  • I just picked up this game recently.

    4:18

Just curious, when Litchi players move the rod, midair, while cornering someone, what purpose does that serve?

Can they not keep the combo going without moving the rod?

  • does manakan still play as litchi in continuum shift, or would he feel guilty about using a top tier character?

  • I wish there was a big neon sign over CS Litchi players that would let us know if they were originally a Litchi user in CT or if they're just a tier whore.

  • I think about buying that game

How many characters are in this game? Is it worth to fight against the AI? Does it support an online mode with strangers? (sorry for bad english)

  • @TaliaTxT There's only 12 characters, but they're all different from each other. It's worth fighting them when the difficulty is set at Hell mode. And yes, you can play online with strangers.

  • @KyoPwnsU thanks i will buy it 100% :D

  • I personally dont think it is a good idea to say that a country will define the players whether it be Japan or the U.S.. However, I am aware that Japan will most likely be more consisten with better players, for one, the Japanese culture takes games more seriously while America sorta still views at as an immature past time, secondly and most important of all Japan has a thriving arcade scene, they get the game 8 or 9 months in advance, and at least a mont before us when it hits consoles

  • 4:30 was a crazy backdash

  • The Litchi player in this was top notch, but the competition wasn't so great from what I could see. The Noel user seemed to be the best of the bunch. The Ragna and Tager both looked horrible. Although, it could just be that they looked horrible in comparison. I'd have to take em on myself to really judge that.

  • The opponents were all the same skill level compared to Manakan, seems pretty obvious from what's going on in the matches.

  • How did you come to that conclusion? Most of them were defeated fairly easily. Noel is generally a tough match for Litchi, and that could explain the difficulty that occured while fighting against her. But to say that they are all of equal skill level seems a bit of an exaggeration.

  • Because you have to look at why they were defeated easily...for instance, who got the momentum from a knockdown, and then put the opponent into a situation where it was difficult for them to come back(Litchi has very good pressure mixups)

At this level of play, just because someone beats another one by a big margin, doesn't mean they are better. Over a period of many games, these players all beat each other pretty evenly.

At the time, Yumura was a very good Tager player (though not the best).

  • yeah, and, i looked up some of his matches and he lost 4/5 videos that i've just watched...... so yeah, we don't need to go praising this Naru god if he isn't even that great....

  • Naru losing, doesn't mean much about his actual skill. You should like...actually analyze the choices he makes in the matches, the choices the opponents make, and what he won/lost.

I didn't say he was a god, but he is a very high level player.

  • yeah, uh, Americans can actually stand up to the "other races" cuz there's this one guy from texas who completely schooled a Japanese dude in a money-involved tourney....... and that japanese dude was the "best" out of his team..... please don't talk about us as if we suck or something......

  • who is this "Japanese dude"?

Americans are completely outmatched by the Japanese in this game, the only one that stands a decent chance is HeartNana

  • i would tell you but i feel that if i did, you would just wave it off. americans are not outmatched by the japanese (nor the french) in fact, saying that is like saying that kaqn is the best ragna. one can't prove it, and it probably isn't true. gosh, how many americans have u played that didn't just get the game a day ago?

  • Lol? How much do you actually follow the scenes in both the US and Japan? My claim isn't from the Americans I have fought, it's from following the top players from both countries in tournaments (and casuals). Even by the top players in the US, it is an accepted fact that the Japanese outmatch the US...

I suggest actually following the scenes and studying the gameplay.

Oh and Kaqn was accepted as the best Ragna at the time, though things might have changed now.

  • BlazBlue: Serious motherfucking business.

  • wow, you've got to be joking!!!

do you even KNOW who those "top" players are??? they're not what you think.... the best players from the US don't enter tourneys, ya know that, right? it's like an unspoken fact around here.

  • You don't know anything about the fighting game scene, you're just embarassing yourself now.

Yes, it is possible to be good without entering tourneys, but it is a pretty well known fact that the best US players are in fact, tourney players...who are these "top players" that you are mentioning?

  • i like the way you talk about me. heck, i embarass myself all of the time. it can be refreshing.

and, i trust that you are an educated adult, yes? you yourself should know that the best players in the US DO NOT enter the tourneys. the top-notch guys out there are not hard to find; they're simply not easy to find. and i hope i am not angering you in any way. i just see beyond the "facts".

  • How would I know that? Tell me, who are these players that you are talking about, which are better than US players such as Mike Z and Heartnana? And even better, to be on the level of the Japanese?

