  • Find renewable energy jobs at Envirocruit

  • what is the name of that place at 0:53?

  • not even going to look below the top comments because i know all there is going to be is comment spammers trying to convince themselves that global warming is not real.

  • it is a neverending source, but not a stabile source, also, the energy that reaches us in a certain amount off time is limited

it has to move the winds and the sea. if we use this energy to warm up homes, the wind and the sea will not have that energy this will have some imnpact on the ecosystem as well

not if 50 homes are warmed up, but what about 1 billion homes whit a PC and some industry on the sides?????

    it is limited.

  • Point of use solar in the VAST built environment is cheaper, faster and generates more local economic benefits while protecting our intact desert ecosystems and nation's cultural legacy.

  • If the focused rode of light concentrator is a coaled photovoltaic cell, the concentrated light at night can converted to electricity as well.

  • check out the video thats on my fave list. its also about solar renewable energy.

  • EXCELLENT VIDEO !!!!!!! I LIKE THE INSTRUMENTAL. TERA1320 CYBERPUNK EXTRODINAIRE !!!!!!!!

  • Solar is inefficient, expensive and doesn`t even come close at matching Coal or Oil/Natural Gas in anything except CO2 emissions (It doesn`t beat Nuclear in anything). Perhaps in another 50 years the technology will improve to actually make a dent but not know.

More Nuclear plants are the way to go. Zero CO2 emissions and 95 percent uptime. Not to mention each reactor can generate 1000 MW. Of course you have nuclear waste but energy generation is not free.

  • @Allante715 Energy generation IS free. it is free from the sun. "of course you have nuclear waste"... and other problems/disasters. solar tech is improving at exponential rates. it is affordable now. there is no negative with solar!!

  • @kepsteen

Negative. Solar is intermittent and even during the day, it still varies depending on cloud cover and season. It also is inefficient and requires massive amounts of land to come close to a comparable capacity coal plant (not factoring in the fact Coal runs 24/7, Solar: not so much). The demand for electricity does not end when the sun goes down, or when the sky is cloudy. Solar does not solve any of the worlds growing energy needs. Sorry

  • @Allante715

Triple Negative. The sun might not be out all the time for us to directly extract energy from it. But i guess thats why storage systems have been developed for when the sun goes down. Furthermore we would use these technologies in conjunction with ALL the other renewable resources in our environment ( Hydro, wind, geothermal etc). That being said, I see no reason for us to continue extracting energy from dirty, polluting coal out into the 21st century

  • @11clemmi

Wind and Solar do not even make enough energy throughout the day to keep up with demand let alone store energy. Well Unless you devote the entire land mass of Nevada and Arizona for solar farms. Utilities need to work on getting scrubbers on all Coal plants. They remove 99 percent of what makes coal dirty with CO2 being the only byproduct. Then you can work on real green ideas, like Nuclear Fusion.

  • @Allante715

Bud there is 10 000 times more sunlight that reaches the earth than the sum of all our civilizations consume. What do you know? covering a desert would do the trick for supplying the entire planet out into the foreseeable future. Concentrated photovoltaics tech alone promises to boost efficiency by 50%. Coal, petrol natural gas, these are all old technologies that are outdated and dirty!

  • @Allante715 This no problem at all, the components of oil gas and coal are stored sun millions of years ago. The problem is a dumb, greedy, Humans, and nothing more. we are still way to primative to act with this much sense,

  • @mrduffy1100

Ol` yes, it just has to be greed and stupidity, the answer is just so simple. I guess the reason those stupid utilites havent adopted more wind and solar is because of greed, not because of the low capacity factors, massive land required and initial capital costs. God forbid a utility provide electricity 24/7 without blackouts and at a reasonable price. God forbid!

Damn greed! We could also have 200mpg generators and perpetual motion machines. Stupid greed

  • @Allante715 For fuck sake. Men on the moon. Trips to Mars, a multitrillion dollar war to secure more 'drugs', DNA being decoded, what else..... Solar = liquid hydrogen. solar = electricity for hydro water pumping. Solar = molten salt. Solar on houses. then there is the same for wind, etc

There are other options, but the money wasnt/isnt there to sort out the details The world is run by the oil/weapons boys, and they are not ready for cheap clean renewables; its just human nature.

  • @mrduffy1100

My suggestion to you: Join Greenpeace. They need people like you!

  • @Allante715 Try doing something for the children. You've enjoy a lifestyle that is unparalled in Human history, Try putting a tiny bit back, even for your childrens sake. What is your problem, are you American??

