  • okay roddy now bring it back in my room.. NEXT TIME YOU ASK IF YOU WANNA LEND IT!!! >:[[

  • that sounded crap considering the situation ...... best drum make in the world one of the best drummers and professional setup for the video shoot but couldnt even mic the kit up ???? for christs sake

  • im a roland man now through and through V Drums kick arse

  • whats the name of the drum heads ?

  • one thing i need to ask: is that a custom kit or can be bought from drum shops ?

  • @MyFretsonfire You can special this exact kit from any of our authorized DW drums dealers. We make this kit for Derek but any of our customers can have the exact same specs if they like. :)

  • Comment removed

  • @DrumWorkshopInc Can I also have the exact same specs as the Rev's drum set?

  • @SynsterGatesA7X Sure! The last kit he got from us was in 2008 and it was Solid White Finish Ply with Black Chrome Hardware in the sizes 7x8, 8x10, 9x12, 12x14, 14x16, and 2 18x22 and a 5x14 Maple snare.

  • @DrumWorkshopInc Yes! Thats exactly what I wanted. The White with black chrome specs. How much would it cost to get this drum set?

  • @SynsterGatesA7X We do not do any pricing direct from our factory here unfortunately. :( Please contact your local authorized DW drums dealer for pricing and ordering info. Please check out the link below for the closest dealer to you. Thanks!

    ://dwdr(dot)ms/v7qPFu

  • @DrumWorkshopInc Oh alright. Last question, I promise. Instead of the Solid White. Is it possible for you guys to make the set with the snake skin wrap the Rev had?

  • I wish I could enjoy my life as Derek does, being payed for what he does on that video, man...lucky guy !

  • @burns01 He does get paid for session work and live gigs. We provide him with the drums he needs at no charge. He actually is into breeding rare snakes also. :)

  • Love the kicks, love the snares, can't live with the toms. I can never hear any of the resonance in the toms. But I guess for metal, that sound will really work.

  • YOUR NOT A METAL PLAYER YOUR A DEATH METAL PLAYER!

  • @NewGamer101 oh cmon ... metal , death metal ... this is basic a metal sound..

  • @locoflaw No it is not... Metal has a melody to it, it has a singer who you can understand where he doesn't sound like a cookie monster. The drums are not fucking blast beats the whole fucking song either.

  • What does it take to get an Endorsement of DW? just curious been playing sicne 2002 currently on Youtube check some of my stuff out :) thanks

  • @joeldavidhardy We are flattered that you have chosen DW as your preferred drums and your endorsement.

We have a formal application process that everyone must go through. You can download the application and read more about it here:

    ://bit(dot)ly/endorseDW

Your odds of getting an endorsement deal are greater if you already have other endorsements (cymbals, sticks, heads, etc...), a recording contract, and a touring schedule.

  • @DrumWorkshopInc - I'm not at that level to be a drum endorser. But if I were, I'd be proud to endorse PDP. I know the product, having used it for years. I am passionate about the product. And after 10 years of playing the drums, pedals, and hardware, I won't play another brand.

But you see, I'm just some random guy. I've never had the money to record a studio record or finance a tour. Which is why I wouldn't make a good artist. But I am proud to play these kits.

  • @DrummerEvansAki Ah Evans we love you either way! We have talked to you on our Face-Book page also and we are so appreciative of your never ending supply of PMA(positive mental attitude) towards life and our gear. Talk to you soon buddy!

  • how much would a set of that size cost?

  • @MikeJunior94 We do not do any pricing or ordering of DW drums from our factory here. Please check the specs below of Derek's kit.

Natural to Royal/Dark Indigo Burst over Ebony Ivory Exotic with chrome hardware.

    Sizes:

    6x6, 7x8, 8x10, 9x12, 11x14, 13x16, 14x18, 16x20, 16x22, 5.5x14 Super Solid Snare, 5x10 Snare, 6x12 Snare,

  • @DrumWorkshopInc Please find you local authorized DW drums dealer at the link below.

    ://dwdr(dot)ms/v7qPFu

  • Just feel happy 4 U Derek & fuck`em ALL

  • Thanx for actually responding. I will look at the link when I get to a desktop. Check out some of my vids, KW Schultz ...

  • @thebig96er No problem! As of right now we are keeping old school with the application process. We still have everyone mail in their info.

