  • Thank you for posting

  • Wow I looked at almost every video on ventalating on youtube, and I have to say the only vid that has helped me pick this up is your vid. Thanks guy you made it so easy to grasp. I take my hat off you!!! Ok lets say I want to make a hair piece without a parting in it,which direction would I start in. Top,mid,or back. would I need to pull the hair in the direction I want the hair to be combed. Lets say I want a plat? would I pull the hair back? Thanks

  • Ricky you are simply A.MA.ZING. By far the BEST ventilating video here on youtube. Very clear, concise, and expertly explained. A million and one thank you's!!!!!!!

  • Thank you for the great video!!

  • When I started ventilating I didn't have points, so my instructor suggested using staples (this was all over the phone!). They work brilliantly! I use a Tot Stapler...one of those little red ones, and they do less damage to the lace and blocks, plus both ends are submerged, so the hair doesn't catch!

A few years later, I was ventilating for an opera my teacher was designing and pulled out the stapler. He said, "where'd you get THAT idea?", and was gobsmacked, when I said, "you!"!

  • I love your video Ricky! I'm starting out with synthetic hair too and it is really hard to work with but it's cheap and I can get a lot of it. Your video shows the process the best I think of all the ones on YouTube, thank you! But I'm having trouble with the last part when I pull the hair through the loop, the rest of the hair I'm holding in my left hand will bunch up and separate! Then I loose speed having to flatten, and loop the hair again. Am I holding the hair wrong or too tight?

  • im not being funny but what king of person ask's where they got there beard from.

  • How long do you make the returns if ventilating virgin remy hair? Do you cut them back after ventilation so they do not tangle with the main hair? I am having problems understanding this as none of my wig making books say anything about cutting them back, but other people say that if you don't the hair will matt at the root especially when it is washed.

  • where can I purchase a ventilating needle?

  • I love this piece, I just cant get the part after you wrap around. You say wrap around and pull thru but thats not workin for me. I got the goin thru the lace, grabbing the hair the wrap around after that its hell. Im using an asian needle 2-3, synthetic hair, and a weaving net all for practice. Once agian great piece. Thanks

  • @KandiReed6975 from my experience synthetic hair makes the process much more difficult. Make sure you needle is full of hair and try rotating you needle as you pull it back through the lace. I don't know why but from my experience synthetic hair is not as easy to work with. RG

  • @rickyg439 Thank's Ricky for the insight it worked more so than not. I will be practicing consistantly until I perfect this craft. I wish you had more vids. Anywho thanks a bunch again. Oh yeah I started wit the synthetic jus because I knew it would be a lil more of a challenge to ventilate.

  • Thank you for the great video, loved it.

  • Thank you for sloooowly showing how to attach and knot the hair.

  • The best video on this I've seen.

  • I LOVE YOU FOR MAKING THIS VIDEO. EVERYBODY ELSE DOESN'T SHOW THE DETAIL. YOU ARE THE BEST!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!

  • Thank you for the video:)

  • Thanks for this great video! It's so incredibly helpful to see the process illustrated close-up.

  • how do you make the hook not catch on the lace when you are pulling it through after you have caught the hair on it?

    thanks

  • @ILoveToScrub you have to rotate you holder and needle a bit to get it under the lace. It takes practice but once you get the rotate down that will make life easier.

  • @rickyg439 ok. thank you. i haven't bought anything yet. just looking to see if i could possibly try making my own lace wigs.

    thanks again

  • please. subtitulen en español!!!!

  • Wow, I just got this as a suggested video and I really think that this was so interesting and incredibly well done. I am not sure I would have ever thought much about this before, but darned if I am not interested now. What a fantastic teacher and demonstrator you are. Thanks for sharing your knowledge!

  • Hi there! Where exactly do you get your needles/hooks and holders as well as the wig head blocks??

  • @AfroQueenShae try Alcone or De Meo Brothers

  • Cool how does one go about getting a job doing what your doing ?

    What state are you in?

  • @Cerahiyah I live in Fargo ND I am a Theatre Designer and Teacher Theatre design or Wig and Makeup Tranning is what you are looking for.

  • the video is great and very informing. Thanks for slow-mo in doing the process very helpful[ the first i saw]. How many packs of hair does it take to make a full lace wig? What kind of lace net did you use? cost? and where to find it? Plez response back soon as possible :)

  • i loved your video i must have watched 100 other videos that explain this topic but only yours helped me through it thankyou so much .

  • Hello, im work with lace wig and i need to buy your french lace. I would love to know if you sell it and how i can get in touch with you, i live in Italty and here no body knowa about this so will be nice ear a responce. Best regards.

