@TopFuelRc - That question has many different answers. Because it depends on what you are using the power system for. Most of the Novak brushless systems are sensored. This means they are much smoother on low end power than an unsensored motor so they are great for crawlers, or anywhere you need smooth power. Castle motors are mostly unsensored but have huge power and can do 6S lipo. So they are both great for different things.
@jetlag2222 i have a castle creations motor in my e revo right now but i am looking to start racing so what type of motor would you recommend to race with
wait you have a $300 spectrum. and the antena is that long.... lol whats up with that why is it still on there
and i have 2 e-maxxes and im realllllyyyy on the edge and choosing what bl system to get ive been reaserching. and i really want the tekin rx8 but the price isnt for me at all. and the mmm has the power i want and does the tekin
but HV pros are only $160 wich is great but i want standing backflip power
No. Tamiya connectors are completely unable to handle the power that current brushless systems put out. It melts them in half. literally. I use deans ultra connectors on most of my models.
its an honor to serve those who appreciate us .. iwouldnt have it any other way ... and thanks you for the outstanding videos... they help alot .. i just purchased a novak 7.5 wsith the 5mm bore. s im waiting on that .. i got my blue revo coming in on tuesady.. ill let yu know what goes on .. im thinking a getting a second spectrum receiver to put in ol blue .. i got one in my red revo .. it would be alot easier.. lol
hey jet chris here .. i have a erevo as well . well more like 2 e revos and a revo 3.3. i haad the twin titans but shelled in a mmm and castle in there infinite wisdom didnt see me the castle link so i could set my braking.. well duh. i used my radio for braking .. i went into travel and adjusted aaccordingly.. the mmm esc went FSSSST.. so i put my twin titans in .. well the motors let go one night both went up in smoke.. so i have a new e revo brushless coming while i wait for my mmm esc.. fun
By the way, I just read your last email. And I just wanted to say a BIG BIG THANK YOU to you and all the other guys and gals in our armed services that protect us. I appreciate what you guys do!!!
did u have heat issues with the stock e-revo i've had it not even 72 hours and the motors over heated the first 10 minutes on traning mode so i went to a 16t pinon gear and it still over heats
no I do not have any overheating issues. And I didn't before I put the brushless system in either. What kind of ground are you running on? deep grass, sand, pavement?
ok traxxas warnityed out my motors and if it still over heats they want my car back but ill try the fan out 1st and is a castle creations mmm and a feagio 6xl a good combo thanxs
The way I have it geared it only gets about 39mph, but I love the power it has and 39-40 is fast enough for racing in most situations. Unless your doing drag races you really don't need 60mph. lol.
The MM can take 6S lipo, and the Novak can only take 4S lipo. So yes with 6S lipo the MM has more power and speed as you would expect. However, if you use 4S lipo in both, then they have almost identical performance.
The reason I said that is because it's true. The MMM can use 6S lipo. The HV pro can only use 4S lipo. So with 6S lipo the MMM will be stronger and faster. The HV Pro cannot use 6S lipo so it cannot compete at that level. However as I have said before 6S power tends to shred tires, driveshafts and transmissions if not used VERY wisely. So if both systems are limited to 4S lipo and the same gearing, they are almost identical in performance. we tested this and found it to be true.
speed is a function of gearing and power. Both of these systems will have aprox the same speed if run with the same batteries and the same gearing. For example. I have the Novak HV pro 5.5. My buddy has the MMM. We both used 4S lipo in our E-REVOs and had a race. They were dead even on speed every time we ran them, since we had the same gearing and same batteries.
Thanks. I think if you upgrade to a 17-teeth pinion you could get 45 mph, well, only in speed runs not when bashing.
Does the MMM includes pinion?
Based in your experience and opinion, which are the best NiMH and LiPo batteries on the market?
I know that the NiMH batteries right from the start begin to discharge and the LiPo mantain it's charge but in the very first NiMH (7-cell) and Lipo (4S) run with the MMM system, which will be faster. I know that LiPo is obiously huge more performance.