  • these guys are "close to home" around my places. they don't go by names like Mike Z and stuff cuz they don't have accounts and such.

  • @unjuiced um. no, its not

  • @Emillll

I get the impression your comment is a little biased. Mainly because when you are talking about pro/tourny players and then make a statement like the JAPANESE OUT Match Americas is pretty ridiculous. You can't state a country of people vs. a country of people as if all japanese that play blazblue are much much better than american players. Tourny's Don't speak for a country or populous no matter how awesome the top players are.

  • There isn't really anything biased. Not only are the best Japanese players better than the best American players, but the majority of average Japanese players are better than the best American players. There isn't really any question whatsoever that Japan destroys the US in BlazBlue.

  • @Emillll

Still not an accurate statement because the total number of people who play 2d fighters especially deep ones like BlazBlue compared to the population of american players is much much higher so it's still inaccurate to lump Americans together as if somehow living in this country means your not going to measure up to japan. It's bias and wrong

  • You're arguing something else now...about whether being in a specific country, automatically means you won't measure to Japan. And honestly yes, the American mentality is not the same as Japan's, so they already have an advantage in that sense but that isn't even related to what you were initially talking about.

Also the comment about Japan being better than the US applies to almost every single fighting game, not just BlazBlue, except MvC2 (which is hardly played in Japan).

  • And there's nothing wrong with saying that a certain country beats another one at a specific game...not much different than saying that China dominates over the US in gymnastics, as the olympics results show.

Right now it looks like the people that are arguing against Japan being better, actually don't follow the fighting game scenes at all, and are probably feeling their ego hurt when they are told that some other country blows their own country out of the water.

  • @Emillll

You're also talking about a very niche game that is completely Anime Themed and appealing to larger japanese audiences, so who's to say what kinds of potential great players could be in the states just not playing BlazBlue

  • Most people just do not know how to use burst period.. and its rare for a great online user to actually use burst at all.. unless the match is close. Oh and that Ragna sucked period...

  • That Ragna(Naru) is an extremely good player, that can easily beat everyone in the US. Look up his other matches before you comment on him.

  • Mike Z pwns all americans

  • @Emillll

Sorry, but if he played like that I'm sure any decent American player could beat him, including myself.

I don't know if he just had a bad day or something but he was dropping combos and making retarded mistakes the entire match.

  • @9:15 ..and that's why you don't use 13 Orphans on a downed Tager player.

  • Nha, it's just that litchi didn't jump back as she should'v.

  • The way that Bang moved around, you'd think he was in Super mode... or maybe I just haven't seen that many talented Bangs.

  • That was slick at 5:06.

  • idk if this is arcade mode or something weird, but wtf don't people burst...like seriously....half of my game is won because people get pissed off @ litchi's insane combo potential and pre-maturely burst

  • They do burst...they just know when to do it.

  • i really wish i can just mute bangs voice!

  • bang wishes he could mute your voice.

  • The characters talk WAY too much, you're right. You can mute them in the console verison.

  • the round with noel btw haah

  • Dude, 2nd round for litchi...just me, or she didn't barrier burst...??? Dude, gotta know when to bust that shit out....

  • she was getting annoying with that repetitive combo

  • she was getting really annoying with that repetitive combo.

  • Luv me some Litchi! ^.^

  • Litchi combos looks very very elegant

also looks like a pain to pull out

  • Proration also eats most of their output, so it feels like a lot of work for mediocre reward.

  • Poor Tager.

  • Tager just gets pwn'd by every character T_T

    poor bear

  • Bear? Lol!

  • manakan pwned everyone? i might need to jump back online....

  • TE is square gate Sanwa JLF.

  • What did he do at 8:23?

  • a counterattack. If you have at least 50 heat, while they are attacking you, input A+B will knock them away. However, I think Noel runs behind them and Arakune does something else as well

  • thanks

  • counter assault

  • Look, at howmuch WORK Litchi has to do to shed a respectable amount of Damage, and most characters this Litchi fighter has gone against do little to nothing and already take 1/4 of Health.

  • um you do know that Bang has the worst damage in the game RIGHT!?

  • I wasn't basing my point on Bang. More like Tager..., Noel perhaps?

  • i thought carl had the lowest damage

  • He has the highest damage in the game.

  • also whats the staff twirl at 8:12

  • how do you do the low staff toss that follows df4

  • Wrong, it's a square gate.

It's a sanwa JLF stick with sanwa buttons...

