This one is so much better than the 1998 one with Lindsay Lohen. It's got more style and no dirty mentioning of parents having sex like in the 1998 version. Also unlike Lindsay, Hayley is not a crackhead.

I loved both versions. I grew up on the remake, but I really learned to appreciate its source material as I grew up. I feel like the remake is based more on the original movie than the German book on which it was based. Hayley Mills and Lindsay Lohan were both charming young actresses. They were very charming and likable. This version, I believe, has the more interesting side characters, especially Reverend Moesby and Miss Inch. The remake, however, seemed to be paced a bit better. I'm torn.

I actually like Lindsay Lohan better, her version was cooler and she was fabulous. Her haircut was much prettier and decent looking, the haircut of the twins in the older vers. look like the haircuts of mental ward patients or Mia Farrow in Rosemary's Baby!! Creepy!

The very first, original "Parent Trap" was "Three Smart Girls" with Deanna Durbin, way back in the 1930's and it's better than both the re-makes. Check it out, I saw it on Youtube, it may still be there. Deanna Durbin saved Universal Pictures from bankruptcy. By the way, did you all know that the stage union IATSE was controlled by the Mafia in the 1930's and 1940's? Oh yeah, just Google "Bioff and Brown" and you'll get the story on that! Hollywood is filled with creeps!

I hate the way people are criticizing Lindsay - She did a good job in the movie and she deserves praise for it. Her accent switch was good and so was her acting. Hayley Mills might be better for people but one person doesn't have to SUCK just because the other is great. I don't think any of us can ever act as good as either of them so we're in no way liable to make such remarks.

I am a twin. I saw it for my 51st time (seriously) this weekend at a special presentation at the Egyptian Theater in Hollywood. Haley Mills was hosting. Watching it on big screen with the audience laughter for the first time since 1961 was a wonderful experience. Most incredible response came when grandpa tries to subtlely convince his daughter Maureen O'Hara that she might want to modernize her look before she sees her ex-husband again. A huge nervous laughing response seeing it as an adult.

The Crap thing in Parent Trap is The 2nd movie in 1986. It's only a matter of opinion and a two generation difference in cultural changes with which is better out of this one and Lindsay Lohan's one. I am writing this comment before I've watched ay of this so I can't judge just yet, But the 2nd movie i've seen and compared to the 1998 version and this one (I am guessing it's the same idea) because the 1998 version is a re-make. But the 1986 completely out of context and not a fan of it.
