it's not about logic, it's about your parent's feelings. they see you brain dead but breathing and get you back "dead". it's about being there when the machines are turned off. it's not logic, it's emotions.
Some of you are misinformed. Almost every state in the US has their own OPO (Organ Procurement Org). Each work works a little different, but there are some things that do not change...The OPO pays for the entire donation, There are no mounds of paperwork...just sign up at your DMV or online. Your organs are not taken out of your body after death unless you are donating, having an autopsy or crossing US borders in some cases. Having a <3 on your license does not affect life saving efforts. ETC
One argument: human beings are selfish. Even in death. (this is partially a joke btw)
Besides it's not a Simple problem, it's because once you die, you technically lose your right as a human being and your parent's or your partner's say have more weight in the decision process.
So even in your process, even if you had signed all the paperwork about you donating all your organs, if your parents say NO to it after you die, we have no right whatsoever to donate your organs!
its a personal decison my friend. i will not donate. i work in an icu and played part in soo many organ harvest . ive witnessed many over zealous coordinators lie to and take advantage of a bad situation plus its a money game alot of insurances dont cover it hell i even took classes on being a coordinator watch them harvest 1 time and ur mjnd will change
ok so would you want your organs to be put into a murderer's body? and yeah raising your voice and appearing all dominating makes you sound like an idiot
@wederchen So your going to not donate because of the very small chance and I mean very small chance that it may be given to someone that you disprove of. Convicts are so low down on the list that they are unlikely to receive an organ.
personally I'm hoping by the time I die cryogenics has improved. then again if cheap robot bodies become available I'd donate my body on an instance providing my brain is transferred. but now that I think about it that kinda makes it a mote point.
This is a very long shot, but I might have come up with a logical argment. If your organs are donated after you die, chances are that they will save a life. Now, this is not a pretty world, perhaps they will end up saving a muderer's or a rapist's life... someone you would absolutely not want to save. So instead of running this risk you may just want to have them shredded. No logical flaw, it's just a cynical and sociopathic argument. Yes, I did this for the challenge, my organs will be donated.
If you are an organ donor and a car crash or whatever renders you braindead the local hospital will keep your body artificially "alive" by machines. This can make saying goodbye even more traumatizing, especially to small children. Because you are still warm, still breathing you even have a pulse.
Being a donor might also affect your doctors decision to do everything in your power to save you if you have say only a 1% survival chance
You say don't bring up an "appeal to emotion", but your whole video is a rant. While I agree there is no reason why someone wouldn't want their organs to be donated after they die, the way you presented your argument is the exact way you don't want them to represent their argument.
organ donation is like blood donations, only a very select number of people can, and usually if u die the organs wont be recoverable ie.
car crash: organs destroyed
OD: organs contaminated
old age: organs over used
that is only a very few reasons, i know someone on the top of an organ donation list, his been called in to get his heart and lungs transplanted numerous times but every time he is sent home because the donor was a drugo or something smiler
there are no logical explanation only i dont feel like it which i guess is fine its a free country but just know ur a little bit lower for choosing that way as for religious reasons ud have to be an idiot to cite religion as a reason not to donate.. ..me personally idk i think im not donating idk y but idk and i know its wrong but idk maybe ill change even thou my license says i am a donor idk y i checked that box
However, I'm trying to decide if I should do organ donation officially or just donate my whole body to science. Both are important, I'm thinking about writing down a will that puts up all the circumstances for either scenario being the victor. Like, if I die of a unique disease, it goes up for study and stuff like that.
Sadly, an issue like this is going to always be linked to emotional issues. All you've done is create your own personal moral high ground from which you can belabour everyone who doesn't subscribe to exactly your point of view. Your body is something that you have complete rights to, in life and death, and if you don't want your liver ending up in someone else, then your body is where it stays. The organs are replaced after postmortem; it's not as if they are always destroyed.
I am 16 and I am planning to donate everything I can give of my organs when I die. The only reason I wouldn't do it if it made my parents didn't feel comfortable with me doing it ( if they outlived me).
Some people find it very difficult to understand the pros and cons of organ donation so therefore don't take much time in finding out about it so choose to ignore it. I wounder if it was them or a member of their family or close friend who needed a transplant would they be so ignorant then? After all your more likely to need an organ than to become a donor yourself.
I really wound not trust the state with organs its a cop out people should opt in not opt out next thing you know they will take the right to opt out its a little thing called liberty its lazy politics authoritarian to opt out. if people are that altruistic they will give blood and donate their organs through their own volition. Individual rights are more important dare i say it than the lives of a few!
If it was you or your family needing an organ, would you say the same then? If you feel strongly then yes you would opt out wouldnt you? Everyone has the right to live if that means having to have a transplant to live a better life. Obviously your life is perfect.
The only argument I have seen is peoples fear that in some cases instead of trying to revive a person thats an organ Donner they will let them pass away so they can use the organs to save more lives. Its a really really weak argument. But hey oh well.
I've actually talked to people about this, and there is actual fear that doctors won't save them as quickly if they can get their organs. stupid, I know.
Honestly, sir, no one can take a legitimate argument against this video because your bias oversteps every boundary.
And I quote "stupid religious argument".
Unbelievable.

When a person dies, the government always steals the Corneas out of your eyes ... they do it without consent.
The Hospitals make so much money in the operations, why does the family that lost the person not get to profit?
Either organ transplants whould be free, or the both parties (hospital and family) should profit?
What is wrong with this idea?
How many taxes do we all ready pay for the hospitals in bonds and levies?

I'm an organ donor, I don't see why anyone wouldn't donate them. You're not going to use them when you die, why should you give a shit?

Here's an argument:
Some people are greedy, ignorant motherfuckers; and they don't care... Probably yelling at them won't help though. :s
I'm a donor! :)

In a way it's surprising that organ donation isn't done on everyone who die with organs intact and functioning.
I have a big problem understanding why we should let someone die just so we can honor an already dead persons crazy morals.
Go donate!

People should really ask themselves if it is wise to let fear and emotion dominate themselves during crises, it helps to study history.

In the Netherlands you automatically become a donor when you turn 18, unless you fill in a form that says you don't want to be a donor.
My 2 stupid anti-religious arguments to do that are:
1. Most people are religious and I wouldn't want an idiot to be able to upkeep their idiotic religious views thanks to my organs.
2. Without religion there wouldn't be a need for organ donation, because stem cell therapies would have been more developed.
A third would be: I am not planning to die.

Make Organ donation the standard, and only IF someone fills out a form, they won't be.
They only arguments against organ donation are religious, or completely stupid. I'm a full donor too.