  • its all up to u to decide, I suggest playing each character seeing which one you like then decide bcuz no one can make that decision for you. its all depends on what u like

  • it was my first time playing this..and i have to say its pretty easy, only the direction combos are hard for me, other than that it's really fun to play...^^

  • Question, i'm a newbie when it comes to fighting games. Does it require godly skill to pull of these combos? Well to make the question short , Is this game newbie friendly?

  • No it's not because there is not only a lot of memorization in the combos (once you memorize though, they aren't too hard), but there are many different situations to look out for...it can be overwhelming to a fighting game beginner.

  • Learning and making your own combos? Nah, not really. Most of the characters actually have a fairly easy combo or two that you can do by pressing the attack buttons in a particular order. A>B>C, for example, is a basic combo for most of the cast. You could say that comboing is as easy as learning your alphabet... There are also tons of resources for combos on the internet, and a little practice and a few days with the command list should be all you need to have fun.

    Matchups can be tough.

  • Its not that hard, most importantly its fun. I agree with Emilll it can be overwhelming for a beginner to the fighting genre, but its only a game dude like all games there is a learning curve everybody was beginner at one point and look at how zeus like they are at the game now ha ha.

  • V-13

  • that was some good shit

  • Dominate OCV by Man... ouch.

  • combo at the beginning of the 2nd round by Litchi is awesome. That 2B into the 6B fake is sexy. lol

  • looks like a sick game

  • nice combos

  • is the guy using litchi human i mean he only have 2 hand like the rest of us

    anyway

    AWESOME

  • Why's everyone talking crap about the Tager anyways?

I fail to see how the Ragna did better...

Epic matches vs Shadow and Gucci though. Makes me wanna learn Litchi XD

  • Damn.

  • Tager really needs slide head though... would make him a lot better. How to do it without copying GG though? :D

  • THE best Litchi i've ever seen.

  • Man, that was an amazing set of matches. Manakan is ridiculously good. I wish I knew how to set up combos like that. Outside of Distortion Drives, the most I average in combos in 6 to 8 hits.

  • lol, that is *one* of the better Tagers in the world (not the best though).

  • ...

What do you mean "do better"? You need to watch videos more closely - look at what the opponents are doing and why the Tager was actually losing.

All of these players are elites, there are some matches where they totally blow out their opponents and other matches where they get blown out by the same player. How is that the same thing as you happening to not lose as bad to someone that probably didn't know what he was doing anyway.

  • Yeah and you're playing peeps like Manakan and Shadow everyday right? ...

Some of the Tager's in Osaka are freakin nuts as well.. First hand experience! ;D

  • Still doesn't change the fact that he pretty much was a punching bag through the rounds

when one plays as Tager you should always remember your attacks can punch through most abilities and your grabs can devastate

& also remember you got the moving speed of a turtle (his charge attack & sledge can help close the distance)

he had a few chances where he could cancel and do his special attack but seems pointless saying this now.either way vids like these help for training

  • That's just the nature of BB, I'm afraid and especially of the likes of Tager and Potty in GG. The startup on most of Tagers normals is really poor bar his A. Deffo one of the lower tier characters. If he's playing at Gamechariot though, you can g'tee he's an amazing player despite what you see in these videos.

  • does blazblue revolve around canceling a lot like guilty gear? I mean is their like a roman-canceling mechanic in blazblue?

  • Yes. It's called Rapid cancelling in BB though.

  • Wow litchi combos are beautifull

  • Game is perfect. Give it a whirl.

  • The match versus Noel was insane!

  • i dunno what to think about this game. looks cool, but i dunno whats happenin

  • it's out yet?

  • yup

  • that litchi player is good... hmm...

  • that giant robot guy got pwned

  • is this a ps3 exclusive or for XBOX to?

  • it's on the xbox, i mean you see the themes and gamerpics everytime you go on the marketplace.

  • i only shop bestbuy/gamestop

  • target has some awesome deals sometimes too.

  • There is an Xbox 360 version as well, the one I'm on

  • i don't really like 360's contrller for fighting games, the d-pad feels weird to say the least.

  • You're right, but Live for online play, is significantly superior (not to mention all of my friend have a 360, and not all a PS3 =P, otherwise I'd get the other version)

  • ah ic. well then, 360 version is way more fun for you.

  • yeah...the d-pad makes BB hell, especially since the gameplay is insanely blistering fast.