  • @mrduffy1100

Good Lord you are smug. I believe the future is in the power of the atom not unproven, unreliable technologies that self-righteous environmentalists applaud without any understanding of the basics of how utilities produce and distribute electricity reliably and without blackouts to millions if not billions of people worldwide. Get off your damn highhorse!

  • @Allante715 Fusion up to now does not work. It may but so far its not. Iam an electricician by trade, I ran my own business. I worked for a university and in industry (electronics), and was involved with and I also know some phycology and lots about Human history. You have an attitude which is very familiar to me, and it is Humanity who is on its 'high horse'. We had it too good to long, and many dont even know it. Until fussion works, this is the way to go, along with conventional as a back up.

  • @mrduffy1100

The power of the atom is referring to either Nuclear Fission or Nuclear Fusion. Fission now until Fusion becomes a reality. Truth be told, a diverse portfolio of Nuclear, Oil, Gas, Coal, and Renewables is the way to go.

  • @mrduffy1100

    Secondly,

Just seems very few realize the giant leaps Coal and Gas have achieved over the course of 100 years. Gas fired turbines in a combined cycle are very efficient and clean. Increases in boiler material, that allow for higher temperatures and turbine efficiency have made Coal more efficient and scrubbers have made them cleaner. For baseload power, nothing beats Nuclear, Coal and Natural Gas.

  • @Allante715 Yes, I hear what you are saying about efficiency and new technology. countries should not burn off all natural souce reserves, and all the biproducts that are vital for other stuff. Nuclear as far as I know has a finite supply of material that is not going to last as energy demand increases, and ofcourse there is the potential for accidents as history tell us, (and the waste). the other issue is the spector of climate change. Sweden I believe is going totally renewable.

  • @mrduffy1100

From what I know Sweden is about 46/50 hydro/nuclear with wishes to phase out nuclear in the very near future. Solar is impossible so they are going to expand their wind operation or try other alternatives. What will probably end up happening is Sweden will import more and more of their power from other nations as making up the 50 percent gap will be awfully hard and very expensive.

    Good Luck!

  • @Allante715 I think that local generation, ie roof solar, etc, and conservation will help also. Not sayin there wont be difficulties, and electricity need to imported by some countries. What they are doing is amazing though, and it is the way forward. A vast solar plant in northfrica is interesting, as is new tidal power. Huge amount of untapped potential.

  • @mrduffy1100

Yes but I still think we really need to wait until the initial capital cost of solar is reduced, which is going to happen. Most families simply cannot afford a 50,000 USD 6.5kW system installed on their home (This is how much it costs in the states).

I don`t support forced renewable percentages such as those Scotland has installed. I think the technologies need to grow slowly so they can identify potential problems and increase efficiency. Slow and steady wins the race.

  • @Allante715 wait?, theat is an economists veiw of the world. We should have been developing and subidising renewables years ago, instead of resource wars and collateral deaths in foreign countries. The way we live these days is a insulte to our ancestors and makes a mockery of the illusion we call civilization. Most families could get together with others and do some of the work to make it happen if instructed. A war like spirit if you like! with government help, production cost could half.

  • @mrduffy1100

Insult to our ancestors and makes a mockery of the illusion we call civilization?

You have to be kidding me, honestly. They would be proud at the progress we have made. I guess you would rather live in a log cabin, burning wood and having your relatives die of Cholera, Tuberculosis and Dysentery. Wow, comments like that are ridiculous to say the least. Your utopia views are nothing but pipe-dreams with no connection with the real world.

  • @Allante715 ...I just think governments should be spending on securing the fundementals of our civilization as a priory. There are poor and thats a fact who cant afford stuff, but there is also alot of money around used to buy piles of energy consuming junk. China and india will start exporting cheap green technologies to the struggling dinasaur west, which I cannot help but find funny. In scotland we want to get onto renewables in a big way and most of us we see it as something very positive.

  • @mrduffy1100

China and india will start exporting cheap green technologies to the struggling dinasaur west?

While they continue to use Coal and LOADS of it in addition to natural gas. Why not profit on the dreams of the bankrupt west? Great idea. China and India will soon obliterate the post-industrial west. Whoever controls the manufacturing of goods controls the world. The west abandoned manufacturing and will pay the price in the near future if not already. Unemployment and Bankruptcy!

