  • Can't say enough about this? Sure can't climb no trees dude..

  • some thing about the way this songs recorded reminds me of Robert Johnson's hell hound on my trail

  • The intro to this song is probably the coolest fuckin' thing I've ever heard Zeppelin do.

  • Lol Led Zeppelin, one of the first hard rock and roll bands. Long Live Zeppelin. Lol this reminds me of the devil

  • i dont know why so many people dont like this song its seriously very good

  • this songs never made sense

  • go play youre game you fuking little monkey... and donnt make fun of my speling...

  • Long Live Led Zeppelin!

  • fucking awesome Zeppelinnnnnnnnnnn !!!!!!!!!

  • this is a cool song. if you dont like the blues you shouldnt like Led Zep. Keith Moon said the blues that Led Zep was going to play would go ver like a lead baloon, hence the moniker Led Zeppelin.Since I've been loving you, dazed and confused great blues songs I cant quit you babe etc.

  • sicodelic... °-°

  • what the fuck is that

    "sicodelic".. :S

  • lol...

  • Hmm. On my old cassette of "Led Zeppelin III" this song just kind of fades out around 3:43. It doesn't end like on here.

In other words, there's just a few seconds missing.

  • It was remastered with others in the early 90's.I beleive one of the first Box Set cd packages.

  • I think my least favorite song is one of those crap songs (compared to the rest of their works) from In Through the Out Door. Southbound Suarez is absolutely awful. Hot dog sucks pretty bad too and so does I'm gonna crawl.

  • Really? I like In Through the Out Door. Admittedly, Hot Dog isn't very good (although I got that it wasn't supposed to be taken seriously) but South Bound Suarez would probably be somewhere in the middle of my top LZ songs list. And I'm Gonna Crawl may not have had the best lyrics or vocals, but the composition was brilliant.

  • The people who are saying they love Led Zep but hate this song should have some respect for this Delta Blues style playing because it's this very genre that not only helped make Zeppelin what it is, but was staggeringly influential in all the others genres of music that you're likely to be a fan of.

  • Led Zeppelin is my favourite group... and this is our worse song, in my opinion... xD i don't like it, absolutely... (sorry for the english, i'm italian lol)

  • Its probably because its a strong blues song. Most people can't appreciate it.

  • How did this turn into a religious debate? XD

  • this is some good ol' blues right here

  • I worship Led Zeppelin and Satan, ya thats how hardcore I am

  • my favorite zep song, seriously.

  • zeppelin fans of youtube i want to know what do u think is the most underated led zeppelin song of all time! leave me a comment stating what song it is on my profile

  • After youve gone through hell, it takes all you got just to get to heaven.

  • give my baby a 20 dollar bill, if that dont shut that woman up I'm sho my shotgun will....hell yeah!!!

  • these english boys arms are much too skinny to even handle a shotgun, all talk no walk, listen to some leadbelly, he killed a man, thats the real blues

  • LOL You're pathetic...

  • good fryn' music.

  • I can write music about money, does that mean I'm rich? Does it mean I know anything about money? Would you get me to be your accountant because I wrote a song about money? The devil is the prince of the air, the prince of this world system that's speeding toward it's end. Zep had the most talented musicians, but the truth is they were into the occult. They got their influence from demonic powers. Don't be decieved. Don't "let the music by your master", and Don't "heed that master's call."

  • What about J. Paul Jones? He wasn't into the whole occult thing like Page and Plant.

Secondly Led Zeppelin 1 had no religious/satanic references which proves they did not get "their Influence from demonic powers."

Page found a deep fascination in the works of 'A. Crowley' and Plant was also very interested so this was brought out in some of the song lyrics, but neither of them were actually Satanists.

Being a cat fanatic doesn't make you a cat right? Same logic can be applied here.

  • atheism is considered a religion, the religion of not believing in religions. Why not learn what the word "agnostic" means you idiotic fools.

  • Atheism has never been considered a religion. Look it up in a dictionary, dumbass. You sound like a right-winger from Kansas.