After the first 30 or 40 seconds lipo will always be better. NiMH can't put out enough amps for todays high end BL motors including both of the ones you are talking about. Orion, MAXAMPS, DTX, SMC and Thunder Power all make great batteries.
yes, it's possible, but you need to be careful. Brushless motors and speed controllers put out a lot more static and interference than regular motors and ESCs. So most guys upgrade to 2.4ghz if going brushless to avoid bad things. if you want to stay with the stock receiver, make sure to move the antenna wire as far away as possible from the bl motor and ESC.
also do you have to make any modifacations to the revo before you can install the brushless motor?this may sound stupid but will it still be 4 wheel drive with just one motor?
nope. Car is totally stock. didn't change anything at all except for the motor and the ESC. And yes it's still 4wd. The drivetrain is unchanged from stock. This car is built from the ground up by traxxas to be brushless ready. Also the mamba monster ESC I mentioned below is what traxxas is installing in their factory brushless E-REVO now.
I have a few questions, one, what batteries are you runnin? whats your run time? and can you still use, say, two 8.4 volt nimh packs with that esc like on the evx-2? please reply
The Novak power pro system allows you to use anything between 6 and 8 cells for nimh and 2S for lipo. However, since I did this install, the Mamba monster ESC came out which allowes (2) 3S lipos. The Novak ESC can only do up to (2) 2S lipo. So if you want the most insane performance you can get, check out the mamba monster. I might have installed it but it wasn't available yet when I did this upgrade.
hey how much do you like ur e revo and how well does it hold up. i'm looking at getting the e revo but 1/16th scale. they still the same chassis and stuff i need to know how well it holds up at bashing, jumping and oval track racing. thnx
I actually LOVE my E-REVO. Killer truck. VERY tough and very fast now that I have brushless in it. If you replace all the normal break points with RPM parts, it becomes a real Monster!! Do I like it.... let me think.... YES!!!!!!!!! lol.
nice i got a question and ur the rc master well any way if i wanted a nitro wat do u think i shpuld get for my very first nitro car and needs to under 300
Well, you know I like traxxas products because they are tons of fun and parts are available everywhere. So I would probably say a T-MAXX 2.5. I think you can get those for under $300. Or a Nitro Rustler. Either would be a blast.
What about the Niro sport? They seem like a pretty good nitro beginner. I don't really need beginer though cuz im pretty good with cars though, but just wondering.
no. not unless you change the ESC. The stock ESC can only handle 16.8 v. The brushless ESC I put in is the same. If you put in a mamba ESC you can go to 22.2v
It's faster off the line than many nitro models including T-MAXX. However, with my power system my top speed is around 40mph and the T-MAXX can get to 45.
hey, I just got a revo 3.3 roller that I am going to convert. I have been toying around with the ideas of different motors and esc's. Do you like this motor and speedo? I like novak but i dont know much about this system. I will be using the 6.5. what do you think? THanks.
Well, it's a great ESC/Motor combo and very strong, but one other one you might consider is the Mamba Max system that's going into the factory brushless E-REVO now. It wasn't available yet when I installed this system. It has one advantage over the Novak brushless system... it can use (2) 3S lipos which is the same as a 6S lipo or 22.2 volts - totally insane. The novak system can only use up to 4S lipo or 14.8 volts. But it is still very strong. I love mine. So either would work fine.
yeah I was going between the two I just wanted an opinion on the novak. I think I will go MMM just because I have had caste stuff and its been great. thanks for the help.
I'm sorry, unfortunately that it not legal... I use only songs that I have purchased in my videos. However you can easily download it from iTunes or many other places for a few cents.
The pinion gear is metal and comes with the motor and power system. The spur gear is still stock. Also the transmission is still stock. I haven't had any problems with it at all.
Dude, that is an awesome question. No one has ever asked me that before. lol. And I hadn't ever tried it. It was such a good question I had to go try it myself. The answer is yes... kinda... The front pins fit fine and the body goes on the truck ok, but the back pins are in the wrong place. You could probably make it work pretty easy... If you send me your email address I will send you a picture of the E-Revo body on the E-maxx. Once again... Great question!