  • Thank you for sharing and showing up close the ventilating process.

  • how do you determine how much space to leave when venting? & how do you determine the density?

  • it is true wigmaking is a craft that cant be learned overnight.Ittakes time to fine tune your ventilating, and to learn all the many aspects of wigmaking.Just look at some of the horrible tutorials on here by people who learned yesterday how to tie and today consider themselves expert enought to teach. The lace is usually stretched the wrong way, the knots are huge and half the knots they tie come undone while they demonstrate. They use incorrect terms&materials.A jerryrigged approach 2 wigmaking.

  • ventilating is an art form.if you just want to have yourself a wig, buyone. It takes years of study and proper theatrical traiing to master this art. With the exception of this video, most vids on here i have seen are very lazy, innacurate ways of making "salon"lacefront wigs. Those people take a little knowledge and use it with improper materials and methiods to turn out inferior hairgoods.Obviously, this guy has been theatrically trained.

  • @afboyfw what a load of rubbish! its simple... ''years of study'' pmsl

  • @daydream1900 if you knew anything about this you would know, anyone can learn to tie a knot. The art comes in being able to fade the knots realistically to create a realistic hairline. If youve seen as many wigs as I have you know the difference. There is also the different lace materials, when to use them, how they are to b stretched. How to blend hair colors to achive a natural multitoned blonde or grey.It takes practice to learn the subtleties of ventilating. This takes place over a couple years

  • @afboyfw Well i do know how to vent! and yes i know about lace lol i have a boat load of it, but you make out it rocket science to lern anybody can lern to vent and make good quailty wigs,

  • @daydream1900It is not rocket sciernce, but as with hairstyling & makeup design, the more you do it the better and more refined u get.It is not something one can learnall the intricacies of from a few short videos,or one session. There is a huge difference in learning to tie knots and perfecting the craft.Anyone can use a sewing machine, but that doesnt make them a seamstress. The 100th wig someone makes is going to be better than thier 1st,thats common sense. If u did this for a living,u'd know that.

  • This is the best video that I have seen on ventilating, Really could see what you were doing. Thank you so much. Mike

  • Amazing Video! The best on youtube. Thanks Ricky!!!

  • Thank you soooo much for making this video! Really helpful.

  • good job i will buy ur dvds if u want to sell it

  • Thank you so much! I wish you would make some more vids demos for lace front closures and explaining the different kinds of needles. I'm left-handed and it's been extremely hard for me but i'm still trying. I just want to make myself a lace-front closure.

  • can u please tell me where i can buy some lace?

  • WOW, this is a good ventilating video. When you loop the hair in one hand, is the hair longer on one side? From what i understand from your video I DONT want to use the wrong end of the hair for the knot. I would think having one end shorter would make the hair look super think at the root and thin toward the bottom.

  • Thanks so much for the video!! Do you know how you can knot "freestyle"? It seems to be about closing the knot a bit above the lace, so it can move in any direction.

  • @Linkiedinkie I agree, how is that done???

  • That was a great demonstration by the way. I wanted to know why would you use a double knot or a slip knot?

  • Omg thus is by far the BEST ventilating video on YouTube. I'm saying that because on most of the other videos you would have to basically imagine in your head what they're talking about but in your video umyou gave a close up as well as explaining and demonstrating the process more than once....thank you so much and good luck on all of your future pieces.

  • BEST Video on ventilating. THANKS

  • Wow...thank you so much for passing this information along. I was getting frustrated looking at other vids where I only saw the finished product, had to hear about someone's hairloss, or buy their stupid dvd. Many, many thanks.

  • awesome dude, thanks so much for this video. i could never understand the process of ventilating. now thanks to you i can finally make my lace frontal.....thanks a million.

  • gosh more vids please :)

  • You are awesome , I have been ventalating for about a year . I want you to know that I have had to learn everything the hard way and how to get compfortable while im in the middle of the proccess. I just want to thank you ,and I could never tell you how you showing me the double knot has changed my world in making wigs and not having them shed. Really I can't thank you enough......

Oh B.T.W. you really are a hot bear.

    Hugs and Tugs

    Patrick

  • Just find your channel, and I love it. A question for you, probably the same question everyone is asking. Where do you buy the lace from? That's seem to be a world secret. Could you tell me what company sell the different lace? Thanks for your Vid's

  • @ rickyg439 I live in the UK. Really want to try this but cannot find this needle anywhere. Any ideas? Thank you.

  • @blingSapphire Banbury Postiche sells wig making supplies in the UK.

