I agree a great rendition. often non-Scots singing Scottish songs can make Scots cringe a bit as the put on accents can be atrocious. (as I'm sure are Brits doing American songs) but this sounds just quite natural. And accents aside it is just really well done
Hi there. Great stuff and you done the song justice as you stuck to the original melody unlike most Americans that perform Scots traditional songs. Very very very good indeed mate :-)
Yes, this is an excellent rendition of this classic beauty. I wish the audio was a little better, but only so we could more enjoy your most excellent performance. Slainte.
And if you ever intend to perform at the Texas Renfest in Plantersville ( Houston Renfest ) please send me a note letting me know when you will appear. I'll be there for sure. My Renfest name is Agachak.
Kevin, I love your rendition of this tune. I play in a small group with two other people (fiddle, pipes/whistles, guitar) and we would love to do your arrangement of this tune. I also believe in giving credit where credit is due, so when we play it, how should I credit you...Kevin Tyler from ...or Conner Savage?
Thank you so much.... just Kevin Tyler from Fenton, Michigan. Conor Savage is my "faire name" at The Michigan Renaissance Festival..... I also learned this tune from Dougie MacLean and my arrangement has elements similar to his. Again, thank you.
Very nice - and done with passion. Being a Scot I've always thought Michael Marra's raw verion of this song is the way it should be done - but your take on it is wonderful. Thank you Gringo
hmmm, a bit of home work needs done, bobe burns worked so hard on this song he musta done at least 5 versions that i know for diferent pubs and occasions, from sweet to pornographic
That is interesting to be sure, but I can't be arsed including everything known about a particular song. I like this version best of any I have heard so far.
CASTING PEARLS TO SWINE.. This chap, if you look closely, DIDNT GIVE A SH... He looked like (and this is what matters )he was into the burns(and were not talking about homers boss)the audience could have been buck neked , he would not have noticed..that is what i class as the consumate professional, his guitar work also was impressive and faultless. , I imagine ... not one person in the place knew what the song was about, by the way, thanks mate it was great well done..jim.
Very good!
