music taste depends on many things, first of all age. i don't know how old is wargrave but i think he was a teenger between the '60 and the '70. if we ask a teenager today about the best album ever, answers will be completely different. in second place everyone has a fav genre, so someone could put metal, hip hop or jazz records in the top of the list. no one has a definitive answer, simply because it doesn't exist

I can't believe Bat Out Hell by Meatloaf isn't on anyones list! That album is freaking amazing! Everybody has way too much Beatles, Beach Boys, and Pink Floyd in the "best albums ever" lists. There needs to be more variety, the Beatles are beginning to be a little too overrated.

not a bad list- a bit reliant on mid-late 60's rock bands (I mean, really...the Byrds are cool, but...), and some of your choices outside the classic rock area are kinda questionable. But overall, not bad.

Joni Mitchell's BLUE and Hejira outshine all of these albums in terms of musicality, songwriting and expression. Without Blue there would be no Blood on the Tracks - even Dylan would admit this. Her influence on Led Zep is well reported and just about every woman who ever played a guitar or piano.

I think it's cool how many people know the album 'Surfs Up'. Brian Wilson was very creative. If someone viewing this has not listned to the album 'Pet Sounds" I would highly recommend it. The album is not the hamburger/soda pop music that some of the other Beach Boys stuff sounds like.

Alot of these are very well-worn for me, and Pet Sounds at the top!! Yes!! I feel that lists of great albums are unfairly slanted to artists that emerged in the mid 60s and beyond and released albums instead of singles as so many great soul, jazz, blues, early rock, and pop artists did. What about undeniably great artists who never released a definitively great studio album from front to back, such as Eric Clapton, the Four Tops, or Dusty Springfield? I guess that's another list.