  • Atheism isn't a religion, you idiot. Look if up in the dictionary if you must, but do not confuse agnotisism with atheism.

  • Had to write that twice huh? maybe YOU need a dictionary, jefhart... more like jefFAG

  • Wow, that totally didn't make any sense. Leave the grownups alone now please.

  • let me spell is out for you.. .F A G

  • I'm not gay and I'm not your "mate". Sounds to me like you are a closetcase.

  • what i like about zep is they can catch the essence of the time period when this song was written

  • behold the greatest rock band this planet has seen , you know what i mean????????

  • wicked tune

  • This song is great. I can't even understand what the hell Plant is saying and I like it still.

  • When I done quit hollerin' baby, I believe I'll shake 'em on down

Get my babe, won't be late, You know by that I mean seconds late

Ah, must I holler, Must I shake 'em on down,

Well I've been mistreated, babe, I believe I'll shake 'em on down.

Well I ain't no monkey. I can't climb no tree,

No brown skin woman gonna make no monkey out of me,

I ain't no monkey, Sure can't climb no tree,

  • vocally Plant Pulled off a real maniac on cocaine and whiskey.....His breath control is on point did not slip no air .... His voice is a pure implosion of air and vocal strings in the throat..

  • Great one, but the most druggiest and trippiest Zeppelin song I've ever heard.

  • I love LZ III,but it took me some time to get used to this track. Now,I love it , because I feel it demonstrates how the boys just played the music they really loved, without compromise. You gotta love them for that. The third album is my favourite,by the way.

  • you guys are targets

  • The crunge is an awesome song, how is it your least favorite????

  • The delta blues style of playing is beautiful. I don't see how you guys can't like it.

  • well i ain't no monkey i can't climb no trees.

    awesome song awesome band!

  • not a bad song on any album best band of all time and times to come

  • this song is sooo weird, but its good!

  • haha Jonesy is getting it on at 0:22 XD

  • dude, you're a jackass. go buy britney spears!

  • paf...dude...no...led zep is soo much better than any band today

  • nice and rare pics, nice sound!

  • Hey it's just Zeppelin fucking around.I still love it better than D'yer Maker

  • you the fuck is john 14:6 does he play Zep?

  • Mother Nature is occult...and Roy is not anti-christian he is anti-religion(s) though his (and Jimmy's)faith in the Divine principle is great

  • nothing wrong with being anti christian, im an atheist. so what?

  • Nothing I guess. As long as you don't mind spending eternity separated from God the giver of Life who provides it by the sacrifice of His Son.

    Your choice.

  • Your threat, not mine

  • God's word, not my threat.

    Your choice:)

  • I agree. However it's impossible to truly love somebody without God. The sixties seemed like a good idea but it berthed a generation of crackheads and greedy coporate yuppies. Why do you think Led Zep is advertizing cadilacs? Money, not love.

  • so the 60s didnt produce music about love? does that band called, shit whats their name... oh yea the Beatles.. do they ring a bell. and btw the bible contradicts itself in the story of adam and eve just throwing that out there

  • One word- SCARY!!

  • I dont think religion matters. Whether or not there is a God, and I'm not saying there is or isn't, I'm sure He just wants us to love each other and help those who are in need. That's how we should live regardless of our faith.

  • Im a Christian too man and to me the religion of a band or artist doesnt matter its the music that matters. sure Page was in the cult but he isnt asking you to do it

  • You people know fuck all! I was 17 when when this came out in 1970 so you must all be youngsters. It's a blues parody ..Bukka White I believe ..Jimmy Page is a fan of Roy.

  • Love Zep, this track is truly wierd but I don't care.

Roy Harper is magic too, checkout "one of those days in England".

    Brilliant, music lovers.

  • listen to led zep 3 from start to finish - this song fits perfectly as the last song on the album - hats off to you peanutsavage

  • This song was stolen from Bukka White's "Shake 'Em On Down." I still love Zeppelin but they should have credited the artist they took from.