  • What the hell does it take 2 get endorsed???

  • @thebig96er We are flattered that you have chosen DW as your preferred drums and your endorsement.

  • @DrumWorkshopInc I didnt even know you could apply for a endorsement, Ive always dreamed of having one with DW but that may be a few years before i could at the least qualify. unless you guys are willing to give one to a 17year old with a small amount of gospel gigs under his belt no influence whatsoever in the music scene and little chance at becoming a famous drummer. LOL anything can happen though.lol

  • @sample21383 Go ahead and apply! Good luck!

  • @DrumWorkshopInc How do i apply i went to your website and i didnt see where i could. that link you left on your other comment doesnt work or something.

  • Is it possible to make a custom kit on the website, but to not include the cymbals?

  • @gowfan2 Yes you can! When you start the process on the Kitbuilder there will be a cymbal set but you can delete this cymbal set up later after you have configured your drum and hardware set up.

  • @DrumWorkshopInc a couple of questions

1.is Derek's kit in mass production?(able to purchase through a retailer or direct from you)

2.do you have to be in a band to be endoresed, and can you receive an endorsement through purchasing? (e.g. Truth, SJC, Maple Drum works, or OCDP)?

    3. and thanks for answering my questions, i appreciate your time

  • Hi - can you get toms in 6" depth?

  • @TheBandProjectMusic Absolutely!

  • fuck you i no have money for these drums xD

  • my dream is to own one of these some day...

  • @ThePurpleDrumStick We would love to make you any type of DW kit!

  • That kit seems killer...

Are they available in Quebec, Canada ? xD

  • @therealvoltage You could special this kit or any DW from any of our authorized DW dealers! Please refer the link below for the closest DW dealer to you.

    ://bit(dot)ly/v7qPFu

  • @DrumWorkshopInc That is very true, have them. Best drums I have ever had. For the price I got an amazing kit, with a pearl master series sound, and they look beautiful. I'm not even endorsed or anything xD!

  • Good god I wanna dump that kit down the front of my pants and just roll em around down there.

    *drool*

He's spot on about the sound. Nothing like a DW. Period. It's akin to listening to an italian exotic open up on the highway.

  • @psychonavigator This is one of the funniest posts we have seen. The whole office is cracking up. :) We love the car reference. Thanks so much!

  • Looks like them lessons I gave you paid off Roddy.

  • @hamlin49036 Haha! Maybe you could give us some lessons? :)

  • are those stock heads?

  • @PayneKrunk Yes they are. They our factory heads made by Remo.

  • I prefer the mic'd drum sound. They all sound like wet paper bags otherwise, honestly.

  • This just sounds like a bunch of bull shit... LOL.

  • What does he mean by articulate bass sound?

  • @ireternalexistence We think the meaning means the focus and definition of the bass tones.

  • his drumming sounds like shit....

  • @BraXinga Nope. Get an education young fellow.

  • @BraXinga huh

  • @BraXinga maybe you're trolling, but i think your opinion is completely unfounded. do you really mean to tell me this man, a professional drummer, sounds like shit? roddy isn't good because he's a professional drummer, he's a professional drummer because he's good. this is a craft he has poured his life into. saying that he sounds like 'shit' is a little harsh.

btw - i'm not an extreme fan of metal drumming, nor do i even know what group roddy plays in. i'm just a fan of being reasonable

  • Really Nice drum kit, but I prefer the sound of pearl drums...

  • Anyone else thrown off by this guys bizarre accent? Sounds Scandinavian sort of, but he's from South Carolina. Weird.

  • i dont like the way DW bass drums sound, but when he goes through toms and snare drum i kinda get an air rush into my head ^_^ they are so bright, natural and cutting through.

  • what is the price range for let's say a collectors series birch 6 piece 20 10 12 15 16, 14 snare set?

  • @allmetaliswelcome Thanks for inquiring. We do not do any pricing or sales for DW drums direct from our factory here. Best call is too figure which finish type you want exactly and check with your local DW drums dealer for pricing and ordering information.

    ://bit(dot)ly/zhhDh8

    ://bit(dot)ly/AqTasL

  • @DrumWorkshopInc eell you can atleast guess what it would be :) ? it always ranges between a minimun and a maximum.

the finish i'd want would be green tribal flames over black.

  • @allmetaliswelcome Sorry but it would not be fair to quote any pricing to our authorized dealers. Hope you can understand.

