Pretty sure she doesn't need riding advice. She worked through it just fine. My horse does this all the time! Especially in new arenas, he practically LOOKS for things to spook at.

My horse is 17 hh, also. It's fun when she spooks though. I barely even know she is, because I'm used to it from when she would always spook when I mountd and of the wind blowing and stuff. Now she only spooks eh...I'd say when I JUMP onto her back SOMETIMES. lol :) She's so fun! I love to ride and sometimes jump her bareback.

today the horse I was riding was just walking and then she skittered sideways then when we went back it looked the same and she just kept on walking lol she is a really funny horse one time at the end of the lesson she was like i can't walk another step im so tired then when we put her in the paddock she was like see ya! and she cantered back to the 'ladies' oh and at the beggining of the lesson penelope whinned to her penelope was funny too to bad she was sold:(

It was either a saber tooth tiger or a velociraptor. Either way, it was scary. I love how he figures out it's ok and then just keeps trotting along. Like, "ok now that that's over." Actually you continuing to ride him forward is what fixed it.

my horse spooked at my last show. my trainer was riding it but there was a dog trying to get in the back of a truck and the sound of the claws scared him and he shot forward and kind of lifted his front legs a little. but he is young and on his good/bad days he acts like a 4 year old boy with adhd on crack lol

I think she'd be a little hellion as a person. The best part was that she was NEVER afraid of whatever she spooked at. She was sly and cheeky on a daily basis, but on especially snarky days she could find fifty things to "spook" at that she had paid no attention to before.

I love the carnivorous butterfly theory! My chestnut QH mare had a huge sideways-leap provoked by anything she found offensive. She freaked when a weed that had been outside the fence one day was inside it the next. I almost missed a lesson when a tree flowered over night. She was great at shows though, w/one major quirk. She could identify the judge, and only the judge was allowed to have an umbrella. If someone else had one, she expressed extreme disapproval.

She was a riot. She was also known for dumping people in odd ways (if she did not approve of them). My sister was on her because I was sick and my trainer was trying to teach my sis a leg-yield. My sis chose a bad spot to do it and leg yielded almost into a jump standard. Molly "fixed" this steering boo-boo by hopping back the other way. She and my sister parted company as part of the deal.

I was riding a mare who spooked because a leaf fell off the tree! I didn't fall off but someone else did because of a chain reaction of spooks :\

We almost ran into a busy road before I got her stopped though (we weren't in the arena)
