Quality video, unstable snow for sure. It has always made sense to me to be on belay (with a rope and harness, anchored to a tree) when you are on a suspect slope like this. Otherwise, it is dangerous to get on the slope that you suspect may be unstable, which is presumably where one is doing snow stability tests. "Upon stepping out of the pit, I caused a collapse with several cracks that propagated out 50 feet from my skis." Yikes!
Once you are on belay, then you can jump on the slope ;-).