  • @DrumWorkshopInc i can totally relate to it.

  • Man those 20" kicks sound awesome. Makes me consider going smaller.

  • @blackwash With the SSC you can go smaller and still get plenty of low end. Feel free to check our video on SSC when you get a chance.

    dwdrums(dot)com/ssc/

  • I wish I could afford a DW kit. I will do a video, if I get free DW drums and hardware ;)

  • @FeelingBallsy Well you should do a video anyways. Have your looked into the Performance Series yet?

    ://bit(dot)ly/sVSn0t

  • @DrumWorkshopInc My equipment is too bad for a video. Im talking a crappy Chinese made Gammon set with all ZBTs and a broken Gibralter double bass pedal. I bet the pedal was once really nice though. I cant afford the Performance Series, especially in a recession. The Performance Series does look really nice though. performance and DW go together well.

  • @DrumWorkshopInc how is the PDP X7 series because i can't afford DW (yet) but I'm definitely interested in the X7

  • @alexed18 We have had a lot of great feedback with the X7. You get all the sizes you could ever need with some sweet finishes. Maple shells. Good to go. Hear one with our artist Gerald Heyward on the video link below.

    ://bit(dot)ly/xIpHfl

  • love derrek! owned a collector series kit for past year and half and i gota say by far the best kit ive ever played on attention to detail and ease of setting equipment up is unparralelled.

  • @H1tManV Awesome! Derek is a great drummer and a great guy. We are very stoked to hear your Collector's Series kit is going well for you. :)

  • If I was a little older and had a good paying job, I would definately invest into a DW over a Pearl or Ludwig. DW drums are probably the best in the world.

  • @jimihendrixtribute Thanks very much! We would love to make you a kit when you are ready.

  • I tried out a Collectors kit in my local shop and they sound awesome! best bass drum ive ever played

  • @josshlegg We are happy you liked the sound. :)

  • @josshlegg agreed, extreem nice lows and warm vibe

  • Derek Roddy plays whatever company pays him the most.. DW are really nice drums, but Derek is coming off more and more like a sellout.

  • @Cretinhopping In Derek's defense Derek does not get paid by us. He does receive free drums and hardware though.

  • @DrumWorkshopInc

derek goes for what he wants in feel and sound and quality which is why dw drums are fucking awesome!

  • @DrumWorkshopInc Well I stand corrected on that aspect of it, just my opinion is all :) I do like DW though, I use 9000 series stands. Built like tanks.

  • @DrumWorkshopInc lucky i would like to be him cause your guys make some of the most best hardware and drum i have a 9000 on my kit and fell in love with and i also love the dw thrones dw forever

  • @DrumWorkshopInc I actually respect that you guys are that honest. Although DW sound good, they don't sound any better than Sonor or Premier or whathaveyou. Just they have that woody, bright , naturalistic tone that session players seem to like. My own view is that there's Yamaha and then there's every other drum. But then again, it's personal preference really.

  • @Cretinhopping Thanks very much!

  • @Cretinhopping Not true! Go to Derek's site and he clearly states that Sonor has for too many issues with support etc. and while they make a fine product, DW is at the forefront of drumming and drum making. I saved for a LONG time to buy mine and would kill to be on their roster with the pros!

  • @Cretinhopping Incorrect. You sound like a disrespectful little bitch. If you want to consider yourself a fan, get your facts straight. DW's kill.

  • @XxStrongDrums1996xX I never said I considered myself a fan, I gave an opinion. If you don't like my opinion you don't have to agree with it, but don't make yourself into a hypocrite by saying I sound disrespectful then calling me names. And if you weren't such a (I assume) lazy person you'd see my post just a bit up the page saying I USE DW HARDWARE.

  • Brand X: Sonor

    lmao

  • ...or a snake... lol :)

  • Im debating between a Reference or a DW Collectors. Only reason I'm leaning toward Reference is because of the different woods offering different tonal qualities. Its too bad DW doesnt offer a shell with different plies. Birch/Maple or Maple/Mahogany. Because then I would say goodbye to my Reference idea

  • @tayl0424 Personally I'd go for the Reference, the only problem is the limited finishes. With DW you can get some crazy finishes. But if you want piece of equipment with very solid hardware and a great sound for just about any type of music (even metal) I'd go for the Pearls..