I have both. This video was done with (2) 7cell DTX 4200 nimh packs. But I also have (2) 2S 7.4v 4000 mah 20c lipos that I run in it regularly. Both work great, the nimh give a slightly higher top speed for the 1st 2 or 3 minutes, but then the lipo last far longer, and are much faster after 4 minutes than the nimh. The lipo are also much lighter so I get more air on jumps and land softer as well. The ESC lets me run either with a simple button press and I can do it at the track.
I have the 5.5 and it lasts about 10-12 minutes on 7cells. But I push it very hard. run full speed most of the time. The 4.5 would be faster speed, but would use the batteries even faster. If you don't run full speed all the time it will last longer maybe 15-18 minutes.
ok there is the thing my dad have a vtwin emaxx i want to make sure i beat him and i live in Barbados so most of the time it kind of hot so you are saying the 4.5 is not wat i want the 5.5 is better
The 4.5 is awesome and is the fastest motor, but it will chew up your battery quicker because it uses more power so your runtimes will be shorter. The 5.5 is a little slower, but runs a lot longer on the same battery.
Yes, it is a snap in replacement for E-MAXX as well. Only reason I didn't put one in my E-MAXX was because I like to keep it for running in water, mud and snow. Those things are NOT good for brushless motors and ESCs. lol
Of course I don't usually take off like that. This was just for the video. I generally accelerate smoothly so it doesn't lift the front and scratch up the fin anymore. :)
absolutely. I only put the spektrum receiver on because I wanted to. The stock receiver will work just fine. But if you do it just be careful to keep the antenna wire and the brushless power leads as far away from each other as possible to avoid radio static.
This is the HV Pro 5.5 system. And no, I have not had any heating problems. I'm using a 13t pinion which doesn't bog the motor at all. It works really well.
Novak makes very good motors and ESC's. But so do a lot of other vendors. It really comes down to what you want. The Novak system I installed had everything I wanted for this car.
Unfortunately, no... While they are both 2.4ghz freq, they use completely different kinds of spread spectrum technology. Spektrum DSM and DSM2 finds 2 free channels and locks onto them. Futaba FASST skips across all channels every few milliseconds. So they will NOT work together.
Spektrum makes a TX and RX pack for airtronics. But other than that, I do not think airtronics receivers will work with spektrum transmitters or the other way around. Pretty much every companies' design of 2.4ghz is slightly different. This is intentional so that you will buy all your tx and rx gear from them.
...i think electric is faster just better runs with nitro from..not recharging i just decided i am going to look for a conversion kit for the lst so if you know of one...tell a bro out man i really like your vids watch mine
I heard the aftershock was pretty cool... Don't be down on nitro. I'm a nitro guy from way back. They are still stronger and faster than most electric models. You just have to tune them a little more. I have the T-MAXX 3.3 nitro and love it. It's top speed is around 44 mph. And that's stock. It kicks.
I haven't had time to do any yet. lol. I just got the new power system installed yesterday evening, and I still have to work for a living. So I haven't been able to take it out on the road yet.
I'm sure there will be a video about it in the future. :)

It comes with the plate if you get the esc and motor kit.

if you put a mamba monster in an e maxx is is still 4 wheel drive and does the speed control come with 2 connecters for 2 batteries
wildboys282 2 years ago
Yes it will still be 4WD. The speed controller doesn't change the transmission or power train. And yes you can connect 2 batteries.
jetlag2222 2 years ago
Ok, but you said something about the biggest performance is offered by the Mamba Monster, so, what are those performance advantages?
I said teacher because you're a really genious of the RC hobby.

oday1395 3 years ago
Cool I think you will be very happy with it. Let me know how you like it. I might have to upgrade someday. lol.
jetlag2222 3 years ago
Hey nice video! You have the 3905 and the new e revo which do you prefer?
urgeone 3 years ago
Thanks! I love them both. I don't want to give up either one. :)

can you send me the song plzz my song has bad sound
wallinsky95 3 years ago
I'm sorry, unfortunately that it not legal... I use only songs that I have purchased in my videos. However you can easily download it from iTunes or many other places for a few cents.
jetlag2222 3 years ago
when you put that in did you have to get steel gears?
dieselboy56 3 years ago
The pinion gear is metal and comes with the motor and power system. The spur gear is still stock. Also the transmission is still stock. I haven't had any problems with it at all.
jetlag2222 3 years ago
How much was the speed controler???? and how much ground clearance can you get out of the e-revo with the long travel suspension kit???
