the NT!? They weren't using BANDS and "worship teams" to lead their services! The Campbell's did NOT est. the coC! there are verses in the Bible that specifically state that "the churches of Christ greet you" which REFERS TO there being churches (people, not the building/establishment) of Christ...look at your Greek translations again and your NT History to get your facts straight!
The difference between others and CoCs is they're not arrogant enough to claim that they are doing it exactly like NT churches were. Your reference is a common noun, not a proper name, The Church of Christ. You don't call yourselves Church of God, the Way, or any other common noun that the NT used. The Campbells picked Church of Christ. And Churches of Christ are nothing like NT churches. They didn't have mortgages & mens meetings & sacramental Lord Suppers. The list goes on....so funny
I have done some of my own research considering the CoC. The traditions that the CoC I know of claims to keep the offering of Lord's Supper on Sunday, meeting every Lord's day to sing hymns, and listening to God's word. (Acts 20:7) although I do agree that men's meetings are not what was intended. The Bible gives explicit instructions in Titus for the establishment of Elders, however can we say it's right for them to appoint Elders who aren't eligible to avoid men's meetings?

@hardcorefanJacoby It's harsh to call denominationalism evil, and it doesn't help your case. It will merely push people away from listening to your argument.
savin4 grace you are obviously lost the scriptures says to follow the doctrine of the cross by doing so you help the orphans and the the elderly it also says to take a up collections to help those who are less fortnate please study your bible more and ask GODS FORGIVENESS ON THAT ISSUE YOU ARE IN ERROE FOR JUDGING SOUNDS LIKE YOU HAVE
((((Shudder!)))) This is a major reason I became an atheist...sometimes it's good to go back and remind myself of the utter mediocrity and sheer boredom!
Perhaps you're having a hard time taking me seriously because I'm not being serious. I'm making light of my own experience at FC, not attacking yours.
You could - stay with me here - ignore my comment, and refuse to give it any power over you.
But no. You choose to be offended and actively display the lack of peace and joy in your life. I completely understand. I never had peace or joy in any of the years I begged god for it, either. And I've rarely seen it in others, most notably you.
I enjoy life so much more now, which includes laughing at it from time to time. I need to remember it's not so easy for those I left behind! So let's be a little nicer, huh?
Each day I will do a golden deed - UNLESS it is helping widows and orphans from the church treasury...Gal 6:10 is a call for CHURCH ACTION to do good unto ALL MEN, by the way - the antis notwithstanding.
First of all, you go by "savinggrace4u2." What I'm hearing in your tone is anything but "grace." I am privileged to know many of the people in this video. Many of them have done more for orphans than most would ever dream of doing. They don't send their money so someone else can care for the one in need, many have opened their own homes and taken in orphans, including troubled teens. Now, there's real grace.
Perhaps you should get to know some of these for whom you seem to have such animosity before making such a broad judgment on them. In the meantime, I'm praying for you which gives me an opportunity to do "good unto all men."
Just because someone states a harsh truth like SavingGrace did, does not mean that they don't have grace. Jesus was the least tolerant of those who were harsh and intolerable themselves. Stating that someone is unloving doesn't, in turn, make them unloving. Respond to his statements instead of using this typical, base CoC defense. FC lectures represent why the CoC is a denomination. FC represents how these churches are all networked and lectures is the meeting summit every year. So lame.
A trick the CoC uses in a lame attempt to deny the fact that it's a denomination is to re-define the word "denomination". I don't care what kind of twisted logic you use to justify yourself, but a denomination is "a group of religious congregations united under a common faith and name". It is NOT "a part of a whole" like the CoC wants to believe.
What a joke! Florida College represents the most strident legalistic sectarian partisian groups of any of the churches of Christ, who takes the stand that not one thin dime can be spent from the church treasury for a starving infant, while the church can spend the church money to fertilize the preachers lawn - what a joke!
The singing is one of the best parts of Lectures to me - you can feel the zeal and love that everyone in that huge building has for the Lord. :) I'm so glad someone got a video of this! :)
Lectures always has THE best singing!
