@johnknoefler your an idiot explain how freezing a lithium ion battery in a freezer is best for it? lithium ion batteries will do the same thing in cold weather as they will in hot weather. if not maintained properly they will over time lose there voltage and if not charged every once in awhile they will lock out. People use to put regular batteries in the freezer because they use to be made very poorly not anymore.
but you have not explain why it works.... are you mute? do you know have music at home at all....this video is patetic..u must explain why you did what you did.
@dchain99 the cold will kill any litium ion battery (which is the default type in the new laptops and cellphones) because the lithium batery fluid freezes at +4 and mechanicly extends and damages the battery.
@777fdam If they are rechargeable, then it should work. I've done that before, and it worked out okay. You cannot do it with Alkaline batteries because they'll most likely leak acid.
@ArashiStorm4Dream It could be that the battery is screwed up inside or something, because unless it hasn't been used for years, it should still be able to keep your computer running for at least a few seconds.
@ArashiStorm4Dream thats cuz it doesnt work. never put batteries in the freezer that will destroy the batteries not fix them. people use to put alkaline batteries in the fridge because a long time ago before they banned mercury it would stop them from leaking because it would harden the material inside. alkaline is made differently now they dont leak if anything bad happens its corrosion.
@jimmyb051051 Dufus. We put them in the freezer because it's like storing them. They don't decompose and discharge like when you leave them in a drawer for a year.
i can use my laptop, i can open it but i have to plug the AC Adapter because if i unplug it the laptop would die immediately.. will this help my batteries gain charge? or will it only increase the charge but after using will it go to not able to take charge??
I have a old laptop. I bought it in the year 2005. Oct 2010 i bought a new laptop. But then i still use my old one once or twice a week. I went on a 3 week vacation and when i came back home i booted up the two laptops. I noticed that the old laptop has 0% battery life and charging. After 3 hours i check it again and its still 0%!... Will this guide work? Btw im trying it now. Oh and the laptop is quite old that the CD-rom does not work and letter C and D wont work aswell. Thanks so much.
@mynameisstrider It's not a fake or trick. This truly works. I've done this to 4 batteries, and I've had good result with all of them. Plus, if you've got a battery that won't hold a charge and it's pretty much useless, then it can't hurt to give the freezer a try.
I'm confused: my Acer battery says it has full battery whenever I use it with a power cord but when I take it off and run it it only lasts for 5 minutes and when I boot it again it says there's 0% left. So does the freezer thing actually charge the battery or increase it's life? Or both?
@Icmer2CP Yeah, batteries that don't hold a good charge will still register as being charged up to 100%. That's because it is charged up to 100% of what it can hold. As batteries get older they don't hold as much power. The freezer doesn't charge the battery, but it should increase how much power the battery will hold. I would expect yours to increase to 25-50 minutes of usage. Also, as I tell many people, if your battery isn't working anyhow, then it can't hurt to try the freezer.
It didn't work for me. I had an LI battery which was completely dead, and this changed nothing. It didn't explode or anything, so maybe it works for certain cases.
@KatieMattock If your battery was completely dead, and wouldn't take any charge at all, then the battery could have a different problem. There could be something wrong with the circuit board inside the battery pack.
does this really work my laptop was buy 2 years ago 2009 and now 2011 my laptops battery just have an red x on it but it was fully charge i thought it was just ok temporary normal but when i remove my charger my 100% laptop battery became 99 98 and after 15 mins when i looked in my laptops charge was just 7% percent it just happend today 5/13/2011 1:02 AM if some one has done this and read my comments pls tell me dude's does ths work i need answers tell me if it works
@sorcerorsaprentice Putting batteries in the freezer has worked for me in the past, and as you can see from the comments on this video, it has worked for others as well. You know, it cant hurt to try it out if your battery's not working anyhow.
@collintheapplegeek im trying it now i hope it works thanks dude for uploading this video when i wacth it i thougth you are just kidding but when i saw all the likes all the comments good comments and all the
thank you i believe you now hope i works (= good luck to me
@jro9001 It's depends on the situation. If there's something wrong with the battery (internal batteries leaking, bad wiring, bad connectors etc...) then it will not work. If the battery was slowly loosing capacity until it stopped charging, then putting it into the freezer should help. If the battery is not working, then you have nothing to lose by trying the freezer trick. Hope this helps!
@randydecker It seems crazy to me that this would work, but I did it with my iBook G4's battery, and my PowerBook G4's battery, and it really works. I did that about 6 months ago, and the batteries are still giving me the same amount of usage time as when the came out of the freezer.

if it doesnt work, does it damages it?
should it be charged or empty when I get it in the freezer?