Owebaby11 3 years ago
The novak 5.5 system I got cost about $300 by the time I got everything I needed for it.
jetlag2222 3 years ago
Not sure how much the long travel stuff is. I didn't get it because I didn't see a need. The stock susp works great.
jetlag2222 3 years ago
can u have ervo body on e-maxx with out buy some speciel built?
wallinsky95 3 years ago
Dude, that is an awesome question. No one has ever asked me that before. lol. And I hadn't ever tried it. It was such a good question I had to go try it myself. The answer is yes... kinda... The front pins fit fine and the body goes on the truck ok, but the back pins are in the wrong place. You could probably make it work pretty easy... If you send me your email address I will send you a picture of the E-Revo body on the E-maxx. Once again... Great question!

lipo or 7 cell
mh509 3 years ago
I have both. This video was done with (2) 7cell DTX 4200 nimh packs. But I also have (2) 2S 7.4v 4000 mah 20c lipos that I run in it regularly. Both work great, the nimh give a slightly higher top speed for the 1st 2 or 3 minutes, but then the lipo last far longer, and are much faster after 4 minutes than the nimh. The lipo are also much lighter so I get more air on jumps and land softer as well. The ESC lets me run either with a simple button press and I can do it at the track.
jetlag2222 3 years ago
so how long does it last with 7 cell wat is the runtimes because i am buying one am not sure the 4.5 or 5.5 i want long runtimes and wheels up power
mh509 3 years ago
I have the 5.5 and it lasts about 10-12 minutes on 7cells. But I push it very hard. run full speed most of the time. The 4.5 would be faster speed, but would use the batteries even faster. If you don't run full speed all the time it will last longer maybe 15-18 minutes.
jetlag2222 3 years ago
ok there is the thing my dad have a vtwin emaxx i want to make sure i beat him and i live in Barbados so most of the time it kind of hot so you are saying the 4.5 is not wat i want the 5.5 is better
mh509 3 years ago
The 4.5 is awesome and is the fastest motor, but it will chew up your battery quicker because it uses more power so your runtimes will be shorter. The 5.5 is a little slower, but runs a lot longer on the same battery.
jetlag2222 3 years ago
would that engine work just as good with the new emaxx and also is the engine and esc easy to install.
Thnaks.
NOVS12 3 years ago
Yes, it is a snap in replacement for E-MAXX as well. Only reason I didn't put one in my E-MAXX was because I like to keep it for running in water, mud and snow. Those things are NOT good for brushless motors and ESCs. lol
jetlag2222 3 years ago
how fast does it go?
rustlervxldude98 3 years ago
I am using a 13T pinion gear on the brushless motor and the stock spur gear that comes with the E-REVO new.
jetlag2222 3 years ago
hey bud could you tell me what gear ratio you running.
Cheers
kenhawker1970 3 years ago
Next upgrade should be a wheelie bar dude.
The cars sweet
kenhawker1970 3 years ago
lol. no doubt.
Of course I don't usually take off like that. This was just for the video. I generally accelerate smoothly so it doesn't lift the front and scratch up the fin anymore. :)
jetlag2222 3 years ago
ok i no ur using a spectrum, but will this combo work with the stock receiver?
thank you.
revotmaxx8 3 years ago
absolutely. I only put the spektrum receiver on because I wanted to. The stock receiver will work just fine. But if you do it just be careful to keep the antenna wire and the brushless power leads as far away from each other as possible to avoid radio static.
jetlag2222 3 years ago
hey i forgot what gear pitch it's supposed to be. is it 48 or 32
thanx
revotmaxx8 3 years ago
What hv pro system do you have? 4.5 5.5?
And onde more question, do you have any prblm with the heat in long run times?