  • @Allante715 Yep, they are certainly using lots of gas and coal in China and India. If the west as I've said before had sorted out its energy questions years ago, the west would be exporting and leading renewables, and not being concerned and now competing for rescoures, jobs, etc and now it is in danger of becoming dianasaur.

  • @mrduffy1100

Would be exporting and leading renewables? How do you know, can you predict the future. Renewables do not pay for themselves, they require billions in government subsidies to survive. They are impractical until they find a way to dramatically cut costs in the production of solar and wind turbines. Even with that, unless a country devotes the entire land mass of Arizona and Nevada, a country will not be able to sustain themselves. Renewable are inefficient and produce little energy

  • @Allante715 ... The problem is as you can see the fustration of people like me being a silly tree hugging greeny, the west is becoming a 'old, heavy smoker', and that was the peoples choice!, thats what they wanted, voted for and aspired too, and bought into. China and India as set to take over- as you have stated, and that is economics in a free market economy-get used to it, its what YOU wanted.

  • @mrduffy1100

Old Heavy Smoker? Our industry is practically gone, departing to China and the east. What does the US or the UK make anymore? You make very little sense. The real heavy smoker is China and India as they lack any real forms of environmental laws or basic emission regulations and they make a good deal of consumable products.

Perhaps you should put your money where your mouth is and quit buying Chinese made products. You would do more then simply typing cliche dogma.

  • @Allante715 Sorry friend, I think you are interpreting my words incorrectly. Try reading Scientific American, and New scientist, they are written by the science community. Other than that, just wait and see.

  • Solar energy has in recent times become a popular method of generating power. Here the energy from the sun is converted into electricity. The United States is working on a number of renewable energy projects that promote the development of solar power. The wind and solar industries are projected to triple in 10 years and employ 2.6 million people. Companies such as Pacific Crest Transformers are working with the renewable energy market.

  • Very nice. SOlar energy is definitely going to pave the way to our future energy needs.

  • ah. this music reminds me of Nujabes . . .

  • Watching this video was like crystal-gazing—the future suddenly seemed very clear.

  • Great video! Solar Power will become a great energy resource in the future! Here in Hawaii - we have lots of sun and many people are choosing wind turbines, and solar panels as a great alternative to oil, coal and natural gas! Clean energy is the future of the world! See pristinesun . com/what-we-do.html for information on how to save 20% on your electrical bill every month & get solar panels installed for free for your business or non-profit co. in any state in US! Aloha & Mahalo! AJ

  • born alone die alone, no matter who ya man is/ hope he live long enough to tell it to his grand kids/!!!!!!

  • I invented a breakthrough source of energy which violates the law of conservation of energy. I have a PROOF that there are electrodynamic phenomena which violate the law of energy conservation. Making a 6 kW generator will cost $1200 in mass production, value of energy produced yearly $5400.

I am looking for $300 000 for a prototype and $3M for patents.

  • YouTube recommended this video. This technology would work great in the desert. The desert is not very populated and does not compete with food land.

    E-T

  • The sun dos'nt really give out that much energy, And to have solar energy panels on Planet Earth probably is'nt the future, when a star explodes it sprays out much energy, NASA thought they could have special satellites out in space that received the energy, but they figured out that if they start with it the earth will give a end.

    Forgive my English

  • We couldn't agree more, solar is the future! Please feel free to leave a comment or send a message we are very open to networking and sharing ideas!

  • Nice vid great track too who's it ?

  • Solar energy has come a long way now, but i still see some problems with solar energy that, well, cannot be solved, and one of this problems is dependebility, what happens when you dont have direct sunlight for 3 or more days straight, where are you going the get the energy if solar is thi only thing you are depending on, also the storage for this energy, battey technology isnt to the task just yet.

  • Great video. The biggest advantage of taping the sun's energy for the generation of electricity is that it greatly reduces our dependence on fossil fuels. It is estimated that the world's total energy consumption will increase by 30% in the following decade and hence developed nations are taking serious steps to enable the switch from conventional energy sources to renewable energy sources. Transformer company, Pacific Crest Transformers has more on the role of solar energy on their website

  • C'mon man Hugo Chavez needs more to buy weapons of mass destruction from the russians before you stop buying oil from him, show some consideration for this great leader of the world poor!

  • I REALLY REALLY hate Wasting time in Clicking and then getting a Completely Useless piece of crap misscalled Video as a result.

  • Great video...I converted my home to a net-zero solar powered home that uses no oil or gas...I made a video about it called, "Preparing for Peak Oil"....