  • Excellent. Your instructions are clear and precise. You make it look so easy. Though in reality I hope it's as easy as it looks. I'll definitely be practising. Thank you for sharing.

  • AWESOME video. Thank you for sharing this with the youtube community. I am definitely going to try this.

  • Well Ricky,, THANK YOU! I've seen quite a few videos of people ventilating, and I just couldn't catch the concept until I watched this one here!!! THIS IS THEE VIDEO FOR VENTILATING NEWBIES LIKE ME!! Your demonstrating using a "beginner type lace/netting" ,made out to be the best example for me, along with explaining that "wrap around" step very clearly right before pulling thru the loop. Can't wait to go purchase a #4 , So, Hey once again I cant say Thank You enough Take Care!

  • the needle that you are using is for how many strands?? it look like its for the maximum amount..

  • @Justsang4me I think I am using a #4 is a not all that big.

  • You know where I can buy needles for ventilating my hairline and german lace super thin swiss lace?

  • @niaZomba needles try De Meo brother in NJ they are great not sure about swill lace I use lace from them and love what I get

  • @rickyg439

Hey Ricky thanks for the info, I go so desperate in try to figure on how to ventilate I taught myself how to do it with a sewing needle LOL now I'm trying to create a front lace wig,

  • @niaZomba Demeo Bros In NYC has all forms of lace. What you want for a front, they call "superlace".They're probably the best to order from while youre learning.if you start doing lots of work,Iwould go with Hugo Royer in London,or Atelier Bassi in Switz.U get more product for your $.This swiss lace & german lace category is a certain persons name for the products. Each company has slightly different names, usually it is called fronting lace,U can request samples, and then determine the wieght u need

  • This is just SOO incredibly hard!! I don't get how you make it look so easy, and this is like the 20th time I've watched the ventilation part!

My question is: How do you insure you get maximum length from the hair strand? I don't understand how you can insure the knot is at the very end of one strand. Thank you!!

  • @LuckyStar1984 you have to loop you root end of you had in the one hand and you want to hold a small loop that is indeed the root that way you are not wasing length of your hair

  • omg what kind of camera is that ? this vid was sp well put together

  • @jamesgirl37 I know it was a HD camera bout is was one my film department uses so i am not sure about that part of the project

  • @rickyg439 very cool vid I look forward to more

  • how long will it take a complete newbie to complete a full lace wig in hours?

  • im scared that if i buy all the supplies and hair i will not be able to do it.i want to make my own lace wigs and ventilate shedding wigs for customers

  • @Lacehairwigs the two knots are all you will need to tie a wig and truly a single knot is all the need the double knot is only used by some. My advice on supplies would be to buy a start set or sample I am not going to say it is easy. I have many students that get frustrated with the process it is very time consuming.

  • this is great can you show us how to do all the other types of knots

  • Excellent video... thanks.

It seems like you need to be in a secret cult to find wholesale swiss lace at a decent price these days. I looked at those companies you posted and didn't see swiss lace... do you know where I can find it?

  • Alcone and De Meo Brothers are two great sources for lace and needles

  • @rickyg439 how does the hair stay on the needle.does it have a tiny curve right on the tip to pull the hair?

  • I love this vid! Ricky you make a great teacher. Where can i purchase the lace from?

  • @icediamek Alcone is a great source and so is De Meo Borthers

  • thank you for the detail shots!

  • Awesome video, very clear A+++

Could you share or possibly message me and let me know where to get the lace, it seems like the companies I have ordered from send me the type of lace sold in fabric stores and it tears easily. Again great video, hope theres more to come.

  • Wow! Thank you so much for the video, it was clear, concise, and to the point. I anticipate your next video.

  • thank you so much, your a wonderful teacher!!!! But can you tell me where to find the right lace. I brought some online but it was just lace you could find at wal-mart lol!

  • thank you for this demo

  • I love your video I can actually see how you are ventilating! Where can I find a ventilating tool like you are using? THANK YOU

  • Hi Ricky! Thank you SO much for this video! I just have a question about ventilating (or how to ventilate) a skin cap on a human hair wig. I pulled out a lot of the hair in a detangling session and now I need to repair it. I thought if I somehow thread the hair in a tiny needle and pulled it through the holds and then glued it down underneath. I don't know any other way...LOL. PLEASE PLEASE HELP! Thanks!

  • Let your needle do the work. Ventilating needles will pull different amount of hair depending on the size of the needle. if you are wanting to only pull one hair use your smaller needle. You may be applying to much tension causing the hair to break.

  • This is soo great Thank you this is exactly what I needed 5 Stars! love it<3

  • I am glad I could be of help.
