I came to an intersection were I was by permit supposed to go streight. There was a cop ahead and she wanted me to go right. They had just sprayed all the lines and walks and had cones up, I signaled one more time to go streight, she got mad and pointed right, I was 82 feet long and wide, I swung as far left as I could, ran over both lanes of lines and cones, swung right ran over all the lines and cones, 30 tires makes a mess of new lines, should have seen her face,tossed my hands up and drove.

What else was he supposed to do, he was keeping it a foot off the jersey barrier? All wide loads are permited for certian roads, the states at times don't have clue what they are doing, I have been sent in a tiny town off an interstate, with a tiny traffic circle and granite posts on the inside and sidewalks and awnings around the outside,then five miles of 12' wide road with the poles in the curbing, to avoid 30' of bridge work I could have drove right through. I had a 13' wide dozer on.

@eurodaily I drive a pilot car, or 'escort vehicle'. First off, it's not multi-lane, the pilot vehicle is in the lead. Second, We don't have much control over where we get routed. And if it means we're hauling thru a construction zone where the jackoffs set it up too narrow thats not our problem. They just get someone to go pick em up again.

i knocked down about 20 miles of cones like this one day, at the direction of an arizona state trooper. his words were it's a lot easier for them to set the cones back up than to get that crate off the guard rail, they shouldn't have permitted you through here while doing construction. so boys it's not the truck drivers fault whoever issued the permit didn't know what they were doing. and temporary road occurs all the time. i didn't even see anyone working in your video.

VERY WRONG, The escort has nothing to do with routing. I'm on a 12 wide as I write. You must follow permit routing regardless. Only a DOT officer can rout you around something and almost always escorts via the front. Ohio did the same to me with a 14-6. My load sat high enough to clear all though over top all barrels. Made all behind laugh and road workers look. You just go slow.

Your 100% correct. The routing is determined by permits that the state(s) issues. All you have to do is indicate a "POE" (Point-of-Entry) for each state so all routes can be picked up by the following state your going through.

I had on OD load that was on a permit and the routing "detour" put me onto ANOTHER restricted width road. I called the DOT and was told to continue because there was no alternitive. Need less to say, the machines tires rubbed both sides of the jersey barriers.

The driver did well to keep it straight and off the Jersey Barrier. In Quebec they had a sign in French that said no wide loads over 10 feet. My buddy doesn't speak French and kept going with his 12 wide...didn't turn out good. lol