But I am mentally incapable of using the analog stick in fighting games... *sigh*...ranked is hell

  • thus I just ordered an arcade stick from amazon @ 39.99, that should make things a bit easier xD

Im gonna try to main carl and sub rachel, since they seem the hardest to use proficiently.... :)

  • Going from a d-pad to a stick has a pretty big learning curve. You'll probably encounter a lot of problems starting out with the stick. It'll pay out in the long run though.

I bought my own stick. Mine was $199.99 though xD. It's the BlazBlue limited edition one from Japan.

Carl's fighting literally revolves around doing one combo. As for Rachel, prepare to get owned online. If you and the opponent don't have great connections, then input lag will absolutely destroy you.

  • How can Carl's fighting revolve around doing one combo? You need to find ways to land that one combo, and those ways would be what Carl's fighting revolves around...

  • 199.99 for a stick? good googly moogly....well, hope it's worth it ^^

As for carl....1 combo? really? Bah, sounds a bit boring....

Rachel...well, she does seem a bit lacking on the defense....

I was gonna use V-18 but then I read she is pretty cheap with her long distance combos...so I basically gave her up...

    I feel hopeless all of a sudden...lol

  • Me too. lol It's basically a modded HRAP stick. Main reason I'm buying it is that it's an official BlazBlue stick.

That's just what I heard on Dustloop. You can still try him out if you want.

It's not really a problem with defense. She's considered top tier, but input lag is a problem. I've met many a Rachel user who had to stop using her because input lag was destroying them.

I hate fighting V-13. Her long distance swords are hard to block and they keep you from advancing.

    I'm a Jin user.

  • Used to be a ice car spammer. I stopped doing that when I found out how it was bad and that it was ineffectual online. I already felt comfortable with him though, so I focused on just doing well using his character. I'm still not that good, but I'm within the top 0.8% of Jin users in terms of rankings :D

    Makes me feel proud(kinda).

  • carl is the hardest char in the whole game, ever.Definitely for experienced players.

and he has more than 1 combo, of cos. 3 main ones actually.

v-13 is beginner frenly, easy to pick up. Some might say shes "cheap", but v-13 has low hp. You cannot spam her long distance comboes w/o thinking, a good player will counter and punish you, hard.

  • Well, can't you just pick up a Madcatz TE for like $150? That's SF4 themed, but it's supposed to be a GREAT stick.

  • ooo ok. I saw in a PS magazine it was a exclusive a year ago

  • Shadow is good but his execution is nowhere near as good as Doras. He's missing random tiger knee/JC 623B etc

  • wn la mina se los culio a todos

  • LOL at 10:53. Ragna's like "Aww, my nutts!" xD

  • 3:23 psychic

  • ive never seen Tager get raped so badly

  • No. It's suppose to be Rebel.

  • Because, It is spelled as Rebel, silly. Also, the english game play has been out already and it is still Rebel.

  • your your a dumbass

  • You is a fucking noob worrying about the lady what she saying

  • lol, ya i was like wtf? but now i got use to it and its funny and fun to imitate it.

  • yea its different but new ^.^ change never hurts! Guilty Gear they say Heaven or Hell LETS ROCK!

  • Its is REBEL Dumb ass

  • at 4:49 that looks like something from melty blood.

  • Man go play some spamming SF2 which thats SF4

  • what u sayin boy?

  • YOU HEARD ME BOY!!! You are a FUCKING IDIOT!!!

  • i'm talking about the SF comment fool, lol. NO SCREAMING (CAPS) ALOUD! QUIET ZONE!!!

  • taking notes, esp since I want to Main Litchi as well.

  • is game going to have online

  • yes it is.

Manakan's Litchi is probably the best Litchi out there right now. These matches were really good highlighting the best of each character.

  • Lol @ Shadow being anywhere near the best Bang. He's not even a good Bang!

Your point more or less stands otherwise, though.

  • lol @ a 16 year old american stating Shadow isn't a good Bang player. Shadow is an insanely good Bang. Dora may have surpassed him now since Shadow switched but he's still a godly Bang player.

  • your a fuckhead shadow to me isn't the best but hews runner up to 1st

  • games on ps3 or xbox360 must have online features.

so all fighters on those two will contain online play. plus graphics has to be in HD. explain the reason 2d sprites have changed lol

  • I highly doubt online play or HD graphics are REQUIRED, but they certainly help the sales figures of games that have them.

  • Litchi rampage

  • 0_0

  • 0_0 is right, that's a skilled Litchi!

  • Manakan Love.

  • nice to see litchi get some love. great games

  • i know right