  • @tayl0424 Well we do offer different grain orientations to change to notes and tones of the shells. What type of sounds are you going for exactly?!?

  • When I win the lottery, I know what I'm doing first.

  • whats so special about DW? pearl has master works too not to mention the numerous custom drum companies, Spaun, Truth,OCDP etc...

  • he says more metal drummers should look into these drums but most metalheads have no money at all:p

  • Love DW snares. I own a 5x13 Bronze, 6.5x14 Edge, 5x12 satin, and a 5.4x14 collector's from 1992. BUT I really do miss their early/mid 90's thicker shells and re-rings on toms. And I'll never understand those single ply coated/clear Remo heads they throw on there. Just sound too boxy and never do those drums justice IMO. Throw some smooth white or renaissance emperors or EC2's and they start to sound just purely magical..

  • @dripgoss You got some sweet snare collection. :) We still use reinforcement hoops in our shells.

  • @DrumWorkshopInc Also you guys mind telling me the difference between an pdp m5 and fs, i asked about a pdp about 2 months ago and bought the fs. i love the sound of the fs but i heard the m5 and they sound alike. I thing the m5 was also a bit more expensive

  • @vorkap i totally agree with you in huge multiples...the three u mention would be the ones i would mention as well...why he has a dw endorsement is beyond me...bad move dw.

  • where is the hole for me to stick my dick in that kit is TIGHTTTT!!!!!!

  • crap. what is it with everyone thinking good drummings about thundering double pass pedals and as many mindless smacks into a stupid amount of crash cymbals as possible? its shit drumming and soulless.

  • @MrThreshold2009 To you maybe, but to others it doesn't seem that way. And, to come right out and call something "shit drumming and soulless" simply because you don't like it is extremely arrogant.

Sure Derek Roddy is more known for his extreme metal playing from bands such as HateEternal, but he is also a really talented Jazz Fusion player.

  • Some years ago he said that there was nothing better than Sonor ....now its DW....im sorry but sonor is much better

  • Derek Roddy + Alex Grind = Drum Gods

  • Comment removed

  • do they stay tuned low? i have a problem with that on my set

  • @zzzzzushi Yes! With the VLT and X style shells they are designed to have a natural low end note to them. No need to feel to have to tune lower. :)

  • @DrumWorkshopInc Not to mention the True Pitch tension rods...

  • @zzzzzushi you call that a problem?

  • @estebanskater123 a small one.

  • If I want a DW Collector's Series drum set with an exotic finish like an Aztec Gold to Black Fade over Ivory Ebony, do I just tell my local Guitar center I want that color exactly and then DW does it?

  • @HarnessDavid You got it! You have half the battle of your custom drum order taken care of. Just specify the exact finish type and sizes you want to your authorized DW drums dealer you are go to go!

  • @DrumWorkshopInc Cool! Now for the long hours of saving up money...

  • one day I'll buy some of those drumsets!!!

    /watch?v=lQR33VVXO4Y

  • Yes, definitely a great drum for any type of drummer, it's such a good thing that you can tune it low and get a decent sound from it

  • @sergioaarocha Thanks for your comments! The SSC is definitely geared towards the lowers tones but with some tuneabilty.

  • He's been endorsed by more drum companies than any drummer in the world. I thought you loved being with Sonor?

  • Curiosity, how much would that particular set cost?

  • @MegaMido9 It is always best to check with your local authorized DW dealer dwdr(dot)ms/v7qPFu

  • @MegaMido9 What's that old saying? If you have to ask you can't afford it. Neither can I.

  • @snooters Lol! Sometimes, you ask because you don't know.

  • @MegaMido9 Haha fair enough :)

  • @MegaMido9 I'd guess probably around the $6000 - $7000 mark. Considering one kick drum and 4 toms costs almost $3000.

  • Dear DW,

    MIC YOUR DRUMS!!!

    Thank you.

  • I believe instruments should look as good as they sound. Unless, your just a beginner. I know some people are like I dont give a fuck it sounds good But I'd say, if you know what your doing, and you've already spend enough time infront of a shit set.. why not get something nice? Make it look like you. I feel when I customize my stuff, they have my appearance, my customization, my personality. I feel that much "closer" to my instrument and I think psychologically, that enables you to play better.

