@sniperRobert You'd be surprised dude. A lot of guys join other services, especially Reserve/Guard once they land a big civilian career and/or family. It seems that some Marines look down on Soldiers, though I went to Infantry School alongside a former Marine, had a Drill Sergeant who was a former Marine, and happened to have another recruit who had been Canadian Forces Infantry. Army is no easier than USMC, just a very different culture. More unit pride than service pride, and no boats.
•Dick Cheney, VP: Until 2000 - President of Halliburton (in position to build the Afghan pipeline).
•Condoleezza Rice, National Security Advisor: 1991-2000 - Manager of Chevron Oil, and Kazakhstan go-between.
•Donald Evans, Sec. Commerce: former CEO, Tom Brown, Inc. (a $1.2 billion oil company).
•Gale Norton, Sec. Interior: former national chairwoman of the Coalition of Republican Environmental Advocates - funded by, among others, BP Amoco. (cont)
•Spencer Abraham, Sec. Energy: Up through his failed bid for senatorial reelection in the 2000, he received more oil and gas industry money than all but three other senators (January 1997 through July 2000) (30).
•Thomas White, Secretary of the Army: former Vice Chairman of Enron and a large shareholder of that company's stock.
All that was needed was a triggering event to steal the pipeline away!
12/4/98: Unocal withdrew from the project thus placing Bridas of Argentina in control; it was Bridas that pioneered exploration in Turkmenistan. It was Bridas that came up with the idea of a trans-Afghanistan pipeline. Before the Clinton administration had declared war on the Taliban, it was Bridas that was best positioned to build the pipeline.
April 99: Afghanistan, Pakistan, Turkmenistan, reactivated project
March 2001: India joins US plan to attack Afghanistan
May 2001: Regarding the placement of the Unocal Pipeline, a US Official delivered this ultimatum to the Taliban (via the Pakistani delegation acting as their interlocutors): "Either you accept our offer of a carpet of gold, or we bury you under a carpet of bombs." (Ref: Jean-Charles Brisard & Guillaume Dasquie); Bush compels banks to cut off Argentina bank funding & canceled a billion in aid monies
wow I first time heard about Marine who joined to US Army.... but this is his choice

I wish we could ear more of what the soldiers think of what we're doing, rather tan what the liberal journalists think we're doing.
