I actually sent an email to Dave through "The Scorpion" in their website, asking if Dave really treats his fans this way. Even gave a link to this video. I was bored, sorry.
Hi there! Thanks for posting this. I have two questions for you and I hope you'll answer them sincerely. ONE: Do you hate Dave now? TWO: Do you still listen to Megadeth? ......................eagerly waiting for your response. Peace brother!
I'm freakin old dude. I've been listening to Dave for EONS, I'm not Emo. I'm a realist who expected to be treated with respect and got the overly pompous, spoiled, celebrity reaction. I have been a diehard fan for YEARS and to have my "autographed" cd thrown at me with a "yeah, whatever" after paying extra, missing a concert and driving for hours to see my idol... this was a slap in the fucking face.He makes money from us the fans and treating 1 of us this way treats all this way
@St3ph2u Dude, there are a quite a few who have had this happen. I was talking to this guitar store worker who said he went to see Megadeth and got Dave's Auto. But this guy in front of him had brought his first megadeth album that he bought, the one that got him started on playing guitar, and asked him to sign it, and Dave got all pissy at him stating and I quote "Look man, I'm only signing one thing today" which would be the band pictures that had been mass produced for that specific occassion
Totally right. 5 years ago i couldve worn my old-school "Ride the Lightning" shirt and kids would think like "oh he is a weird kid". Now i wear that shirt and they say, "its a metallica album, it rocks" due to guitar fags. Now my shirts say fuckin' RUST IN PEACE!!!!
trust me, i like meagdeth 1,000,000 times more then metallica, but to set the record straight, there are megadeth songs all over guitar hero aswell as metallica...
@Epicbad Please explain? There are on rockband, but in all honesty, that's mainly because they swarm THAT market with EVERYTHING, it's only really the new one that'll have any, I mean, that'll make it 5 tracks across guitar hero, and Metallica had one entitled after them!!
if you judge how good a band is by album sales then you are a not a real fan of metal metallica is a sellout ok megadeth is not yeah if you ask a 11 year what is the best metal band they will say metallica do you get my point.
@loligun1 I wouldn't say it was "sell out." I get so tired of people using that overrated fucking word. They just wanted to try something different. Sometimes it's a hit; others, it's a miss. And. by the way, I met Dave, and he was really friendly.
I bet they were anxious to get the fuck outta' there. I've been to one of those free meet n' greet sessions. Mustaine and the Drovers were complete fucking idiots, and made no effort to hide the fact that they really didn't want to be there. Ignorant and bloody rude. The only cool one out of the bunch was James MacDonough. He was great, really friendly, all smiles. I was surprised at the Drovers, since I've played with a few of their ex-Eidolon bandmates in '04.
then i said "it would make my life to get a hug." he goes "you promise" i then said yea and he opened his arms and went "come here big tough guy." and there were several seconds of meaningless chatter and then he moved onto a crippled kid, with whom he prayed in their ear for about 30seconds, and left them crying, tears of joy though haha
Dave was nice but very forceful/mean with people out of line...we did wait up until 3a.m. in the rain after the show to meet them though...about 30 people
Dave is without a doubt one of my biggest idols, when i met him, it was a much different story though...I met him told him he was the reason i play guitar and my biggest idol, he said "thank you buddy, i love you." and he then signed my ticket and then my vest...moved on to my sister and asked for her necklace in trade for a hug,
Mustaine a dick? Hardly. I met him this exact same show (Oakland Arena Gigantour) and not only did he give me an autograph, he gave me a *hug*. I said he looked tired and I hoped he got some rest, and he said that was really sweet, shook my hand, and hugged me. Despite looking like he was about to pass out.
So you'll have to excuse me if I really don't buy stories about him being a dick. Unless, you know, you asked for it and are conveniently leaving that out...
When I was looking over the ticket sale page on the internet before I went to my gigantour branch, I saw a link to the page for the VIP pass, and the no metallica paraphernalia rule is on the page somewhere or other
I think its more or less they just don't want fights to brake out between megadeth fans and metallica fans. Or maybe Dave doesn't want douchebags coming up to him in Metallica shirts saying "THEY'RE SO MUCH BETTER THAN YOU" not cause he'll cry, but he's just fuckin' sick of it.
Dave has said multiple times that after some kind of monster he was done with the Metallica feud, its beneath him now.
Plus, United Abominations kicks the shit out of Saint Anger. Fuckin' Megadeth pwnsauce

Dave's still been bitching about how he got kicked out, and uses petty insults. Plus, Death Magnetic will kick the shit out of UA. I've listened to the song UA, and I have to say...it was unimpressive. It's like Blackmail the Universe, but making it worse.
Really? Last interview I read he joked about threatening to brake his son's arm for playing a Metallica riff (joking, mind you), and then said "But seriously, I am done with Metallica, that stuff is behind me". It's not like before where he then goes and continues to wine, he's done, the fans aren't.
And the song UA was not great, but I'm referring to the CD. Sleepwalker, Washington is next, Call to arms we're all good songs.
From what I've heard so far, DM doesn't sound that great at all.
In the early 90's I got to meet many band idols of mine. Mainly due to being friends with a girl who worked for a promotions company so we used to attend press gigs. Half the time the guys we met were disinterested and would make comments we didn't expect. There were a few people who were super cool though, Sepultura treated us like old mates. Best of all was Iron Maiden, they were really cool. I met most of Megadeth but always managed to miss meeting Dave Mustaine.
i think it just depends on how he responds to certain things because when i met him in providence he let me run across the street and grab my guitar out of my truck and run back and he signed it with the rest of the band, the coolest was when i got to meet him a second time with the members of hasbro the same night lol
You know, after paying a pretty good amount of money, driving for a very long time and waiting in line to see a shitload of bands, then ending up missing most of them to get an autograph and having my idol say "yeah whatever" to me really kinda sucked. So "lucky" I wasn't. I just hope others don't have the same experience. I really loved that man and his talent, but yeah he pretty much broke my heart.
sorry to know that dude:( Wish You meet him again and won't be disappointed then. I've never met him. sometimes I don't want to meet him, cuz I don't want to be disappointed..lol! Staying away makes things safe:P
Aww, that must suck =(. I like Dave a lot too and respect him very much, but he is a busy man and has tons of fans who probably like him as much as you, gotta remember that part :p. At least you met the guy though, thanks for posting this.
@St3ph2u That's really disappointing to hear...this guy is my hero. When people talk about how much of a douch he is I back him up and say that was the past, he was fucked up then, but I guess he still is a primadonna :/ very sad
I met Dave in 92. I followed a french tv team after a show ... after the black curtain I said hello to Nick (very cool he didn't see I had no pass around my neck!) then Dave saw it, he said "good evening" n told a security guy to pick me off, n to call his wife ... but he didn't be agresive or violent at all. He was right, a crazy guy in the same situation could have been dangerous. A great moment for me ... but no pen for autograph, no camera ... all is in my head.

i was at that show. i got there as opeth was playin. me and my buddies were yellin at those fags the whole time to play some real fuckin metal. lamb of god and megadeth were sick as fuck tho
Yeah dave is kinda an asshole, slayer and like a ton of other bands don't like him. Oh well at least he makes good music lol! I got to see Overkill though, that was fuckin cool. Personally i think lamb of god had the best performance out of everyone though!
He was just rude. I said thanks for the autograph (which we pretty much paid for by having to buy certain items to even get in the line) and he was like "whatever" and tossed my CD aside. I didn't expect him to be super nice but being rude when I thanked him kind of ruined the experience for me.
