Joking aside yeah I love when things are musically out there but just as you stated it still needs to work within some parameters. I love Jimmy Herring like in Jazz is dead, and Aquarium rescue unit. It doesn't really get too much more out there than Hybrid jazz scales but it still is melodic and awesome, though off the wall.
