for wipeout and wipeout xl/2097, the ps1 versions of the game are by FAR the best... i play the pc version of XL and it has some missing graphics and textures, even though it runs great

@Bammer2001 I tried it on DOSBox 0.7.4, but it doesn't work because there's not enough memory for sound.

An addition to previous comments about Wipeout on PSN - only get it if you want to be hacked via the world's weakest security software. Ill say the optimal experience is buying the original disc preowned.

@NukeMyHouse not really, apart from a demo of Wipeout 2097 that exists. However if you have an iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad, you can get "Low Grav Racer 2", which is brilliant and similar in gameplay.

@silvergunner2 fuck iphone and apple's high priced bullshit, if i had money i would have bought a ps3 and the wipeout game (its cheaper in total) just get it for android on any torrent downloading site or wtvr, or just buy it for like 0.99$ in android market (the original wipeout game not shit like low grav racer 2 )

@kujiko88 Unfortunately the first game is notorious for that, damn good games though these are. I've got the first for both the PS, as well as the Saturn, XL(PS) Wip3out(PS) Wipeout Fusion(which sucks) as well as Wipeout Pulse on the PSP. I can't wait until I get some more cash, totally going to snag Wipeout HD Fury for the PS3 in the next few weeks here.

Unfortunately this is the only PC version i've come across online. However a version did exist for the ATI Rage cards, and was bundled with Sony VAIO PCs. It supported higher resolutions and bilinear filtering (texture smoothing).

However, if you really want the Optimal Wipeout experience, get the Playstation version (its £3.99 on PSN). Either that, or get Wipeout HD. If you can stand the awful soundtrack, its probably the best Wipeout game you can get. Or wait for Wipeout 2097 to be on PSN.

@silvergunner2 Yeah, I know about Wipeout is on PSN, I've already got the PS1 version though and play it using the pSX emulator on the PC. What I was really looking for though is the version for the PC that uses 3D cards other than the RAGE card (I know it exists it's just I cam't find it anywhere). I'm not interested in the MS-DOS version as I want to be able to play the game in a higher resolution and with bi linear filtering/anti-aliasing on etc etc.

@CrAzYpOtHeAd420time there does exist a PS2 version of Wipeout Pulse, the second PSP edition (after Pure). The gameplay of HD is almost the same as Pulse, but you don't have to use the awful shoulder buttons built into the PSP.