  • @FromtheInception Well said! Thanks for your comments. :)

  • Might be a dumb question but why doesn't he play a 14x6 or 6.5 to have that power ?

Thanks for answering, I wish I had enough money to buy even one of your cheapest kits !

  • @burns01 Not a dumb question. :) The Super Solid snares only come in a 5.5 depth because their already very specific sound. We found this depth worked best for versatility and also justice to the theme of a solid shell.

We suggest you start with PDP when the time is right for you. Your welcome!

  • i've watched this video a few times every night for the past week,

i just want to marry his drums.. and him, of course

  • @jakelikestodrum Marriage is overrated unless it's to Derek and his kit of course. ;) Thanks for watching!

  • either they keep looping him playing the same bit or he's just playing behold judas a lot.

  • How deep is the snare ?

    14 x 5 ?

  • @burns01 The Super Solid he plays for his main snare is a 5.5x14.

5.5x14 Super Solid Snare, 5x10 Snare, 6x12 Snare.

  • man i wish i have enough money to buy a drum set like that

  • @helpmeimconfused Have you looked into the Performance Series? Same quality with a more affordable price.

    ://dwdr(dot)ms/sVSn0t

  • i thought derek was in hate eternal. did he quit?

  • Holy hell theyre beautiful

  • @Duckbombz Thanks! :)

  • "Sup everyone, its Derek Roddy from syrup its rice"???

  • HOW MUCH THAT KIT? The finish is so beautiful. Would be nice...

  • @MegaGuitarFreak123 would be about 15'000-20'000 for the shells without hardware and cymbals....

  • @TheGh0stGamer Not that much. :) Best to check with your authorized DW dealer.

    ://dwdr(dot)ms/v7qPFu

  • guy needs to work on his left hand speed, those blasts suck ass!! (hopefully you realize that im being sarcastic)

  • @DanDeePee Lol! We got you. :)

  • where can i buy

  • @soulsinger90876 You can order any and all DW drums from any of our authorized DW drums dealers. :)

    ://dwdr(dot)ms/v7qPFu

  • @DrumWorkshopInc thanks guys! :)

  • @soulsinger90876 Anytime!

  • i play a pearl reference and i thought it was the most beautiful kit in the world

but Im actually sad to say (being pearl and all...) that this is simply as good as if not better than pearl (i never sad that before) but you wasted such a fantastic on a just about average drummer... :/

  • Our drums sound the best - and to prove it - here's a drumkit in a room with one microphone on the other side.

  • @KotowTV Sounds good to you we hope!

  • @DrumWorkshopInc Drums always sound good to me ! :D An endorsement would sound even better ! :D KER-CHING !!

  • @KotowTV Swwet thanks! You can always apply for endorsement. You never know. :)

    dwdrums(dot)com//info/faq(dot)asp#endorse

  • @DrumWorkshopInc Haha. I'll have a look but there's probably no point ! xD

  • @DrumWorkshopInc can you be an indepentent drummer in order to become endorsed? and do you have to be a spesific age??

  • Can you buy the stock heads from DW like you would with Remo or Evans?

  • @WelcomeWakinyan Yes you can. Feel free to order the DW Remo factory heads here dwdrums(dot)com. Just click on the "Shop" button in the lower right hand corner. From there choose the DW option on the left then choose the category Drum heads. Thanks!

  • derek roddy's bass drum speed is weak....and by weak i mean almost as fast as God's

  • @yanksrule5502 So are we thinking God is into metal? That's pretty cool. :)

  • @yanksrule5502 you shouldn't compare a god to another god :P

  • @yanksrule5502 I don't know... God has yet to post a drum cover of a Hate Eternal song.

  • Next to the left bass drum underneath the hihat, what is the small drum hooked up to a pedal? Is it like a small timbale?

  • @smurfhunterguy It actually what we call a Rata tom. Close to an Octoban. It is 6 inches in diameter and 6 inches deep. You can order them up to 18 inches in depth. :)

  • @DrumWorkshopInc That's so cool!

Another quick question, I've always wanted to make a really memorable snare drum. Would it be possible for me to have you make me a snare where you do all the drilling and bearing edges first, send me the shell so I can have my friends draw all on it and then send it back to you for a clear coat and the hardware?

  • @smurfhunterguy That's an original idea. :) We can't do exactly that but we could make you a Satin Oil snare drum complete and then you could take the hardware off to do any drawing you want!