Thanks
cdxgt500 3 years ago
This is the HV Pro 5.5 system. And no, I have not had any heating problems. I'm using a 13t pinion which doesn't bog the motor at all. It works really well.
jetlag2222 3 years ago
what pinion and spur are you using? nice vid by the way
bigburds10 3 years ago
This has been flagged as spam show
Thankyou. The pinion is a 13t. The Spur is the stock one that comes with the E-REVO.
jetlag2222 3 years ago
what type of batterys did u use?
mattrox1221 3 years ago
In this video I was using (2) DTX 4200 mah NiMH batteries.
jetlag2222 3 years ago
Great Video, good cuts...
brushless55 3 years ago
Thanks for the kind words. :) I really enjoy building and running the models and filming them. If others like it too, that just makes it better.
jetlag2222 3 years ago
nice e revo cant decide on a novak or someother setup is novak like a really good setup is the motor strong
kevin1032v 3 years ago
Novak makes very good motors and ESC's. But so do a lot of other vendors. It really comes down to what you want. The Novak system I installed had everything I wanted for this car.
jetlag2222 3 years ago
weak. check out mine Brushless e REVO wheelie complete flip
ekess7458 3 years ago
That's because you have the body off. My E-REVO will easily do a complete backflip with the body off too. I just don't like to run it that way.
jetlag2222 3 years ago
what would u suggest?
spektrum dx2.0
spektrum dx3.0
or futaba 3pm w/ fasst
???
i have a rustler and am hoping to get an emaxx
also whats a good brushless system?
straitupslapstick 3 years ago
I like Spektrum/JR radio gear, but Futaba is also very good. You can't really go wrong with either of them.
The Spektrum DX2 and DX3 do not have DSM2 technology, so I would go for the DX3R if you can.
For a brushless system, you can't do better than Novak. They have many to choose from.
jetlag2222 3 years ago
would a spektrum reciecer work with a futaba 3pm 2.4ghz? Because the futaba is channel hopping
straitupslapstick 3 years ago
Unfortunately, no... While they are both 2.4ghz freq, they use completely different kinds of spread spectrum technology. Spektrum DSM and DSM2 finds 2 free channels and locks onto them. Futaba FASST skips across all channels every few milliseconds. So they will NOT work together.
jetlag2222 3 years ago
wat about the airtronics 2.4 recievers?
straitupslapstick 3 years ago
Spektrum makes a TX and RX pack for airtronics. But other than that, I do not think airtronics receivers will work with spektrum transmitters or the other way around. Pretty much every companies' design of 2.4ghz is slightly different. This is intentional so that you will buy all your tx and rx gear from them.
jetlag2222 3 years ago
i meant wit da futaba cuz there both channel hopping
straitupslapstick 3 years ago
So how many fins have you gone through? lol
mempey 3 years ago
Still on the 1st one, but it's a little scratched up. :)
I don't normally accelerate fast enough to pop a wheelie except for this video.
jetlag2222 3 years ago
OMG this Revo is CRAZY
Godd video 5/5
Damino95 3 years ago
Now to change a few things like tires so it will do a full backflip from a dead stop.
Kevster012 3 years ago
yeah I just put the novak hvpro5.5 in my erevo. man does that system have some power. can't wait to go lipo.
magicman1312 3 years ago
you need bigger wheel to di some on cover run !! loll with that power !!!

...i think electric is faster just better runs with nitro from..not recharging i just decided i am going to look for a conversion kit for the lst so if you know of one...tell a bro out man i really like your vids watch mine
EvilTesTiclesRC 3 years ago
its a nice truck though man!! i just bought a losi afterschock i just started breaking it in...i dont know why i got it i hate nitro! ohwell
EvilTesTiclesRC 3 years ago
I heard the aftershock was pretty cool... Don't be down on nitro. I'm a nitro guy from way back. They are still stronger and faster than most electric models. You just have to tune them a little more. I have the T-MAXX 3.3 nitro and love it. It's top speed is around 44 mph. And that's stock. It kicks.
jetlag2222 3 years ago
at the end it says 2009 haha
EvilTesTiclesRC 3 years ago
lol. yeah I saw that, but it wasn't worth editing the video again. :)
jetlag2222 3 years ago
lets see some speed runs
fathead431 3 years ago
I haven't had time to do any yet. lol. I just got the new power system installed yesterday evening, and I still have to work for a living. So I haven't been able to take it out on the road yet.
I'm sure there will be a video about it in the future. :)
