Bob is my cousin, great Canadian,great teacher and introduced me to the hip way back when.. He would later introduce me to the band in person. Bob rocks and I'm lucky to be part of the Watson bloodline. The Hip rocks!
Man, this footage is just unreal! Awesome!!! The first time I saw them was in Lethbridge Alberta in 1994 or 1995 right after the release of Day for Night. Such a killer band! This performance is so raw....love it!
@higgs17 Perhaps the cost of time travel will one day be within reach of mere mortals such as us and we, as our ancestors no doubt did millennia before, will once again be able to exchange body parts as currency.
The first time The Hip played my club they were a $400 band that still did some covers. We sat up having a few pops until 5 in the morning and became friends. The next day we were talking in the band room before the show. Gord asked me if I wanted to join them on stage for a song. I chose Last American. I sang with the band on several occasions until the boys had me choose another tune. I chose Trickle Down. The Hip remain some of the nicest guys I have ever met. Great guys, great band. Bob
@TheThevenue thats a great story bob; thanks for sharing it with us;
the hip were the best, i have so many great memories of their early days.... i saw the hip for the first time just a few months later at the shipyard in moncton...... to this day it is still the best show i have ever seen live and that was 20 years ago;
Darrel, thanks for providing the date of the show. And now there's one more burning question...any chance you could provide the setlist in order...or at least the portion you taped? Hope that's not too much too ask...inquiring Hipsters want to know! And regarding Bob Vancise...I think he might teach at my nephew's school. I wonder if his students are aware of his other talents?!?
ok - classic tune and scene...I had to quickly google Bob Vancine and perhaps he is a teacher? anywho, his mullet and his non plugged-in guitar performance makes him legendary in my eyes! classic.
He's the whole reason I was 'allowed' to tape most of the show. He asked if I would come and tape HIS performance and I asked if I could keep shooting.
is that bob vancise, vancise refrigeration?

Darrelmeister...inquiring Hipsters wan't to know...do you recall the exact date of this show?
jazzyjones10 2 years ago
I'm exporting "Boots and Hearts" (most of it) as we speak and you can see the date superimposed on the opening clip as I stand in line.
(recorded March 5, 1990)