  • Solar Panels are better than nuclear, even though they are more costly to manufacture per kilowatt, cause more pollution from the materials that go into construction, generate barely any electricity, depend on unpredictable clear skies, and ruin landscapes.

  • im starting a solar business. this is the best time to do this. i can only hope that gas prices and energy prices go up. lol

i dont think global warming will do it alone.

  • I think solar power is better than wind power; wind can have health affects and is bad for migrating birds. If the money that has gone into oil and coal was used for innovations with solar, we would have a different world.

I also think that energy shouldn't be commodified. That sounds commie, but it would get the greed factor out of the industry.

    Just an opinion...

  • solar can be placed in the deserts. deserts are heaven for solar power. they also dont have risk of killing off animals. solar is definitely better then wind. and wind is better then oil, coal, natual gas which are very finite and lots of polution.

  • decentralization = good for freedom, not commie (commie=centralization)

i'd rather have local wind=solar & own land rather than depend on some distant power station monopoly

  • the best alternative energy is small home renewable energy in other words energy created buy renewable sources in our own home

  • @dzgfdg Agreed. Let your children power a turbine. When they're worn out make another few!

  • @dzgfdg

  • @dzgfdg a personal way, not a societal way..... I see

  • @dzgfdg I see houses being built now that could but dont have solar preinstalled on the roofs. Pathetic humans.

  • Solar energy has the capacity to meet 15% of US electricity by 2020. People are adopting alternate energy methods like solar and wind power for the electricity supply. As energy demands increase, markets for these sources will only grow. Pacific Crest Transformers has articles on the renewable energy sector in the United States.

  • dope beat

  • Now they need to shut down the oil business.

And make some more of those nice solar pannels.

  • 100 % agree

  • dammet i wish that my house ran on solar. or atleast some kind of clean renewable.

  • You said it. I think solar power is the greatest source we have that is not used enough.

  • A better alternative than solar energy?

  • Comment removed

  • I built my own Solar Panels for under $100 which are currently powering my 1700 Square Foot home using the plans at:

    ambigrid-review.blogspot(DOT)com

  • To get solar energy 24/7, I thought of having the huge solar cellls build outer space, point the electric power back to earth using Nicola Tesla's method without wire to a fixed point back on earth. Satalites use solar energy all year long without refueling. Please comment. TQ.

  • That's truly amazing! I slashed my electric bill in half! look here: solar.xfollow.me (Copy to your browser's address bar)

  • These don't need to turn the deserts into a vast dust bowl, no! And turning it into a giant black field (of PV) is obviously a no no. Using billions of post driven COOL mirrors (without the need to bulldoze) is the final solution to UNLIMITED SOLAR thermal power with heat storage.

The Sterling Energy System's proven concept does not store heat BUT is twice as efficient! Maybe bat's or H2 could then be cost effective means? CSP (however designed) provides more jobs than oil!

  • and great video by the way :)

  • Nicola Tesla's vision will become true:

    Free enregy for all.

no more enregy dictatorships/rising fuel and gas prices linked to oligarchs and Big Oil conglomerates.

Oil is death (wars and a dying environment) people unite against all this and produce your own energy and make money out of it.

  • Oil and coal are one form of stored solar energy converted from plant and animals to a handy fuel source. All we have to do is pump it out of the ground and refine it.

  • I wish we could flag slide shows... this is not really a video.

  • has images and has music, how is it not a video show?

    video = images changing

This is just a really sucky show with images changing that even a kid with add would find hard to follow

  • u didnt find any other place 2 post ur spam?

  • I personally think we should keep subsidizing oil companies so that the price of oil keeps going up. Wait a minute, isnt subsidizing supposed to artificially bring prices down? Also, I think we need to speed up the process of global warming and continue running up our debt to help that great Saudi Royal family, Hugo Chavez, and all those great people from whom we get most of our oil from. Who's with me other than John McCain?

  • ME ME. I hope that extreme inequality and material greed will continue to drive our civilization into the next millennium, that way, we can be sure that nobody will ever taste what it means to be truly free. By the way, partisan politics belongs in this world just as much as the aforementioned virtues.

  • @BikiniBabe1985

Don't blame Hugo Chavez or the Saudis, the price of oil is set by speculators on world markets, not by OPEC.

Old rich white men are why a tankful of gasoline costs so much, and old rich white men are why you still drive a gasoline car.

  • Good vid.

Who makes the giant flat mirror at 12seconds?

  • this is shit!!!!!!!!

  • Good music

  • OMG you can no longer post a comment with out it being edited by the man