  • I understand what you mean, but the song is classified as 'Traditional' so no one realy owns the song. Like the National Anthem is 'Traditional' its also changed and is played from a different perspective.

    Thanks for all the comments!

  • It's Bukka White's - they credited it as 'Trad' to get both songwriter's and arranger's royalty!

  • that was usual for them, they got lots of lawsuits for that, from Chess Records, Willie Dixon and Howlin' Wolf...and thanks god they lost them, one after one, so they had to put the right names on the album credits and pay lots of money.

    Horrible attitude.

  • @rawu10000 This is the first time I've come back to this video in 3 years, not the song cause believe me I still rock out to this song often, but I should clarify that I was young and pissed when I found out Zepp didn't credit a few of the songs they put out and they had suits filed against them in some cases. However, Zepp is one of the reason I buy old blues CDs to this day. And let's get real, nobody could've turned these old blues songs into such badass rock songs like Zepp did!

  • @rawu10000 most zep songs are reworkings or just plain old rip offs (not a bad thing) because they had a way of making the wind sound fresh and new. Im not flaming them, because im a Zep fan-boy through an through

  • Ta, peanutsavage. I'm so pleased you appreciate the stuff I took for granted when I was your age - god bless, I only wish! Music is there to take out of it what you can at any age in any time. Just like any form of art. I do think I have been fortunate, though. However, there are gems in every era - look for those who give it all they have - just for the music - the Doors did it for me as well as LZ. Have a happy life.

  • Thanks for the trouble you have taken to share this. I'm 65 and grew up with the golden age of rock-style music all around me. What's not to like about LZ paying tribute to Roy. A highest quality act respecting a vastly underrated tunesmith.

  • Thankyou, I'm only 14 I found a band that has it all. Your generation [If you dont mind me saying that?] Has the best music ever. The who, Cream, Free, Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix etc.

Thanks for the comment. Help keeping real music alive.

  • @peanutsavage

    Hats off to you!

  • @bluesandpinkfloyd Haha cheers :)

  • i dont really like this song much but im a big led zeppelin fan. what album is this song on?

  • This was on Led Zeppelin 3, with the Immagrant song and Tangerine it was more of a acoustic album than electric.

  • Why do you thnks he sucks? Just wondered by the way!

  • yeah i dont get it either, i think hes amazing...

  • It's not that I don't like Led Zeppelin or Jimmy Page. I just think what he's playing with the slide just.. sucks. It doesn't have any real touch or finesse behind it, unlike a lot of Page's guitar work, it's just really repetitive and the notes just come too constantly for my tastes.

It sounds like someone who plays guitar but has never really used a slide before... just has no feel for it. It'd odd, because most of Page's guitar playing is really excellent bluesy stuff.

  • Yeah I admit it has a kinda different tone to it, takes time but it sounds cool in its own way

  • Yeah, when I listen to Zep, they come up with sounds that you almost have to wonder what kind of instrument they used. And when you figure it out, you kind of wonder how the hell they pulled it off.

  • I couldn't disagree with you more... I think Jimmy was going for (and achieved) a certain sound on this track. He is a well-known afficianado of classic pre-WWII Delta Blues and this slide guitar performance is very reminiscient of a lot of the "rough around the edges" playing style of the Delta masters. This track actually cracks my "top ten Zeppelin studio tracks" list!

  • Sorry, Link... my comment was meant for the one below yours...

  • Jimmy Page played this one with a knife. Might explain why you don't like the sound.

  • In My Time of Dying calls you for a listen.

  • I just wrote a load of stuff but it didn't work...

Just search for "Roy Harper Stormcock" and you can see for yourself why Led Zed wrote a whole song in tribute.

  • Thanks I checked it out very intersting cheers

  • What's up with all the satanic allusions?

  • What do you mean!!??

  • I think he is talking about the pics at like 1:17

  • at 02:02 you can find a demon too, down the right corner.

  • reallly

  • This is The SH*t!!

    Really Loved it

Loved the Song, Awesome, Amazing Bluesy Guitar
