Keep em in hacking boxes that will do well like the sucess with Peregrine falcons and Bald eagles. These two species used to be Endangered so hacking is kinda good lets see what will happen with our philippine eagles if they were sent in hacking programs.
Instead of giving Pag-asa the meat directly, try throwing in the live prey for hunting. Maybe the raptor needs higher male hormone levels to produce more semen..
@ktyfiend - Natural pairing is also being use to breed eagles. The eagle is kinda anti-social there was an attempt before as documented at the eagle center in Davao they tried to introduce a male to a female eagle in the cage for possible pairing but the much larger and stronger female killed a male eagle twice and it's not good for a specie which is in the brink of extinction every single eagle counts.
Make a law that anyone, native or foreigner, who kills or captures a Philippine Eagle shall be penalized. Then advertise that law on TV, on print, on radio, on posters and on the government's website. Protect the forest too. Some corrupt politicians in Mindanao grab lands and destroy the forests there. This has to stop! The wealth of the forest is never meant to only benefit few influential families. The forest is for every Filipino, every bird, every beast who live and co-exist among us.
Unbelievable that such a beautiful creature is threatened with extinction... he is so beautiful! This really makes me sad. I assume EVERYTHING is done to at least double the population as soon as possible and AVOID THE RISK OF INBREEDING???
English is not their language, I hope you understand that some Groups in the Philippines prefers using their own language... is not that they are uneducated its because they are more nationalistic....
@rafaelcrisostomo - what I'm talking about is Natural pairing for "Captive breeding program".. They wont put together a male & female eagle in one cage for just a show.. NO sir!
It's for "Natural pairing!" So that the eagles would breed in a natural way even inside the cage!
There is NO such thing as contested fight among males during mating season as you were saying! the Philippine Eagle is monogamous. Once paired, a couple remains together for the rest of their lives unless one dies.
@dakinespam - They are using both natural and artificial pairing for breeding program... But natural pairing of eagles has some Disadvantage, every single eagle counts especially If they are critically endangered like the Philippine eagle..
There was an account where a male Philippine Eagle was introduced to a female Philippine Eagle; the larger female eagle easily killed the smaller male eagle and It happened twice! This is a major setback! they are trying to propagate the eagle's population
I like the way he wears all leather, thus allowing this Majestic Bird to perch on his head and poke at him on the arms. This keeper is allowing the Philippine Eagle to remain King of the roost. Good job also with eagle program!
there are so many islands in the Philippines i'm hoping that the actual numbers are not so bleak. Perhaps there are many more and it's just hard to know their exact numbers.
I've been coming to the Philippine Eagle Center for 2 weeks straight now. I love to visit the majestic Philippine Eagles at least once a month from now on. They are incredibly beautiful. I was just standing at the foot of Pag-asa's aviary this morning and just looking at him and admiring this beautiful bird completely took my breath away. It always does every time I visit them. It never gets old. Always a breath taking experience. Looking forward to seeing them again next week...
truly amazing eagle...their plight as an endangered species have to be known throughout the world...and we must do something, otherwise they will be extinct in the not so distant future.....it looks so regal......
u have no idea how much i am dying to see the biggest, but one the most beautiful eagle in the philippines. one of the most impressive eagle of the eagle family!
we must protect these animals it is for our future... this is the year for to wake up philippines and do something. i wish i can vote for the incoming election but i gave that up to become a US citizen.
iVuDang: Yes, ideally, the birds should be free, but out in the wild they are endangered because they are hunted, captured, or killed by people who don't know any better. The conservation work of the Phil Eagle Foundation involves educating locals about the importance of the eagle so they themselves will protect the eagle. It hasn't always been successful, but it's worth a try.
they are so beautiful. I can't imagine being a bird and being caged. They are meant to stretch their wings and roam freely in the sky with fresh air blowing by them.

Is it a bad idea to let the males and females get together in captivity? Are they that aggressive with each other?

The way Davaoeños speak bisaya is so different to the way Cebuanos speak. They speak it with a softer emphasis on the vowels.
