@DP3mo24hofosho you know, of all the republican candidates, I would probably vote for Ron Paul, if only he didn't align himself with the republican party. There is no way his caucus will allow him to go after the federal reserve or pull out troop around the world. This is why is candidacy is a fail. If only he would run 3rd party, things might be different, he knows, and the republicans know, that a 3rd party candidate will split the republican vote.

@pokersnoodle the only reason he is a part of the party is because he would not be able to get in the debates and get nationally reconized if he wasn't. congress might try to block him from ending the federal reserve, but he would be able to bring the troops home without any assistance because he would be the commander in chief. if he ran as a third party, he would have no chance at winning the general election. he has to win the primary.

So far, what I've gotten from Ron Paul, has not convinced me enough to pick him over Obama (which is not much) - For example, its on record that Paul would rather have the Church (there's only ONE church for Paul btw, so that's why its "THE church") decide on marriage rights, rather than the state or fed. govt. -that's just not going to fly bc if he publicly states that, you can imagine what he doesnt say in public.

@ManuelEdghill what he means by that marriage thing is that the government should not tell us who we should marry, gay or straight, because that is not the federal governments role to decide what marriage is, he voted against an amendment defining marriage being between one man and one woman. also, there is overwhellming support for ron paul here on youtube. just look up videos here. let me get you started. type in amazing perdictions of ron paul and you will find some good videos.

And I saw that vid about his predictions too... but still, I need to be slapped across the face with Ron Paul awesomeness to pick him over Obama, and I've yet to receive said slap. But, who knows...-now its up to your party (I'm assuming you're a Republican) to pick the right wo/man for the race.

I am not American, but I've been confused why there are red states and blue states. What's the point of calling the USA the United States of America, if there are opposing parties trying to improve the country against eachother. If the country is united than drop the Democrats and Repulicans and just have a single group made of both parties.

There are opposing parties, because the country is a democracy, which means that there are several different political parties (Democrats and Republican are the biggest) eligible for power. There are several levels (presidential, senate etc.) for which people can vote. There are several different parties, because everyone is entitled to their own opinion :) Is it a little clearer now?

Devised by a college political science professor, it divided the states into red states (Republican) and blue states (Democratic) to help the electorate and politicians understand how these states lean - purple - or are solidly behind one party over another.
