I dont think its so much the acting or VFX - this needs more inspired camerawork. Why are all the dialogue scenes shot so flat? I think sometimes too much focus on color grading and lens flares and what not and then basic staging is neglected.
I think this is a nice movie minus the acting actually, YES everyone this is a No Budget film almost a little they spent on it but STILL it looks Good imo.

They didn't make this movie to compete against Transformers, they made it to show you that if you don't like the plot in a movie, you can get up off your lazy ass and make one yourself with a little to no budget and a degree in Film Production could help, but isn't required.

Now, when people cgi is getting cheap, that is ridiculous. It would have cost hundreds of thousands of dollars to hire people to do this. Of course, most professionals don't have Blender. (though I believe they used 2.49 for this film- which after you use 2.5, seems terrible.) They have to pay for Maya ($5000) which is not as good.

@keef920 As someone who worked on the film I can tell you that although we want everyone to have a chance to see it, pirating this film would be a pretty obvious insult to the effort we put into it. Dozens of people each put hundreds and hundreds of hours into this project, and paid for things out of our own pockets. This was all in the hope that eventually people who have an interest in supporting grassroots projects could enjoy the film. Looks like Hollywood is winning again, unfortunately.

The CG effects on this movie look good I think. Like one of the top post said, it's the acting that worries me about the quality of the film. You can have a good story & great effects, but if your actors can't give a believable performance then it can truly take away from all the good things the movie has going for it. You have to consider whats happened here these guys are volunteers meaning Unpaid with graphics being used on open source software which means its free. These movies are going to be the pioneering effort that will allow artists to make films without having to rely on big budget studios. Which could mean better quality movies down the road. At the very least more variety, this poses a viable threat to Hollywood if its taken seriously. No more kissing some millionaires ass to make a great movie.

Seems really nice! Try having it played at the Fantasia festival in Montreal city (in Canada) next year. They are always looking for great movies like yours to play and the festival has a very large fan base so it's nice for visibility. I tried linking the festival in this comment but it won't let me. You can google their site for the 2011 event (fantasia + 2011).

You don't need a high budget these days to do decent sceneries by utilizing modern graphic engines.
Acting is another story, some have a gift for it, some don't - but you don't necessarily need to be a professional actor to do decent acting.
Also a movie like Paranormal Activity had a budget of about 11.000$, and that budget went mostly into a video camera and a new bed.
Revenue so far has been around 200.000.000$.
So it can and may work sometimes.

Seems really nice! Try having it played at the Fantasia festival in Montreal city (in Canada) next year. They are always looking for great movies like yours to play and the festival has a very large fan base so it's nice for visibility. I tried linking the festival in this comment but it won't let me. You can google their site for the 2011 event (fantasia + 2011).

Seems kind of corny. Like the acting and the narrative...or maybe its just the acting, and it's just making the narrative seem silly. the effects are really cool at least. But I don't really know what to think about this, after finally being able to see a trailer. I hope its good...
