im english and when we went over to the north side on excursion i must say that i didnt like the turkish people very much not friendly like the cypriots in ayia napa where we was staying they seemed bit pushy and rude

we went to cyprus in 2006 and 2007 went on excursion to nicosia they said u cud see the turkish part thru the barbed wire in the town centre tho at the time i wasnt sure if we was looking in the right bit we went up to the 11th floor of debenhams and looked that was good. we also done a trip to famagusta but was dissappointed as we cudnt go in and we was told dont take pictures u aint allowed tho i got some but the viewing points are so far away u cant see much anyway

In the English language the city is known ONLY as 'NICOSIA'. In Turkish it is known as 'Lefkosa' and in Greek 'Lefkosia'. So the very fact that the news presenter is calling the city by its Greek name is a clear indication of his bias. Nice one al-jazeera!

The Greek- and Turkish-Cypriot authorities agreed on a shared spelling of 'Lefkosia' in English a couple of years ago, as it can be made to sound like "Lefkosha" or "Lefkoseeya". Also I think they're slowly starting to remove all the English versions of city names (Nicosia, Limassol, etc). So he was actually just saying the name as any English speaker would if they saw a sign spelt 'Lefkosia' in English.

yes ok and under the treaty that was ok, what happend was that the cypriot soldiers started killing TCs as they retreated and the Turks started bombing civilians. Then instead of bringing peace to cyprus Turkey set up a pupet government and took a third of the island. But i know how you feel whenever anyone talks about cyprus they say the GCypriots regected the anan plan so they dont want unification, when that is not hte full story... DEAL WITH IT
